Stage 28 of the Camino Frances, from Triacastela to Sarria via Samos, along the pretty southern route. We pass through almost deserted villages, along streams and through woods, stopping for snacks in Samos with it's stunning monastery. The route then leads along the river then through more woodland. Lunch is at A Fonte das Bodas: a homely, wonderful place surrounded by meadows and woods, with great home-cooked food and a large, intriguing garden. Then it's on to Sarria, where we end our Camino for the time being. I'll post more about my thoughts about this interruption next, although I say a little on this subject at the end of this video. Doing the Camino is sections has its pros and cons!

Entre Triacastela y Sarria se recorre una de las partes más hermosas del Camino. También el interior del país gallego muestra la belleza de Galicia. Gracias Lindsey Holland por mostrarnos vuestra aventura del Camino de Santiago.

I’m sorry I missed this until now! I’m also glad you enjoyed the footage. Andrew and I enjoyed meeting you both. I’m wondering how your Camino Portugués went, and whether you’ll return to do another this year?

@@lindseyhollandwalks We walked one day on the coast and then the central route. We are off again May 8th 2024 Porto to Santiago coastal and spiritual variante route. Not long now. We are planning to walk from Le Puy to Conques in September.

Oooh when will you reach SdeC, and will you walk beyond it? The Le Puy section will be beautiful, and I imagine very different in atmosphere

Dear Lindsey and Andrew Wow!🙂 In the last few weeks I have hiked all the Camino Frances with you. The looong videos and your fine, unobtrusive manner with your lively explanations made me happy and reminded me of my own Caminos. Many thanks to you both 🙂 Warm wishes from Switzerland, Beat Weber.

Thank you for this lovely comment! I’m so glad you felt this way, and that you’ve enjoyed watching the videos for so long! It’s so nice to know 🙏 I’ll make more from the Camino when we walk Sarria to Finisterre and Muxia next year so I hope you’ll enjoy them too. I’ll keep them long 😁

I finished just ahead of you last year on July 2nd. It was my first camino, SJPP to Santiago, and I must say, I didn't like the last 5 days at all and neither did any of my Camino family. From Sarria onwards it was full of school kids and tourist pilgrims. The whole atmosphere of the Camino had changed overnight. Not my cup of tea at all. Cheers and thanks for the memories

Sorry these videos have come to an end, so wonderful to watch! Have you decided when/if you will finish the Camino Frances, or try another route?

I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to reply! Yes, we’ll be returning soon. I’ll post an update in the coming weeks. It’s been a turbulent year. It was lovely to see you’d enjoyed the videos! Thank you so much for commenting

I recall this being a very verdant section cool and beautiful. The last 50 K on the Camino before Santiago, I got so depressed! Didn't want it to end.

Did you go on to the coast, and will you next time? For me, the last 50k seems very abstract because of doing it in sections. I’m not sure what an end feels like! I’m currently considering going back sooner than I expected to-very undecided still-but will say more in the next video.

@@lindseyhollandwalks No, I didn't go to Finisterre. I had plans to spend a couple of weeks in a monastery, which was awesome beyond words. I shoulda been a monk. I love the UK., the Lake District is sooo beautiful, even though the jets playing tag over the lake is a bit spooky sometimes. I'm going back this Sept. to see the Grail in Leon, and the other one in Valencia.

@@lindseyhollandwalks Did you see the billboard out of Villafranca de Montes de Oca? The one that said, in several languages, "take no pictures, light no fires. We are watching you." Hardly anyone sees it because we all have bent backs trudging up a long hill. The only reason I saw it was I paused to stretch my back.

I think I may have seen that. I’ve a vague recollection of it, but I would have moved on quickly and tried to forget it because it’s not very pleasant! Not very effective either given that people are walking away so don’t see it. How strange

Hey Larry....when we got to 100km we also did and didn't want it to end! Such a mix of emotions that the Camino brings! 👣

What was the name of the dot com you said you used for distance and route please
@lindseyhollandwalks
@lindseyhollandwalks 2 года назад
It’s godesalco.com, then scroll and choose the Planificador, then it’s the top route, Camino De Santiago if you’re doing the Frances. This link should take you straight to that route page: godesalco.com/plan/frances

do you have vids of walks in Wales?
@lindseyhollandwalks
@lindseyhollandwalks 2 года назад
I actually do, in particular one of Cadair Idris (harder than any Camino Frances stage, in my view, albeit not as long). I might put it up at some point. I may go hiking in Wales again soon so will film that too.

@@lindseyhollandwalks Wales is another beautiful place, the people even more. That's what I love about travel: we all really want the same thing, it's governments and their egos that get in the way peace.
