This hands down was the best video I found. I ended up just using a 1/2 inch drill bit for the hole to get to the rivet. This literally made a headache of a job and 30 minutes of time into a 10 minute repair. I highly highly doubt the 3 1/2 inch holes I put in the door would change any type of structure to the door lol.
I went through about half a dozen videos until I arrived at yours. This explains everything straightforward and I much appreciate the video from inside the door. Thanks! Edit: I replaced the driver's side motor on my '00 Camaro SS with the info from your video today. Encountered no problems and everything works again!
I wasn't going to like the video because of how big the holes were made, but Taco Bell is life, so not only you get a like. You also received a subscribe, thank you for the content.
Awesome video. I’ve been thinking about fixing my window for awhile now but couldn’t find an easy way todo so. This video was super simple and straight to the point👍🏻
About the little bezel. Hi! I've changed the loudspeakers on my 2000 Z28. The control bezel : You 1st have to gently remove the door panel (carefully lift it), let a friend hold it, then carefully press the metal clips of the bezel FROM INSIDE. You have just enough wire lenght to safely do it, and you'll never ever break that little bezel again nor scratch the hard plastic around the bezel. Thanks for the video! I've ordered the passenger window motor, I guess it's just about the same as the driver side.
Bought my 98 camaro today and the driver side window doesn’t work and you, my friend just made my life so much easier with this vid. Definitely doing this tmrw! Thank you! Oh and you just got yourself a new subscriber 🙏🏾
My 99 z28 driver side just went out…I had a 97 ws6 and it took me almost 2 hrs to do it correctly lol. I will be putting holes in my door for the z28. Thanks a bunch man, very informative!!! Earned my sub.
Thanks for that inside door view. Now I have a better idea what the motor is doing. I've needed to replace my passenger door a while now. But I really hope you had a mask on when drilling those holes. Fiberglass is not something you want to breath in, even just a bit
I did one door some years ago and should have done the other at the same time but too lazy, had to watch your video to remember how to do it thank heavens for RU-vid and people like yourself. The start of my problems started with a short drive just to take it for a spin, then I noticed the Air Conditioner did not work when at home I changed the relay with a new one and got that going then noticed window slow then stopped moving. So tomorrow morning I will be changing the motor (had purchased previously when I did the other side) Love driving this car but getting tired of working on it. Thanks for the video hope mine goes as smoothly as yours Graeme in Australia.
Done ! Big holes would have been the go, I did it with smaller hole and had difficulty in getting those bolts and nuts fitted my kit came with 6 nuts and star washers and 6 bolts guess these motors from Rockauto are used for other cars as well. Anyway used the 3 nuts and bolts for the Camaro and noticed I had 3 screws and star washers and only 2 nuts left over ?. Did drop some in the door a few times but could not find it even tried a magnet no joy. Just hope it’s not next to the gear assembly. These cars are made cheaply I noticed the door lining is made of 2 parts and held together by glue and some plastic nipples that go through the second half of the door panel then GM melted the end so it held together. Mine had come away just at one end but decided to leave it as it did not stick out. Last night I must have done this job 20 times in my dreams ALL WORKING now Big thanks. Graeme in Australia
Hello mister, just wanted to say thank you, thank you for keeping it simple and fast, I just fixed my trans am window motor today thanks to your video, and of course safe some money, thank you again
Dude, just wrapped up. I can't thank you enough brotha. Heading to taco bell myself right now. Seriously, thank you very much for sharing!!! You got my follow.
...as far as Project ZRS goes, I've had so much going on with family, work and other projects/obligations that I've not gotten to work on it. But, that's not to say that stuff isn't happening behind the scenes with it. I was able to find some parts that I'm super excited to share with you, as soon as I can get to it!!
Damn you made this look easy cuz taking out that motor was a pain in the ass, but without this video it would have been even worse so I thank you. Cant believe they made it so hard to service.
I'm so glad I came around your video! my brother is having this done to his car right now but the guy doing it removed a lot and did way more then you did. when I do mine I'm just gonna drill those holes cause that is so much easier and much less time consuming! Great vid!
Oops, I forgot about the glass dropping, Glad I watched this first and saw you clamp it up. Great time to update to a better new speaker too. Big Holes make a car lighter/faster. Hahahaha
Just got a 2002 Camaro SS and drivers window will go up and down but super slow and won't go all the way up leaves a little gap I am assuming it just isn't strong enough. Passenger is not working at all. When you were testing the new motor do you have to realign the gears?
Grabs wooden paddle bit and proceeds to drill through door 😳.... Grilled Cheese burrito here I come!great idea with those clamps on the window glass 👍🏾.
Not sure if there was a slow death with this window but my passenger side is basically dead. It would go some down but stop and it would move again after sitting for a few minutes. I had to pull up on window while using button to get it to close all the way. Now it's just unresponsive. Assuming it's the motor, both window buttons had the same results. This video will help.
Dreading the day I need to do this to my bird. Looks simple enough though. I really need to address the power windows on the Poorvette. 😬 nice job bro. Oh, lay off the Taco Bell. There’s only so much raccoon meat a guy should eat. 🤣
I just did this on My 98 trans am the drivers side was easy but my passenger side window is stuck down....hope I can do it the same way I did the drivers side
What kind of b.s. that they're riveted in? When they knew damn well those motors and regulators would go bad. Do you still have to drill out of replacing the entire regulator?
Question im not sure if it my motor because the switch wont move the passenger side either, but I already changed the switch and the pigtail and the drive side still wont do anything either side but the button on the passenger side works fine so j know the fuse is good im stuck
Does anyone know a different way to keep the window from falling down after removing the motor? I'm not sure if I have a clamp like he shows. Also, can I drill through the fiber glass with the same drillbit used to remove rivets? (Wear a mask when cutting fiberglass)
I still remember the uneasy feeling I got when I realized the fourth gens doors were all composite. Seems like there would be a crash bar or something in there!
