Best setup all around setup has been iPhone 13 pro with Rode Video Go microphone.
My Canon m50 is great for still photos or video on a stationary tripod.
The Sony ZV1 m2 is good expect for the stabilization and the video quality is slightly less than iPhone.
Hopefully done with camera issues for a while. Thanks for your patience.

Thank you Brain for your update! I had no idea you went to so much trouble and expense to do a video for your channel! It makes me more appreciative of what you do! I am just a fan of yours and now I will really appreciate what you do! I know you make some money for your work , but you put in long hours editing ect. So I thank you for your efforts and I do enjoy your work! ❤😊

As a filmmaker and a professional video editor, I do enjoy dissecting what equipment RU-vidrs use, how they use it, their mannerisms, and everything right down to editing. No pressure or anything. :p I have a lot of equipment and toys but most of the time, I'm just using my Samsung phone for my videos. lol Keep it simple and light weight. Especially when you are just one person. I have been thinking about getting that new DJI mic 2 set up. I've only heard good things about it. I wonder if it happens on Samsung phones. But equally, my phone has a giant Otterbox on it so idk if it would even mount correctly. I also use GoPro in my arsenal as a go-to. I think they are great and have never had any issues with any of the 3 GoPro models that I have owned. It's crazy to hear your experiences with them. Those are the exact issues I have with Apple. They never want to help. It's always "Just get the next one". And they consistently fail after the 2 year warranty. It's like they know. lol
@AdventureVanMan
@AdventureVanMan Месяц назад
Thanks Blake. I think the DJI wireless work good with Samsung because they're USB-C. Yeah, I know a lot of people that have had no issues with GoPro but I also know many that have the same freezing issue as I do. I guess it all is to be expected with all this tech.

We went through a spat of camera issues and wireless microphone issues. We lost several episodes which was very discouraging. We never did find a sweet spot of portability, quality, and reliability. The most luck we had was shooting with our iPhones when the wind was calm or sound wasn't important and a GoPro with a wired microphone with a deadcat when we needed good sound in windy conditions. The wireless mics worked well when they worked, but were unpredictable in causing issues. The Sony camera did not work for us, either, and was returned after filming one episode with it. I feel your pain!

I experience altitude sickness. I get massive headaches and sleep a lot. It important to prepare oneself before heading out. My research show drinking water with Himalayan salt at least a week before is good. Also gradually increasing your elevation. I’m sure there are other suggestions to help one adapt to higher elevation.

Hey Brian. As my grandfather would say don't feel like the Lone Ranger Tonto. Suggestion?? Just use your DJI mic and have it record internally. Then just sync the audio inside Final Cut. That way you don't even have to connect to any iPhone. Record audio on your phone and just that audio to sync with your good audio from the mic. Hope this helps.

Hi Brian. Not sure if anyone else has commented on DJI mic 2. I am able to use mic 2 on my iPhone 12 and my iPad as well over Bluetooth directly. I just paired both mics and was able to record with both without using receiver. Never had previous version so not familiar with how it worked. I use the mic 2 with my pocket 3 and it has worked well. I don’t have an action 4 but read the mic 2 works with it directly like the pocket 3. Love your videos no matter how you make them.

Love your channel Brian! I've found it best to purchase a cheap ($50 or less) pocket voice recorder with a 3mm mic input. Let the camera record whatever it gets but sync the voice recorder in post production with the cameras sound. Once the two sound recordings are in sync, hide or delete the camera's sound track. Even a cheap voice recorder with a Rode mic or lavaliere mic sounds good. I bet it would even work with your dji wireless mic. Thanks for the hard work on the channel. - Allen P.S. Completely agree about GoPro. Can't stand them for the exact reasons you mentioned.

You probably know this all ready on the diji mic, but you can record directly to the wireless clip on and then sync it in post production later without much hassle. Just snap your fingers when you start recording to get a baseline (just in case you can't return it)

My problem with the Iphone 13 is the fact shooting from a very sunny day and with out any shade looking back into a shaded area you lose definition but looks good from shade to sunny area's and another thing you got to watch for is sun glare its real bad about that or you get a foggy look it depends on were the sun is they have a way to go this is just my 35 years of amateur photographer experience.

My main camera for video's has been the Sony ZV-1. And your right. Even with Stab on Active, you really can't walk around with it to get smooth video.
