Ordered & received mine last month after watching Dwayne's World videos. Bye-bye rotary mower! The CT cuts like a dream! Leaves nice stripes on my low cut centipede grass. Solid build, this thing is a "tank". Shipping weight of 200 lbs. I'm guessing the operating weight is around 150 lbs. You have to think 2 or 3 paces ahead when turning it or mowing around tight areas and curves. The company has great customer service. They sold me a like-new refurbished floor model at a nice discount. They also talked me through a few set-up features after the mower arrived!
Thank You for the in depth look at the California Trimmer. I’m really thinking about purchasing one for my lawn. I’ve been using a push reel mower and I desperately want to upgrade to a power reel mower and get an even better quality of a cut. Thank You for the information
This was a very thorough video. The Cal Trimmer is an awesome machine. I have 2. Both are 25 inches. One has a 4 horse Briggs the other is a kohler 91. Both are original machines from the 60's. I'm thinking of updating one with a new Honda motor. But using them is a lot of fun. I actually look forward to doing my yard work. I also have a couple of Mclanes 20 inches. I like them too. Reel mowing is a whole different level. By the way.... fun fact... the Cal Trimmer always throws the grass to the left. That's good to know when you are close to flower beds. Great Videos. Keep up the GOOD WORK!
Thank you Ryan!!!! Love the fact that you have so many reel mowers and your obviously and enthusiast which is awesome. I appreciate the fun fact and appreciate the support!!!!
Thanks for the video I found it very helpful wish I had seen it before purchasing my cal trimmer to know more about it! Now I do thanks to this video..definitely you tube need more videos like this one! Hope I can see a video on changing oil and back lapping soon great job man..
Awesome video!! I am currently mowing my celebration bermuda w a manual reel mower....I am planning on buying a CT or a McClane...your thoughts? Legit video!!
I’m am putting a video together that may just answer that question. I do have a Mclane vs cal trimmer video on my channel that gives some great information. Take a look and i think you will enjoy the content. 👍🏻
New McLane's are now manufactured with all outsourced materials. I just purchased a Cal Trimmer with the Honda GX160 motor. Takes some adjusting in the turns but the motor is awesome.
It’s a truly a great mower. I enjoys my Mclane but the cal trimmer feel like it’s so much more refined. Like the difference between a muscle car and a European sports car. Both fun, but have a different feel 👍🏻
You set choke on when staring up with the motor cold. After it start you can move the turn the choke off which would be in the forward position (same location as gas lever being on). You can also give it some throttle as well which will help keep it running if it’s cold and the choke is off. If you previously started the mower you may not need to turn the choke as it may still fire up with it off. Hope that helps and appreciate the support and the comment
