I’ve used it on our old camper and it help keep the camper cool, sealed up good around everything. We bought a new camper in 2018 and I put a coat on it the second year. Brushing gets you a thicker coat then rolling and it will dry quick in the sun, caution that the amount in the pan doesn’t sit too long. I’m a fan of this. And for anyone buying it be sure you get the Tropi-cool for RV, they make a few different kinds!

@@luismajano9191 I’m sure it would stick but not designed for that and it would cost a good bit to cover the whole thing and I doubt you would be happy with the results.

My camper began leaking in a couple places...Around the A/C unit and also the shower and front ...Got a can of Flex seal and sprayed in a couple spots..It helped, but gonna have to do the entire "ruff" like you did... Was thinking about selling it pretty cheap and lose a couple thousand or so, but 2 gallons for 125 bucks is the way to go now...32 foot Dutchmen.. Very informative.. Thanks..

I did two coats on my 2001 clas A 32 footer and love it. Went on great and looks great and washes easy. My one concern was that nothing sticks to it like eternally tape and decor. BUT I was informed by somebody if you clean the area first with paint thinner things will stick like they should. So Ill do a third and fourth coat this spring.

Love the video thank you May I please have more information on how to replace the broken vent? I have the same problem and I don't know how to do it 😅
@CKKnifeandTool
@CKKnifeandTool 6 месяцев назад
1. Peel away old caulking (probably white) 2. Vent has 1/4” hex screws (perhaps self taping) so remove those to remove vent 3. Clean area where old vent was including old caulking/ adhesive 4. Install new vent with new screws, self taping and preferably stainless steel but not necessary. 5. Caulk generously 6. Enjoy the fruits of your labor 😁

When you use a roof coating like Henry (which I’ve used) it’s imperative that you clean the roof very good or else it will peel off as you go down the highway. Your kids did a good job of cleaning, but I give it a final wipe of acetone then tape off anything you don’t want it on with blue painters tape. Excellent video. You saved yourself a $5000 roof job (or at least put it off for a year or two!)

I have used Henry's multiple times myself on multiple different RVs. 1 RV that I still own and have had Henry's on for 7 years. I wished I would have cleaned and scrubbed better.... Just take your time and dont try to ger a 36" Rv w/ 3 slides all done in one day... That's what I did washed let it dry in Texas sun and coated all at once I feel it was too rushed and I didn't put enough on in some areas. I do believe that is the same issue I have only in a very small sections though so I am putting on Henry's overtop of Henry's for a 3rd and 4th coat this season but I am washing with dawn the soap Thoroughly rinsing and then right before coating I am giving a final wipe down with rubbing alcohol. I really think that is the problem in the areas that I have trouble with it just wasn't quite clean enough maybe a micro drop of oil spread out underneath to keep contact either way I should have rubbed it down with rubbing alcohol or acetone or something that will thoroughly decrease it... It doesn't say to do that just like it doesn't say before you paint your fingernails to wipe them down with acetone but Every salon does it because they know that's what causes it to bond better oils are the enemy.

Have you noticed any delamination between the silicone and the original roof? I love silicone. It does age well and tolerates UV better than just about anything else, but sometimes its problematic. It doesn't stick to anything, so it tends to delaminate. Also, nothing sticks to it, so if the coating fails, good luck trying to put some Eternabond or Lap over the top of it. You might as well be trying to caulk a stick of butter. However if it's working for you, great.

I ended up re doing mine with a product called crazy seal. It has three separate parts (caulk, patch, and seal). Pretty darn expensive (roughly $1,000, obviously depends on size), my trailer is 26 feet long, and I had enough to do three coats. It was 25% the cost of having another company come and do it for me.

Great video! Are you supposed to put the tropi cool over the self leveling sealant around the skylights and other vents on top? Will that create issues when you go to redo that sealant?
@CKKnifeandTool
@CKKnifeandTool 5 лет назад
Not at all. You can still do repair and replacements of items that protrude from the roof top. Henry's makes the Tropi-cool makes a calling of the same material to repair such a thing. You could also just buy a can and apply a new coating in that area and use the rest to apply another coat to the roof.

I did the same coating as he did 15 months ago. I also have a hybrid trailer and our roof was in even worse shape where a LOT of black was showing through and the inside of the trailer was hotter than outside on a routine basis. We cleaned the roof as he did but really scrubbed it and wiped it down quickly with acetone (which took off a lot more white from the roof), we laid down the first coat reasonably thick, let it sit for about 2 hours then laid down a second coat a bit thicker. First and foremost once applied it made a MASSIVE difference temp wise inside the trailer, at a minimum it knocked down the temp inside the trailer 20 degrees if not more. The AC is FAR more efficient now than it was previously. I'm in AZ and it used to take about 2 hours to go from 110 to 80 inside the trailer if not a bit longer, now with the coating and nothing else we do that in a bit under an hour. average temp in the summer inside the trailer is about 6-8 degrees or more cooler than the outside temp. If the temp outside is high 90's we can get down to high 70's inside the trailer in about 25-30 mins tops. best part of the coating is that once it's applied and dried off put your hand on the roof, it's cool to the touch and likely a bit colder than the outside temps. I'm willing to bet before you did the application of it you could sear a steak on the roof. It has made such a huge difference for my trailer that a few friends of mine have done or are doing this same stuff this fall once it cools down. A friend of mine got a 2018 5th wheel with dual 15k AC's, his AC's barely kept up when the temps hit mid 90's. After a while he wanted me to help him do his trailer with the henry's stuff, we did it and his AC's now run more than half the time and it will nearly freeze them out of the trailer. Durability wise I've inspected it often and found that there are no issues with peel up or anything else. This stuff is worth every penny!

I agree! I did one coding two summers ago, then a second one last summer although I didn't really need to. It's awesome, I have a 1998 Bounder and in torrential rains both in Oregon and in Southeast Texas for days and days and days on end, I've had zero leaks since I applied the Henry's. I'll probably add another coat this winter when I'm doing an inspection just because.
