So true. 48 and never watched women's basketball on any level. I watched the college playoffs and I'm looking forward to watching Caitlins first game tonight. She's creating a buzz for the whole league and deserves much more respect than She's getting. She's changing the game for all her peers as well including the haters.
I think she is smart, can shoot, and keeps her team mate's on their toes by her passes. Never saw a girl be so aware of the court as her. Larry Legend has similar traits, except she can dribble better. She has elevated the college ball and will do the same for the WNBA for sure.😊
Larry, Pete Maravich LSU ’67-’70 averaged 44 points per game, Clark 28. He averaged 1,222 points per year, Clark 988 per year. Total college games played Maravich 83, Clark 139. Pete Maravich could only play 3 college years. Freshmen could not play. AND no 3-point line.
I'm 71 and I got bored of sports entertainment years ago, but I saw something about a 3 point shooter who could hit from the logo, so I checked HER out, and got hooked, I can hardly wait for that first pro game today. I haven't been this jazzed over ANY pro sport in years.
Dale, Pete Maravich LSU ’67-’70 averaged 44 points per game, Clark 28. He averaged 1,222 points per year, Clark 988 per year. Total college games played Maravich 83, Clark 139. Pete Maravich could only play 3 college years. Freshmen could not play. AND no 3-point line.
As a huge Caitlin Clark fan I’m not sure if that’s it exactly. She’s obviously intelligent, but so are other players. I think what sets her apart is more of the entire package she has, and her confidence and drive. She has that innate winning spirit inside of her that only the greats have. I hope I’m expressing myself well. There’s just something about her that has to do with her vision for the game in the moment, but also long term that can’t be shaken and is different from other players.
CC has gotten me back into the game. I use to watch ND Ruth Riley and Syklar Diggings but they never intrigued me enough to watch the WNBA, but CC style had impressed me and made it fun to watch because she actually loves the game. It shows!! 🎉it’s exciting to watch now!!
Caitlin Clark makes me appreciate women’s basketball and I have forgotten watching the men’s NBA… All they want to do is dunk a basketball and brag on themselves… Kaitlyn Clark has brought back the true game of basketball and skill
The casual fans are a key start for WNBA. If cc can't save the league, no one could. Casual dating is like the casual fan by asking one of their most common questions: "Who's you're friend?" Which one? Angel Reese? Celeste Taylor? Cameron Brink? Haley Van Lith? Gabbie Marshall? Paige Buekers? I can't wait to see cc's friends.
Someone please explain to me how caitlin brand with Indiana will benefit the rest of the league, I mean if the majority Jerseys are sold,, and all the merchandise sales are of her name, fever away n home games are majorly popular, how will the rest of the league benefit, it would be like a restaurant moving into a strip mall, gets load of new visitors, but Itwouldn't necessarily do much for the surrounding stores like pet stores and a dollar store, only the restaurant would generate so much business. So how will Caitlin's popularity affect the rest of the teams in the league, won't it only affect her team?
@@Defender78 Its like Bird & Magic in the 80's. In the 70s nobody watched the NBA, they struggled to get people to tune in for the finals, and college bball was much more popular. Yes many new people were Celtic or Lakers fans, but the league was full of great players like Kareem, Dr. J, Malone, Pistol Pete. So the attention they brought not only made the NBA explode, it brought in more eyes to find those other great players. By your logic, Jordan did nothing to explode the success of the NBA either. And in your example the other stores WOULD benefit from being close to a popular restaurant. Retail is all about foot traffic & having more people in the area b/c of a successful business improves that.
If Caitlin can raise a above average team to compete against the most blue blood heavyweight college teams. She is going to do great. Those haters and detractors have not watched her for the last 4 years. She’s going to do Larry Legend type damage to some of these veterans. They played on stacked teams their entire lives. Never having to carry a team . She’s just different.
@@okedoke1234 yes I am actually a Cyclone rooting for a Hawkeye . She made a believer out me. She’s a generational talent it doesn’t matter what color she is. It translates.
@@okedoke1234 I believe they have a chance at the playoffs. Open things up . Run and gun . Great shooters . Pick and Roll with Boston. I believe they will have amazing chemistry. Former SC and Iowa players. Exciting story
Maravich's record was only for three years as freshmen didn't play varsity in those days, plus , there was no three point shot at that time, just to be fair to Maravich 's numbers. But, take nothing away from Caitlin , as she is the greatest woman's player of all time, no doubt about that.
I've been a Hawkeye fan for years, but it wasn't until CC came along that I got into the womens basketball. She's been amazing for the sport. She'll have an adjustment period but she willl get through it and continue to great things for wormen and the sport. I will follow her in the WNBA which I've never watched before...neither have I watched NBA. I wish her the best in her future endevors.
At this point, the WNBA cannot afford for Caitlin to be anything less than a star. Because if the defences stifle her and keep her from doing her thing, the league will loose millions. All of the players will give up huge future salary. If I was guarding her, I might not be as determined to prevent her from scoring as I would be with other players.
Don't forget, Pete Maravich LSU ’67-’70 averaged 44 points per game, Clark 28. He averaged 1,222 points per year, Clark 988 per year. Total college games played Maravich 83, Clark 139. Pete Maravich could only play 3 college years. Freshmen could not play. AND no 3-point line.
To show you my point of view: I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American, male, and heterosexual. That being said, I honestly believe that the reasons why other WNBA FEMALE figures hate Caitlin Clark, are because she is a great player, White, pretty, and heterosexual. If she were "below average looking" and lesbian, I bet she would be MUCH more welcomed by fellow WNBA players. They're jealous!
Ugly women have always been jealous of attractive women. This isn’t new. It’s been around for thousands of years. You act like you invented the wheel with your statement
The only reason I watched this video is because your banner had Shaq calling her the GOAT and I wanted to hear his explanation for doing that. I watch the video and Shaq is no where in it saying anything of the sort.
He said it, just google Shaq Caitlyn Clark Goat and you will find all the videos and articles about it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1jIAqsK5BtU.html
going to make this very clear. this year's WNBA will be the first year in their 26 year history where they will actually make bank. IF the WNBA support Clark and not continue to drag her through the mud like they have been, however the games that will bring in the most money to both individual teams per game will be the Indiana vs Las Vegas games. People are going to pay thousands to see those Kate Martin vs Caitlin Clark matchups, and I for 1 will not miss those games
First off Catlin Clark is far bigger and better than communist nike is the east she carries herself and still remains humble and engaged with the young fans
At the beginning of the day, it's a business. I have not watched professional sports since Seattle Super Sonics were bought out and moved out of Seattle. Been done with all professional sports...
"Her pro coach said that the Fever were a level below her......................." Now just try to picture someone commenting about any major league baseball player or NFL, NHL, NBA player with the same vocabulary, as in "His big league manager" or "His pro coach", as if the baseball managers and the coaches in the NFL, NHL and NBA can't immediately be identifiable to the majority of those watching major league team sports, lol.
I didn't realize the Caitlin Clark effect was world wide. If she is so big for Nike, then CC got ripped off at 3.5 million per year contract. Nike certainly took advantage of the disparity of the women's league. I see that amount as a start. Contracts can be broken and renegotiated. NIKE is poised to make billions on her. They signed several other men with the similar popularity and marketability to 500 million, to over a Billion dollar contracts over the years. She is a once in a generation phenom.. She deserves a renegotiated contract after her first year - obviously if she delivers. There has to be some contract clause that should allow movement in the total amount and or length of the contract, if she continues her incredible climb. She'll have the leverage at that point.
Yeah she moves the needle. True tipping point here that has already bleed into those drafted with her gaining better deals that past draftee. Combine that with NIL in college and when rising stars like JuJu and others hit the draft then they will start off with better deals too. Add in CC having a few years in the league and big changes are coming. I am in for the ride! GO FEVER!
she is NOT the steph curry of womens bb... she is the steph/magic... or just the bird... because as great a shooter she is she is just as good a [passer... and again... SHE DID NOT BREAK PETE'S RECORD... ITS A DIFFERENT SPORT.. QUIT WITH THE BS THAT PETE'S RECORD WAS BROKEN
Having a hater like Stephen A. Smith speak on this issue doesn't help this video much as he seems to be trying to play both sides. One day he's praising her and the next he's acting like a racist and attacking her.
