Just to let you know, the size pan your using is about the size you should use maybe an inch bigger. The pan should not go too close to the tank or it may over heat and could explode. It is a known fact. Cast iron pans should not be more than 10 inches. Enjoy your new stove,I use it quite often if you are aware of potential dangers. Thanks

*The GS-800P model will also take Propane.* *The "P" at the end of the model number indicating the Propane.*

The cylinders can actually be refilled especially for propane. You only need to buy an adapter that will work with a 20 lb propane tank. You also have dual fuel portable stoves that can use both propane and butane.
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 3 года назад
Well, you can’t actually refill those butane cylinders, and hooking up a 20lb. propane tank kind of defeats the portability of the whole thing, don’t you think?
@bantrump9594
@bantrump9594 3 года назад
@@TheOneCanoe Not the butane cylinders, just propane cylinders of any sizes. In America, one can only get refill for propane cheap in 5 to 40 lb propane tanks. In other countries, people can get refill for butane or both instead. That's why you see a lot of portable butane stoves available, especially in many Asian countries where the operating temperature is higher.

@@TheOneCanoe there is an adapter that allows for refilling 1 lb. propane canisters

Thank you for the info!How often do you go camping?! love your videos
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 3 года назад
Short answer... whenever I can, but realistically in a non-COVID year, 2or 3 times a month in the summer, less in the shoulder season.

I was thinking about getting one of these because I'm not overly happy with the stability of the current canister system I have. Just like the backpacking one you shiwed that could be stability challenge. I couldn't really tell how far apart the the ends of the grill surface were from each other. I'm guessing with all your camping gear you have something that's like a Toaks 750ml pot/cup? Are the ends of the four grill prongs close enough together that something like that could sit on the them and be stable? I saw a another video on this where the guy demonstrated with a metal camp cup and it just barely balanced on the tips of each of the prongs. But he didn't give any dimensions re the actual size of a cup and it was kind of hard to tell. Edit: I just measured. So are those grill prog tips more than 2.5 in or 6.5 cm away from each other? Because if the tips are no further away from each other than that, that means I'll have a good 2 cm on each one on which my pot/cup can sit.

Hey Neil, sorry I'm not sure how well this stove performs in extreme cold weather. I have only used it during fall, spring, summer.

Better info needed like how long does a canister last?
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe Год назад
A single canister will last me for a long weekend camping trip. Typically only use it at breakfast and dinner.

Looks like the canister sticks out the end. I guess that means that it can't be transported inside the unit in the case?

Just saw this on Amazon and thought I check out some reviews on RU-vid. So do you still like this stove? Is it to small?
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 3 года назад
I’ve had this stove for about 3 months now and have used it on several outings and I still love it! It is a good size, not too big, not too small, starts up every time.

How is it in wind? Does it adapt to propane?
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 2 года назад
Works fine in low wind...I've not used it in high wind situations. No, this model only works with the butane cylinders, but I believe this company also makes a stove with an adapter that will let you use propane as well.
@23Josilee
@23Josilee 2 года назад
It's my understanding that you have to use the Gas One Butane Canisters...other brand canisters will not work ??? Can you verify this?
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 2 года назад
Actually, I’ve never used the Gas One brand canisters. I didn’t even know they sold their own butane. I’ve used multiple brands from different stores and have never had a problem.

Propane burns hotter than butane. The 1lb. Propane lasts longer than the 8oz. butane.
@TheOneCanoe
@TheOneCanoe 2 года назад
I’ve heard the propane burns hotter..Yes, you can actually buy this particular model with an adapter to allow the use of propane tanks, however I purchased the butane-only version as it is more compact and better suited to my needs. I recently purchase a GasOne dual fuel stove rated at 10,000 BTU, I will be reviewing that stove shortly.
