Today I'm going to get this transmission unstuck and working on this old 41" Extra Duty Snapper Model 4111X5S

Awesome! I remember watching my Dad work on an old Snapper Comet 41 in the early 80's, it had 3 cutting blades. The rear end went out and he came up with a rebuild kit from a local hardware store. Best I can remember it was a bunch of small gears some plastic bushings, axle boots and the like. He got it apart in about an hour and when he took the transmission side cover off a bunch of parts literally fell out of it. I remember him yelling: "You gotta be kidding me!" and throwing it to the ground with brute force. That evening we went to a guys house and purchased another used Snapper with a blown engine, brought it home and switched the engines out. LOL! Thanks for this video, it brought back a great memory. If only Dad would've had RU-vid back then...🤣🤣🤣

Good job, on the work & the video. This is the first video I have watched, of someone repairing a snapper. There seems to be plenty to learn on the shaft with the two cover's. I think its a differential . I don't own one just interested to see what I, would of been in for. if I had bought this used on I seen a while back. As I tend to always buy something that's cheap and in need of work. As far as the length of the video, I think the length depends on the job. and how many times you turn the camera on. what trouble you run into. Like the guy, making the brass bushing repair, if he would of captured that, that would of added. there always a story to add to explain something, like you did with the parts tree bushing & the tolerance's. keep up the good work & having fun doing videos.

Thanks for the comment, basically the center box that takes the power of the engine and spins the outer axle that is shaped like a hex, that goes to the differential that is on the side of the mower, there is a axle that runs through the hex shaft that goes to both wheels. Its a weird set up compared the the Hydro drives but its straight forward once you understand the basics of it and reliable. There is a guy on here that is name Jim Jackson, he has great videos showing how these works

@@zombiesgarage5144 thanks I'll check Jim's site our latter when I get time, I'll eventually end up with one so I can first hand play with/ work on one. There's is a sometimes one, like now ,150 bucks I guy went thru it already , but that's no fun all the work done already. I want the $10 to 25 dollar buy
