Ohhh, how will she get her revenge?! 👀 love how you called the manager on the Karen that was a jerk with everyone and still demanded to talk to a manager! (Should've specified which manager, eh?!!😂😂😅)
Part of that could be that the manager doesn't utilize nor anticipate using the discount. Also I know my company gave me a non existent discount for the hotel I worked at, but it wouldn't apply anywhere else. One reason I left that industry. I don't plan on staying where I work
I know more about our company policies AND our union contract than most the managers I have worked for. It’s actually not that uncommon for most people you work for to not know these things.
I was a front office manager for a hotel and there were many times my GM came to me to check policies or standards because she didn't have time to keep up with them and she knew I always did. This is very relatable lol at my hotel we got TIPS certified for alcohol sales and I paid close attention to any of the laws that were specific to hotels and when I called out a law that was consistently being broken (and not just by our hotel but others, the manager didn't remember the law, neither did any other staff, and even after emailing and confirming with the Dept of Liquor that I was correct, the owners didn't believe me until they spoke to their own lawyers. The owners were shocked because they'd never seen a hotel obide by the law and they owned several from different chains. 🤷♀️
I love that you upload the whole story to your channel in advance. Watching that, then seeing the shorts uploaded later makes me feel like I had premiere vip access lol.
Had a valet from a sister property insist he get an employee rate at our hotel. He worked for the valet company, not the hotel, and I explained he was not entitled to that discount. After 20 min of arguing, bullying, and a call from a hotel manager at the sister property, we begrudgingly checked him in at an employee rate. When I mentioned it to my hotel’s valet manager, who worked for the same valet company, he made short work of tearing that valet a new one. The valet and the other manager got in a load of trouble from both companies. Ahhhh, love taking out a bully. He got charged the full rate. 😂😂😂
Very true. I had the opposite experience where there were issues with the hotel and when my mom (on my friends and family) brought them to the staffs attention and instead of handling it they threatened that she could get me in trouble for bringing a problem to their attention.
I've had a similar experience when me and my sister were staying under her fiances employee discount.the shower stall floor was cracked (which the manager told us was from renovations and all the rooms were like that) and the room was dirty. they didn't want to do anything because we were under employee rate and told us essentially if we didn't like it to leave. I think my sister's fiance put in a complaint to the hotels GM, because at least according to him the rules state employees are to be treated as equally as guests when staying at a hotel.
Honestly, what worstis the guy walk in thier shoes. He should know way better then the avg person who should still have the common sense to not be rude
Imagine that as an employee from a sister location you're willing to risk your privileges and job to be an absolute ass hole😅. This guy has earned whatever is coming his way and all I can say is, he had it coming
Yes! You absolutely have to behave when you or your friends and family are using the associate or Friends & Family rate. That's why I'm so picky about who I let use the discount. If someone else is misbehaving, that also can impact my privileges!
You act like a POS. If you think you can do better, let's see it. I'll watch out for your channel, Rob. In the meantime, piss off, and have the day you deserve. ❤
When I was training for an upper level position in a hotel chain's call center, the trainer told a story about a number of people from his initial training class. They behaved so badly while they were staying at one of our properties on an employee rate that every single one of them was fired when the hotel employees complained.
I read this on Reddit. No disrespect; it’s very much appreciated. The fact that it was specifically acted out makes a statement on how we in the hospitality industry get to deal with absolute ridiculousness. AND that they were a peer employee. Personally, I think tarring and feathering would be completely appropriate. Publicly.
Hello, thank you for calling the hotel I work at today! How may I help you? *gasp* you want to talk to entitled jerks room?” Got me cracking on the floor
Grant it, I work in retail, but I think the most surprising thing in your videos is how much the manager is actually helpful in getting the situation situated.
I was just on a business trip where this happened. Dude was smoking the good stuff in the hotel and so much that the folks from the floor below us could smell it. It was in the halls, the gym everywhere. The cops even got called in.
