They had plenty of countermeasures and all that, and they weren't exactly defenseless against the AC-130. They were in enemy territory, against US & French military, and usually the invading side would have less knowledge on the territory they're invading. I'd say the "enemy" did a pretty good job on fucking up paris, and the AC-130 was almost a gonner anyway since they used MiGs to try and counter it.
Am I the only one that noticed so many S-500's that were not used at all? MW3 made a lot mistakes. Sorry, I take my stories very seriously. I also don't understand how the mission Down the Rabbit Hole is a possibility at all considering that it is in the middle of Russia and Russia wasn't about to let NATO cross the border even an inch, let alone let them reach Siberia effortlessly.
@@V_Champion Which leads me to ask you real quick...... did the AC-130 had escorts itself? How the MIGs gave up on the takedown of the AC-130 mid-fight? That part is kinda hard for me to comprehend.
@@thomasalamar8241 s300,400 and 500 are useless in such front. Artillery,Mlrs, swarm of bombs and much more will destroy it. Air defenses only play its role as deterrence. In a hot war, sead an dead missions will destroy then in the first months...
call of duty has always been a wildly unrealistic game that vaguely resembles a realistic war while drawing much more on hollywood tropes and such. The Tors, S-300s, MiGs, Mi-17s, etc are all just set dressing for the game's scenario, and that's just something to take for granted in these sorts of games. Same as with the setting, as there is no logic to the frontline of the war jumping from Hamburg to Paris to Berlin in the span of mere days. It's all just there to look cool for the player and maybe service the plot a bit (although the story seems to be based on the settings they chose far more than vice-versa) If this scenario were real then the S-300s and MiGs would be gone or the AC-130 would not be operating in that airspace, because both air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles have ranges in the tens (or hundreds) of kilometers and the AC-130 is not going to be deployed in such a risky environment. the AC130 is really only useful for COIN
I've always loved Paris as if it were my hometown, even though I'm from Hawaii. It's such a beautiful city. Been there once for a week. It was one of the best weeks of my life. Playing this mission made me really upset.
Dude am i crazy? I remember the AC-130 getting shotdown? maybe in a different mission, but I swear remembering it getting shot down during the campaign.
@@metalnat27 The LANTIRN system mentioned is only fitted onto F-15s and F-16s, and seeing that the Jester jets has 2 vertical stabilizers, they're most likely F-15Es
They're deep into enemy territory. Not that simple at all. WTF? If the AC-130 would have been flying over Russia itself, then okay. You'd have a point. But that is not the case here. Plus, they did indeed have countermeasures. The MIGs were sent to take down the AC-130.
@Freud Rubang Russians figured out how to make and mass produce portable AA missile systems in the 60s/70s bro. Don't underestimate Russians and their ability to amass stockpiles of equipment. It might be on the older side technology wise but it still holds up and would mess anyone's day up badly
I like the contrast between it and the COD 4 version. COD4 version gives you a typical scenario in an AC-130 in a modern conflict, whereas MW3 gives you a theoretical WW3 scenario in an AC-130
Years later Overlord would be placed before an international court to be found guilty of ordering the destruction of a site of cultural or historical importance.
