People need to realize that you can't just GO to their office, even if you are a huge fan, and expect them to come out and greet you. Please have some respect and if you know where their office is keep it to yourself. It is their job after all.

If this new Call of Duty is promising the 'most realistic war experience', then i expect the main character to get nailed in the head as soon as the landing craft door opens in the Normandy beach invasion.
Imagine, tho. They could set this whole character up, you go through a training sequence with him, you get to know his backstory, his best friend, you are on the landing craft together, the doors open, you jump in the water and suddenly, you get shot in the head and you are dead. That's when you take control of his best friend and the first thing you see is the "main" character's bloodied face, lying dead on the beach.

True, but it would set up an entirely different message: that no matter who you were, you could die at any moment. All these COD games are overglorified slaughter fests where you are some badass dude who mows down tons of enemies. By actually giving us a compelling story like that, they could make something amazing. But no, this one is gonna try and fail, like all other previous COD games.

There are so many underutilised theatres of war when it comes to WW2: occupied China, South Africa, the Middle East, India. When you aren't just doing D-Day and Stalingrad again, you can see the 'World' part of World War 2. There's plenty of room for variety and innovation within WW2, but that won't be nearly as marketable really. I think there's an expectation, that for a WW2 game you need Normandy and the 'classics'. Hopefully, the quest for variety proves me wrong and CODWW2 is a bit more original.
and I don't know where he got that idea that in the Korean War "soldiers were sitting down until a mortar hit their friend", but the conflict itself was extremely mobile unlike huge portions of World War 1. If you take a look at tactical maps of the war you can see how quickly the lines moved back and forth. The city of Seoul itself was taken and lost a total of 4 times. During its last phase it did indeed become a war of attrition centered around the lines between North and South Korea but WW1, especially on the Western Front was almost entirely of that nature and yet Battlefield 1 still covered it. Conclusion: It was a short but brutal conflict. It was also the first proxy conflict between the USSR and the United States during the cold war and saw the introduction of helicopters in small quantities and the first jet-on-jet fighter dogfights in history.
But BF1 is not a WWI game, its a regular shooter in a vaugley WWI skin. An actual WWI game would have you standing in a trench, knee dep in mud in the pouring rain with german artillery pounding your friends into human meat slurry for 6 months straight, then you run across a barren field and get machinegunned to death. The end. BF 1 got it wrong.

Okay, Call of Duty has plenty that they could make games about; they just seem to be scared that no one will buy a shooter that doesn't involve America in some way. Call of Duty: Eastern Front - play as Russia facing off against the germans, or as the germans facing off against Russia. Call of Duty: Invasion of Poland: - Polish perspective of the war. Call of Duty: War of Resistance - Chinese war against Japan during WWII (Why is China always forgotten? they lost over 14 million people.) Call of Duty: Afghanistan - This one's a complete shitshow, loads of room for story. Call of Duty: Civil War - there are so many civil wars taking place AT THIS TIME, nevermind all those in the past. So many wars, plenty to choose from, stop with the American perspective of WWII.
That's what they know because that's what they've been given. If you don't teach someone something (or give them the incentive to learn), they're not going to know about it. What average fps player wanted a WWI game? Not many, because it isn't taught nearly as much in schools, and there aren't nearly as many documentaries or film adaptations. Sometimes you just have to show people what they want.
It's pretty obvious that they are only going back because BF1 was so successful... and even then they took the easiest, most predictable way out, instead of trying anything new. Just as they always do.

BF1 weapons and vehicles were WAYYYYYYY blown out of proportion. You can just carry around a fucking FULLY AUTOMATIC LIGHTWEIGHT machine gun that you accurately aim down sights and fire? Yeah right. Kiss my ass. The fully automatic weaponry was basically only reserved for stationary use and inside of bunkers and fucking required a full crew to operate. Not only that, they jammed constantly and overheated so often sustained fire past a few seconds could melt the metal of the gun. Your typical foot soldier was given a bolt-action rifle. Yes they were different types bolt-action rifles and that would vary further depending on what country you served, but no, the gun you start with can be shot non stop, full auto, accurately with ADS and is just a shit on the level technology back then. BF1 is a shit on WWI history.

AI Let's Play is an amalgamation of concepts I've seen before, tied together in a way that I have not seen before, but Big Knee Lover showed me something that I not only had not seen before, but could not even have imagined.
For the first time in a long time I'm excited for Call of Duty. Of all the things I think the series has gotten away from, I think the biggest is given us something to relate to. Its hard for a human to relate to characters that are demigod androids with jetpacks. Something I remember connecting me with the characters of the original, United Offensive, and CoD 2 was not the main characters that the story focused around. It was the interaction between you and the soldiers to your left and right. All they were were AI with a name color-coordinated depending on how hurt they were. But when you've been fighting through Bastogne, pushing each objective alongside PVT Smith and SGT Johnson, simple AI but keeping up with you every step of the way, you get attached to them. And watching them get cut down by an MG42 or pinged by a sniper was truly heart-wrenching. I definitely miss that feeling and I hope this game recaptures that.

A fan from New Zealand showed up and wanted to meet them, with no notice. Bruce felt bad that they came all the way from New Zealand, but if they go out to meet one fan they have to meet everyone who shows up. Fans need to understand that although they're cool people they are working and running a business. They can't, and shouldn't, just drop everything they're doing to meet you.

I'm actually glad they're bringing a WW2 game back because of the fact it will educate younger generations that will become interested in the history and politics behind the war, and why there was a war. In the end it can only be a good thing. Call of Duty has come in full circle.

Most people dont realize how insane the korean war was. especially if you focus on the famous frozen chosin. there is actually a huge opportunity in the korean war just like battlefield with WWI. I highly recommend to anyone interested int the korean war to read give me tomorrow. It is a fantastic book that highlights how crazy the korean war got and how crazy it is that it is essentially forgotten
I saw Ultraviolet. Actually, the last time you guys mentioned it on the podcast, I ranted about it, raising the same points. Sat through the whole movie without realizing they were vampires (nothing in the movie infers it, they just start hissing at each other in the last fight scene), and weird briefcase kid floating in liquid silver. Am I the only person who gets annoyed when people call games like COD or Battlefield realistic? I understand it's a video game and I perfectly understand trading realism for fun, but in Battlefield 1 you can put on a suit of armor and run around with a machine gun. Realistic? I don't think so.

No, they didn't. There was some applique metal plate armor typically worn on the chest area used by a few soldiers on both sides but it proved too heavy and cumbersome and could only protect against fragments and small caliber pistol rounds so the idea was largely abandoned. I've played Battlefield 1 and what they showed was a full armored knight dude going "juggernaut" on hundreds of Austrian-Hungarian troops. Not only would that suit be ridiculously heavy to even walk in but in they game they have you free wielding a heavy machine gun too. Conclusion: The game took excessive liberties, therefore OP's point is valid.

I've chosen a profession that takes up quite a lot of my time so I don't really have a personal life outside of work and my girlfriend. Watching you guys after I come home from a long day always makes me smile. Call it a friend simulator, or whatever, but you guys do have a profound effect on my life even though I don't know you. I guess I'm writing this today because, two days ago my girlfriend and I parted ways, and so you guys are the only real 'friends' I've got.
