I recently moved back home from fieldwork and forced myself to find a routine quickly there but finding a routine again here has been so hard since there's more writing to do and research to finish. this is very reassuring and motivating
How I understand you... It's almost like there isn't a true break. There's always research to do and life stuff to care of as well. But it gets better with time, it's all about planning and balancing 🤍

It's a lot of trial and error really! The amount of clips I have that look awful is far greater than the ones I end up putting in the videos. Don't be afraid to try out new angles and distances, think about the framing and the lighting :)
5:18, us moment, it felt too relatable. 11:45, all of what you said is so true, there are just so many things going through my head all time, even though I am just a new grad and started my career as an NLP researcher 2 months back. Moving and all other responsibilities make the process harder than it already is. Maybe it’s because I eat too much but it’s a struggle after lunch 💀😂 I’m with you. Work and research is hard enough, but when you put everything else you have to do to, you know, being a functional human, it’s gets hard. I find it really important to not neglect other aspects of your life in search of career, I think they should coexist. I hope your research is going well, and keep taking care of yourself! PhD is an actual degree, still considered education. You do research in a certain area with the goal of learning the research process and come out with a diploma at the end. A post doctoral is not a student position, it’s an actual research job, my oficial position is “senior research fellow”. You can also have masters by research - instead of having classes, you do research in a given topic. It’s similar to a PhD but fewer years and different diploma
I do use my phone more than I’d like, don’t get the wrong idea. It’s something I’m working on. You don’t see it often because I use it as a screen monitor for my camera when I’m filming to check if I’m in focus and well framed. Stuff I found that has helped is just keeping the phone away. Stuff it into a drawer, under the pillows, wherever. Just keep it away. Everytime you get the urge to check it, stop for a second and think if it’s really all that important. Maybe write down what you were going to check and why. I don’t think phones are the devil and should be completely avoided. They’re useful tools. It’s when they stop you from doing what you want to do that they become a problem.

I am getting old, my knees can’t take it anymore 😂 the Colchester one is much better imo. The layout of this one is not as functional, it’s smaller, and not enough mirrors and light 👀 not a bad gym, but I do miss the Colchester one! Well, I did come to England, I’m just saying goodbye to my heritage in every way 🌝
