It's amazing how we Portuguese speakers can understand 80% of spoken Spanish and even more of written Spanish without ever having studied Spanish, I know that the reciprocal is not true because Portuguese has more sounds than Spanish but in writing it's very close

That's right. When I was at university I had to read some texts in Portuguese and I was surprised to find I could understand almost everything without the need for a dicctionary. But it's still hard to me to understand spoken Portuguese.
@kelsx
@kelsx Год назад
@@hluot-wigadelfuns2027 the problem of knowing spanish but not understanding portuguese is because of the nasal sounds that spanish does not have, in writing speakers of both languages get along well the problem is when a spanish speaker understands a portuguese speaker which for us Portuguese speakers we don't have this problem, because as I said Portuguese has many more sounds than Spanish.
@kelsx
@kelsx Год назад
my case, I understand European Portuguese better than Spanish because I'm familiar with their variant and I watch a lot of European Portuguese content, but there are Brazilians who say they understand Spanish more than Portuguese from Portugal, for me it's just an accent different the Portuguese that is spoken on the border of Brazil is totally different from the Portuguese spoken in the rest of the country and even so it is Portuguese but with another accent I went to the border of Brazil with Uruguay and it took me a while to understand them why Portuguese of them suffered a lot of influence from Spanish, there are people who speak neither Portuguese nor Spanish, but Portunhol and everyone understands each other

The accent of the Peruvian woman is a mixture between Peruvian Coast accent and Andean accent, this accent is spoken in the Andes of Ecuador 🇪🇨, Peru 🇵🇪, Bolivia 🇧🇴 and parts of Colombia 🇨🇴, Chile 🇨🇱 and Argentina 🇦🇷. Remember that Andean accent has a lot words from Quechua and Aimara, the languages of the Inca Empire. Important cities of that accent: Quito, Arequipa, Cusco and La Paz.
