Nice bracket. Would have been easier to see if you had just had the light off the plate to film it and screw it back together filmed. The way the camera caught it, cant see it well enough to feel like I could re-create it. But the general idea is great and I'm sure i will figure it out. Your rig looks great..! I'm making some 45 degree rock light brackets for underneath, so the light shoots out the sides better for the side cameras at night if I'm driving close to a rock , hydrant, other vehicle, ect. 3 on e ach side tucked in behind the rock sliders. I like your nylock nut idea.. be sure when you use them that your bolt goes fully into the nylon. Those are great !

Sherpa is a fairly new company and I made these before they came out with their version. I like to think I sparked an idea for them Hahah. The guys over at Sherpa are awesome dudes and I’ve chatted with them a couple of times.

Prinsu did recently came out with their roof rack handle which can accept BD rock or dome lights but it’s angle is only about 15 degrees.

Would you say that mounting a few of these on the sides are better than a single (or maybe 2) S1 on each side with a diffused work lens? (potentially the amber wide) I like the size of these better but am worried they may be a bit too dim for my application. I would use the dome light versions though so I can turn them on and off independently. How easy is it to set up camp and see around the vehicle with these on? I’m sure the video doesn’t do the light output any kind of justice.. I’m looking to have enough light for night camp setup and activity’s but not so much as to be blinding or ruin my night vision.
@TrailReady4Runner
@TrailReady4Runner 3 года назад
This is a tough question to answer. The red lights don’t put out a ton of light but you can see around the campsite, it doesn’t effect your night vision at all. I normally bring out two extra camp lights when I need more light or if my kids are around just so I have more coverage of light. If you went with white they should in theory produce a brighter light even though they have the same output. The main reason I went with red is to detour bugs at night, It really does help. I went with a rock lights because I only have one battery and I was hoping to use them for multiple nights without killing my battery. From my testing I can run about two nights with no issues waking up and starting the car. If your main goal is just to just have light in order to set up camp then I would definitely go with the S ones because of their light output (Lumens: 2,375 & Wattage/Amps: 20W / 1.45A) compared to Lumens: 400 & Watts/Amps: 4/.40) . In the future I think I’m gonna add one more so That there three on the side of the vehicle. I hope this answers your question.

Trail Ready 4Runner Thanks for the quick response! Yeah, that definitely helped. I like the way you were thinking about the application. I might end up doing an S1 and a rock lights so I can have night lights and brighter camp setup light. Thanks again.

You need longer carriage bolts for those. Your screw thread isn't in the nylon lock of the nuts, and they will definitely vibrate loose. Looks good though.

Nice video. Question. How did you get the wire true the cabin?
@TrailReady4Runner
@TrailReady4Runner 3 года назад
So the wires go to the back of the truck where the hatch is that and then they come down in from that tube that goes from the rear hatch door to the rear hatch. I made a small incision towards the bottom of the tube and slip the wires inside and then resealed it with silicone
@emadventures6975
@emadventures6975 3 года назад
Did you connected all of them next to each other and have only 1 wire to the switch?
@TrailReady4Runner
@TrailReady4Runner 3 года назад
I have the two on the side of my vehicle connected to one switch and the two under my rear door are connected to another switch. They don’t pull that much power, I believe it’s about .40 Amps so you could have multiple on one switch.
