Jacques Cousteau was a unique person and a true pioneer of the ocean. You will never be forgotten along with your wonderful team of explorers. This song is a reminder for us all of the legacy this man left us.
Excellent!!! Grew up watching his show with my dad, miss them all! JD, what a voice-brilliant song, true tribute to Cousteau!! Thank you for such a great clip!
As a child I idolized that man. He taught me the beauty and poetry of the sea. Johm Denver's song about Cousteau has always given me chills. My deepest gratitude to them both.
As a teenager, I didn’t have a clue what song was about( English being my third language) but I looooved it. Only 10 years ago I learned about it. ❤️💙🤍
@@coolrunnings3 The Calypso was damaged and sunk in a harbour accident in 1997, Very sad, BUT it is currently being rebuilt. I look forward with keen anticipation to the day it is relaunched.
God bless the memory of Jacques Cousteaus ,his Son and all the researchers and cameramen that served us so well.. I love You and remember You still and always will. And to You beloved Singer And song Writer Mr Denver I love You still thank You for Your songs.I /we miss You.
I always wanted to sail on Calypso. She was majestic and at the same time practical. It broke my heart when I heard about her inelegant demise. There will never be another like her. And never another Jacques Cousteau. My husband and I watched all the Cousteau specials. Thanks for this beautiful tribute to an iconic ship, and an iconic man.
I looked it up, if I recall correctly Calypso is being restored. But you have to remember, she was originally built in the 1930s, and had been altered several times throughout h
This is GREAT! The spirit us now aging flower children started in the 60's (we did NOT all do drugs) is captured well here. We promoted the idea that EARTH is our shared home, so we are ALL responsible for taking care of it. I DO wish that spirit would return. Films like this can help. THANK YOU!
@@ColleenW2019 It was a nice sentiment..but without changing each individual MAN...the World will not change for the better! only by pursuing a higher more evolved consciousness can the World be improved..and I believe that were going through that change right NOW...whether we like it or not! Covid 19 was just the start...we are dropping the old ways and learning a NEW way of thought....BTW I WAS and still AM a "Flower child" of the 60'sand WE are special souls!
As a child I wanted to be on the ship with Cousteau, see all the magic of the ocean and its most beautiful creatures. Such a great man and environmentalist
He was my first hero/role model. Finally in my 40s I was able to learn SCUBA, a dream he inspired in me when I was 4. I always get a tear in my eye when I hear this song.
Love this so much and used to really enjoy the trips on Calypso on TV with Jacques Cousteau and his men it was the first thing I saw that showed so much of what we were missing under the water, without all of the stuff we now take for granted. encourages a deep love of the ocean and all it contained then. So much has been damaged and destroyed by humans many fish extinct and reefs destroyed Jacques Cousteau would be devastated along with John Denver who spent time with Jacques on Calypso. I know I am💔😪 Thanks to John Denver who composed this beautiful song that when I sing along with him I can picture the beauty of the ship and the wonderful crew and all that encapsulated. The films with this were lovely to see again too. Thanks so much for sharing💖
Cousteau. Denver. Has there been two names since that have brought such passion, inspiration and genuine love for all that matters? Salud to you both and miss you! And thank you, Jeff, for a powerful testament.
My hero. My dream was to be like him. Live teach me, dreams not always come true. Hope more and more people share his way of live and think. He change the way many people see oceans and marine life. We miss you dear friend!
💕👍DANKE 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀
Beautiful tribute to Jacque Cousteau and the Calypso. Jacque was a role for all an inspiration. Grew up watching the ocean adventures series! Very educational compared to now. Great track from John Denver. Rest in Eternal Peace ❤😢
I loved watching Jacques Cousteau when I was a child, I was filled with such wonder at the tings he brought to us. But I fear his beloved Calypso has become a vessel that lives only in memory, she will never return to the sea because she became the victim of an incompetent owner. Even if Francine is actually able to bring her back to the sea someday, it will be too late, the generations have moved on, the young people of today could care less about her. It's time to let beautiful Calypso pass into legend and allow her sail the dreamscapes of those who grew up watching her.
Beautiful Vídeo of the Tribute to a great Ocean lover and Captain of The Calypso. Since i was a child my dad and I were truth Fans of the Adventures of the whole crue. Never missed a program and became an Ocean lover. John Denver Colors this wonderful tribute with he's song. Gray Production made with Love. Thank you very much!.
My great passion for the sea was born thanks to my father who was a great swimmer and above all a fan of underwater fishing but I also owe it to the documentaries of Jacques Costeau and his inseparable Calypso. It pains me to know that the vessel has come to a bad end. The most devastating bureaucracy of ocean waves. Thanks for your beautiful video.
When Calypso was coming to Fl he was on the boat radio had a chance to talk with him ! Great man and to this day I still respect him and he truly taught me to respect the ocean! And we need to start cleaning up!
I loved when Jean Michelle said in a documentary that John dedicated the proceeds from this song to the Calypso Foundation. He was tasked with depositing the checks and they were very very big ones.
Yet they're still more intelligent than the both of you and clearly had better upbringings. You've got to pretty much be trash to get upset over what people do or don't click like on on RU-vid.
My childhood hero! (Apart from my Dad), I loved Cousteau and I watched 'The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau' avidly. I also liked John Denver and remember a documentary of John sailing with Jacques on Calypso.
Damn shame this legendary vessel sits in a dry dock in ruin because people can't seem to see beyond the money. If the nations of the world were as quick to find the funds for peaceful purposes as they seem to do for violence and inhumanity, we'd be so much better off. Someone please SAVE THE CALYPSO!!!!!
Beautiful video. This old Broad just took in a 15 year old shelter cat. New name. CALYPSO. Calypso rose. Is still singing at age 80. Great memories of Cousteau. Let us pass the torch now to the next generation to preserve and love our planet. I have been on a boat in the Pacific to get a glimpse of a whale and. FREEZE. VIDEO IS A BETTER VIEW AND CALYPSO AND I ARE COSY AND WARM. Her special song is calypso. Banana boat. Daylight come and me wanna go home. CHO CHO SAN. Is a writer in phoenix az. Feb. 9. 2021
I must apologise for finding this link so late since its release! I grew up as a kid in Australia always waiting for the next TV episode - it was a much watched viewing. My appreciation and education of the ocean etc as I'm sure for many viewers back then was a revelation, inspiring many to pursue a career as marine biologists or simply ardent advocates of marine conservation. One thing I'll never forget is simply hearing him narrate the episode - I knew as a young kid I was up for an hour of amazing wonder.
