Karting and Sim Racing are so much different than people really think. I remember getting more serious about karting this summer and joining a club/league only having done indoor rental karting and sim racing for the past 2 years. The main difference, for me atleast, was getting used to finding massive rotation and controlling it under braking. Instead of trying not to lock your tires and trail braking towards the apex, now your taught to slam on the brakes, try and brake the slightest amount of traction, and counter steer towards the apex while slightly holding the brakes and flooring at the end trying to keep momentum. The other thing you learn about is the physicallity and the forces you feel in a kart. Having more than 1 point of feedback really helps you and changes racing completely. Sim racing can simulate real life racing to a tee, but what it can't simulate is the actual feeling of real life racing.
You love to see it. Let's be honest, many sim racers think that they can easily replicate on track what do do on the sim. Gforces and speed in general quickly give a dose of reality. Gives you a whole new respect for those on track. Nice one Tobin.
You drove solidly that day and rightfully deserved to win race 2. I had a terrible day but I thoroughly enjoyed going wheel-to-wheel against you during the shootout. Congrats and hope to see you at round 3 🤙🏻
