Suggest you do what I did with my P2….put in a 12v outlet (cigarette outlet) in the frunk, that is directly connected (fused) to the 12v battery. It’s a 15 min DIY job. Then you can connect a heater (or cooler in the Summer) to this outlet that won’t turnoff/time out. And, as the 12v battery drops, the traction battery will automatically re-charge the 12v battery.

If you would do this again, just set up a few pre heating timers in the app. I just tried and set 4 of them in a row with 1,5 hour in between. That would keep you warm for a while I guess. :)

That is really smart! I just checked and could easily add 7 timers, so might give that a try just to see what happens during the night.

@@BasinBjorn did you try keeping a heavy bag on your driver's seat to keep your car on? it might tick the car

I have a Volvo V70 (regular fuel) and love using it for camping. I really wait for them to make an all-electric version of that car, it's the perfect car in my opinion. Thank you for telling me your height, I am the same.

Setting a bunch of climate timers, one hour apart, would do the trick I suppose.

Nice video, enjoyed. My last car was Audi A6 Avant, in which I could have laid down in. Very good car, I would buy another. For sleeping the night I would use a sleeping bag, and no need to run the cars heater when in sleeping bag. Currently I have Mercedes E class, but don't really feel the same bond with the car that I had with my A6 Avant. Thanks for nice video, enjoyed, and good luck with the channel.

Great video 👍 I remember some reviewer said the car is activated by weight in the driver seat. Can you try placing a heavy item in the seat ( few jugs of water?) To see if the car would be fooled and keep the heat on all the time? Thank you very much

You could schedule the preconditioning to come on at hourly intervals

så en video fra Tesla Bjørn der han sov i bilen, mener han bare tok i belte på fører setet og så gikk ikke bilen av i løp av hele natten, og han brukte ca 10% batteri den natten

Put something on the driver seat to make the car think someone is sitting in car this way it won't turn off automatically

black face mask and a hoodie solves the light problem. What was the SOC in the morning?

Polestar don't have camp mode like Tesla? Tesla have camp mode which allow the person sleep the entire night, no need to start the tesla.. it maintains the temperature throughout the night. Also the camp mode on the Tesla allows to watch movies on the main screen even if you,re not in the car and decide to leave the movie for your dog. I,d like to have the polestar but i wish it had the camp feature of the Tesla.

Can't you leave something heavy on the driver's seat so it thinks someone is there bucle up the seatbelt. Leave it in drive with creep mode off. That should work I think 🤔
@BasinBjorn
@BasinBjorn Год назад
Well I never tried leaving it in drive, but I later learned that it is possible to schedule the climate to start for 30 min at a time at a bunch of different times. For ex once every hour or second hour. That way it might give just enough heat.

If you connect driver seat belt. Then climate will keep on more than one hour?

It sucks that it turns off. So even if you have weight on the driver seat, it'll turn off?
@BasinBjorn
@BasinBjorn Год назад
Yes, it will turn off. I’ve been sitting in the drivers seat while AC charging and the car/ heating turns off.

Vad hade du för överdrag för passagerarfönstrena bak? Såg inte ut att behöva tejpa dom? :)

I usually end up pressing the play/ pause button maybe 10 times. That wakes the car up.

@@BasinBjorn hi Bjorn, I have a P2 also and I’m trying to determine whether it is better for me to buy a rooftop tent or simply sleep inside and use the roof rack to store cargo. Can you offer advice about which sleeping solution you prefer and why? It’s just me and my 75lb dog. My options would be: rooftop tent and store my cargo inside the vehicle. OR, sleep inside the vehicle and have access to heater/AC and store all my cargo in a roof box.
@BasinBjorn
@BasinBjorn Год назад
@@snowpeaker Well that not an easy decision. Sleeping inside the car wasn’t that bad. But sleeping in the roof top tent did for the most time get cold, because of the lack of insulation throughout the floor. Also the tent is noisy to drive with, increases consumption more than a storage box on the roof. But you’d get more space on the roof, in a RTT. Then there’s the price of an RTT and a small chance that it could damage the roof. I did like my tent setup but one “flaw” was that every time it had rained and I had to pack it in the whole tent got soaked through. So the next time I unpacked it was wet. Does it rain often where you live? Maybe the cost doesn’t matter? I’d say: rent a RTT and put on your P2 to try it out.
@snowpeaker
@snowpeaker Год назад
@@BasinBjorn Thanks for your reply! I do live in a rainy environment, Oregon USA. I am looking at a Thule RTT for 50% off MSRP, it has a smaller footprint so I could fit a small roof box next to it as well. That is why I am curious about your experience and what you end up using more often. The RTT would have ventilation and allow breezes, but has the cons you mentioned. Sleeping inside the car and using a larger cargo box would be cheaper but maybe sleeping in the car is cramped (I am shorter than you) and the lack of air ventilation might not be comfortable?? Do you find yourself using the tent or sleeping in the car more often?
