Why are we not allowed to be disrespectful to people who are disrespecting us? Calling her stupid was the right choice, imo. She didn’t care that her words would hurt, so why should they? We learned the golden rule in preschool, treat others how you want to be treated.🙄

all she had to say was "wow that's so many! your parents must have their hands full" and compare it to her life of only have a couple siblings and it would have opened the conversation. instead she decided to insult someone's parents without knowing the entire story the first time they met. She 100% deserved it and honestly he handled it really well because I wouldn't have been so nice had someone called my parents stupid.

My stepdad has 11 siblings and all biological. It's wild and I have lot's of cousin's all around Germany and other parts of Europe. Other people choices is non of her business in the place. It's not his fault for her to make a fool of herself. Don't blame other people for your own stupidity.

My grandparents were social workers then foster parents and people gave us the same looks because I referred to the kids as uncles and aunts or cousins they always took in siblings so they wouldnt be separated so there was always alot of children but I never thought of them as separate from my family because of them being fosters. Actually alot of the kids that ended up going back to their original families still come by and visit my grandparents and still call them "mom and dad" they still call me their cousin and I freaking love that.

my aunt got pregnant on the pill with her first, planned for her second, got an iud (and pregnant) when her third came, and number four came along after she got her tubes tied. funny enough, the second kid got pregnant with twins on an iud at 17 two years ago. some people are just FERTILE

Uh...Not the AH, that sister of OP's fiancé is seriously rude and cruel, the number of kids someone has doesn't matter. Not to mention she'd only JUST met these people, and she thought that INSULTING them was the best way to go for her first time meeting these people. In my opinion, she WANTED to ruin the meeting between the families, what other explanation for her being so rude pretty much immediately.

I wonder if the husband went to the follow up appointment? I’ve heard a lot of stories of men skipping the aftercare appointment where the dr. double checks that the vasectomy was effective and then they end up getting someone pregnant. BUT how on earth could she get pregnant with her tubes tied?!?!? Like they are both very fertile to make that happen

My best friend has 7 other siblings..all related, AT LEAST by half. The farthest I’ve gone in joking is saying “ouch, your poor mom.” Because ouch. If anyone made some comment like this it doesn’t matter if they’re related, its out of line.

About the birth control thing, I have a friend that is a twin, after they were born their dad got a vasectomy, two years later they got pregnant again with another set of twins…they all look identical 💀 sometimes it doesn’t matter how cautious you are, it just happens..

I’m the eldest of 8 kids (I’m 19) and if someone started talking about overpopulation (which is a myth) and started disrespecting my parents I’d get so angry. If you’re going to disrespect others don’t be surprised when people return the same energy

a myth?? it's very real - climate change, over farming, increase density and pollution is one of many outcomes from over population. how do you think famine and poverty arise? you need to read scholarly articles instead of listening to people or reading facebook posts that have the same opinion as you. I study geography and have a deep passion about sustainability on this planet. Having more than 2 children is horrible for humanity sake but also our planets sake. Having large families can be due to poverty (which is one of the reasons for overpopulation and reduced resources) but mainly religious background which is fine but a lot of people who believe in religion neglect science and facts which overpopulation has been proven to be. If you can't be stuffed doing the research and literature reviews on overpopulation then listen to David Attenborough (many youtube clips and new articles) who is an expert in life on earth. be educated please.

My grandma is one of 11- born between that late 1930s to the early 1950s but to a catholic family. It’s a crazy amount of siblings but whose place is it to be rude and also the lack of manners at a situation like that is gross. If you think overpopulation is a problem then you do your part and make sure you don’t add to it instead of judging others. Jeez

I have 5 older siblings and they are all technically my half siblings but none of us have never made that distinction. It is always so weird to me when people would point out that they aren't my "actual" siblings. As if us not having the same dad makes us any less of siblings???? Also my mom got her tubes tied after my brother was born and I was born two days after his 11th birthday and two months before her 40th birthday

I feel this my brother was 16 years older then me and we were still super close never did I say he was my half brother. He was just my brother. We had different moms bit he put forth that effort to have a relationship with me and he was my brother and is my brother. Same with our sister she is my sister. I didn't get to meet her until I was 12(she hates my dad he is super abusive) she faced her abuser just so she could see me and tell me that she loved me and that it wasn't because of me why she wasn't around. I knew cause me dad was abusing me too. We automatically had that sibling bond like we knew each other forever.

My husbands dad is the youngest of 13 kids, 9 from one father, and after he passed away my FIL's mom remarried and had another 4 kids including FIL. Like that's seriously messed up to be judging someone else's family when you don't even know the situation. 🙄 I don't necessarily condone having kids upon kids upon kids because yes our planet is overpopulated, but I don't say that shit to my FIL. That's disrespectful.

Both my parents are have 6 siblings. My mom has one sister and 5 brothers, 2 from her mom and 3 from her dad and 1 that share the same mom and dad. My dad have 1 brother and 5 sisters all from the same parents. Also a family friend have 9 children all same parents. They formed a drum group. Well, I only have my younger brother.

my boyfriend and i were together a little over a month on thanksgiving in 2018, the first time he met my family and as we were leaving my boyfriend said "it was nice to meet you, im sure i will see you around christmas" (mind you, my mom was cranky and bitchy the whole time) and my mom said "probably not, because its cheyenne" my mom overcame a lot since then and has a really great relationship with me, my boyfriend, and our daughter.

Vasectomies aren’t that much of an effort. It’s an easy, relatively non invasive compared to women’s fertility options and have a very fast recovery time.

The sister in law was rude to say all that when she did, but she’s not actually wrong. It is selfish and irresponsible if people were to have so many biological kids. I say this as someone who does have 7 or 8 biological siblings. She didn’t know the situation with the foster siblings, and the brother in law didn’t need to act like she was stupid when she was just speaking out about a genuine problem in the world thinking it applied here because the brother in law confirmed when she asked if the parents HAD that many kids. Had means had biologically. That’s common sense. So he basically set her up for no reason. Her timing was off, but OP is ultimately the A-hole here. Not her.

I have 6 kids and like Morgan mentions I had all birth control fail. Also I had 4 more after my tubal ligation. The only way I stopped was having my uterus removed.

Yeah I knew a few people who had heaps of bio siblings. I was kinda close with one and I'd always joke about how her parent's need a TV. I do look at people with a lot of bio kids kinda weird (think like adopt don't shop with pets. If you must have 10 kids can atleast half of them be taken from the system?) But I can't really judge them. Just like kids are a must in my life having a very big family might be a must in theirs.

My husband is one of 11. He’s number 6 and all biological, no twins either. The SIL would be told off fast within my husbands family hahah. So many people have “lots” of kids. If people can care for the children then why even make a comment ! (My husband and I won’t have 11 kids though 😂)

Also, overpopulation is such an ignorant take on resource distribution or lack thereof. The world has more than enough to supply EVERYONE, it's just that first-world countries take the majority.
