@@Strawbbxmoon It's the rent control law in New York City, the rent goes up around $50 or so every two years. The rent agreement has to be signed every so often. If she lets go of it, the owner of the building will raise the rent by thousands for sure, after upgrading it. However, while blood relatives of the people on the lease are in the apartment, the owners cannot kick them out. Such apartments usually get subletted, meaning that the person whose name on the lease keep paying rent but the person living there pays rent to the person on the lease. Not too many people want to loose gems like that. In Friends, the sitcom, Monica lived in such an apartment, where her grandmother lived before, that's why two broke girls could afford that place. We live in a rent controlled studio apartment in Manhattan and we pay half what they would charge if we moved. It's been under the same name for over 30 years. Sally Field, the actress from the movie Mrs. Doubtfire lives in an apartment like this for over 50 years or so, and even though she has the money to buy, she still chooses to keep her rent controlled apartment. I had watched a YT video about her apartment a long time ago.
@@StrawbbxmoonI don’t know all the specifics, but if you look up “rent control NYC” you can learn about it. Basically if your rental fulfills certain requirements the rent can be the same price the apartment cost decades ago
I love the old tapestry looks too! My house is 130+ years old.. And my dad restored all of the original accents when he renovated in the 90s.. Such as the staircase, door trim, baseboards, doors, hardware, bathtub, and so on.. He wanted to keep as much original as he could,. Since my house is so old, I do like the older home looks that suit the details.. And I am picked on all the time because of my dining room curtains. I found them at goodwill and they’re older JCPenneys heavy tapestry fabric curtains with the swoopy valance and tassels.. They match the houses age, I think.. I’m gonna show my husband this lol
Love the paint color and colors you used throughout your lovely home! ❤🥰😍😊Reminds me of a Monet painting 🖼. Monet used nature's color palette very well in every painting he painted. So easy on the eyes, creating calmness and beauty, making life beautiful! Color makes our homes and lives come alive! 😊 Our homes are not a funeral home and should not look like one, lol. Great job on bringing back such a classic, elegant style that enriches your senses and life!❤❤😊
Wow! I LOVE your style so much! I genuinely don't think I've ever felt so connected to a home design before! I've never known how to bring this style to life, so it's nice seeing someone else bring it to life the same way. Thank you for taking us along on your redesign adventure! You are doing a fantastic job!
So amazing you both ate so fine. Only a few could appreciate such a nice place. Let's hope you can cook a extremely nice dinner. Well as nice as yiu have it. Any one should be happy for just about anything Love this. Dreamy! Cool. 😎😎😎✨️🎶💜
Woah 😘😘😘. This is like an uppity but warm and genuine hug from an auntie with old money but with a mixture of old and new taste. Older places are so it and I do like new homes but a new home could neva. Beautiful 😍
Go to Belgium to get the most beautiful verdure tapestries. They are those green, blue, gold, cream tapestries usually of forests and landscapes. I love them. They go with traditional or modern.
I loved the airy white draperies. The dark tapestry is a beautiful rich touch for pillows but way overboard for draperies. It killed the dreamy fresh look you did so well.
Very Lovely home! Has a touch of 1990's decor with the tapestry. 1990's decor look, but without the extensive use of wallpaper that we all used back then! : )
So beautiful! You have given me so much inspiration for my 1910 home. I love how you keep it so authentic but not museum like. Always excited to see the next project. ❤
This is gorgeous!!!! Great eye for decor!!! I'm so nervous about bold patterns so when you pulled out the curtains my heart stopped for a second and then when they went up I was like, "Heck yes!!!! that's amazing!!!!!! Absolutely stunning. Really really stunning
He encontrado tu canal hace poco y estoy "enganchada" a tu estilo y tu elegancia para decorar y transformar una vivienda antigua ☺️ Siempre espero con ansias el siguiente vídeo. Un saludo desde Islas Canarias, España. 💓
I just binge watched every single short, and let me tell you I have fallen in love with your journey. I am so excited to see what you do next. I never turn on notifications on RU-vid for any creator, but for your channel I'm doing it. I'm on the edge of my seat. 😂❤ Also, new sub.
Girl! It would be sooo worth it to invest in a custom curved curtain rod for that window! Please tell me you're already considering this! Beautiful curtains by the way. Love your style, you have the perfect canvas for it!
Absolutely beautiful ! Its amazing what you've done to the place, the vision! I'm curious, do you rent itbor own it? Would be devastating to put all that work in and not own it
