Black Mesa State Park was our first camping trip of 2024 and it was great.
You may not think the Oklahoma Panhandle has anything to offer, but Black Mesa is a hidden gem you need to visit.
With the abundance of wildlife, trails and odd things to see, your weekend will be filled with wonders and forced relaxation. I could not get over how quiet this place was and loved the solitude it gave me. Even though people were there, everyone was respectful and stayed to their own.
Polly the Park Ranger was super helpful and kind. If you go, look her up.
Even though we did not have the chance to do the star gazing we hoped for, the dark skies was almost like being in a cave with the lights out. We could not see our hand in front of our faces. This makes us want to go back to see the heavens all lit up.
I know this video was long, but it was hard to get in everything we did in a short 15 minute clip.
Needless to again, we really enjoyed Black Mesa State Park and encourage y'all to give it a shot. Remember to stay courteous with the noise and the lights.
