It was awesome to hear your thoughts on my Russian, thank you! Melovich was supposed to be my second channel, in which I was planning to translate and post videos with English subs, but I ended up having to discontinue the project and focus only on the Portuguese one. The videos you took from Melovich are very outdated. Those videos are from when I just started talking to people on OmeTV. I had almost no experience making videos and talking to people in Russian LOL. At that time I barely practiced my speaking skills, since I didn't have any opportunity or necessity to speak and preferred to just spend time reading and listening to Russian. Updated videos are only on this channel, "Vem a mim língua russa". I said all of this just to let people know, but I really liked your video and your reaction. Nice job! I wish you success with your channel!
Being a Russian, I can assure you guys that this tiago guy has INCREDIBLE RUSSIAN skills. I mean, Portugese and Russian are not that simillar and so it was probably as hard to learn Russian for him as to everybody else. I guess he worked really hard to achieve that
Yeah, that's because he speaks the Brazilian portuguese. "Brazilian" tends to sound more like "spanish" but if you listen carefully to the European portuguese (the one that is spoken in Portugal) you'll notice that it sounds like a Slavic language, so when someone says that "portuguese sounds a little bit like Russian", is because this person is probably talking about the Europeanportuguese. But other than that his accent is indeed very good 🙂
Sounds like it’s a B2 - C1 level for speaking maybe, it’s a good level, but the level of understanding spoken Russian seems higher, so it could be C1 - C2 even, because I know it’s always harder to understand the spoken language than it is to understand the written language, so one needs to revise a lot and learn a lot to be able to understand the spoken language well, or maybe languages like Russian are just naturally easier to understand, I don’t know, but the grammatical level of most learners in general in around B2 or B1 even if they’ve studied the language for many years, so even though I don’t know Russian, I am pretty sure the grammar isn’t on a level higher than B2, but I don’t know about the vocab, so I always wonder if any of the learners learn more than 10.000 base words or only five or six thousand words that are the most used in conversations! But did I hear that right, do ppl from Russia say ya ruska which means i russian instead of i am russian, so there is no verb, like, the verb to be isn’t used when saying if one is russian or when saying one’s name! I sort of picked up some Russian words and phrases just by watching random entertainment videos that had some Russian in them, so I know that ya is the word for i, and I know the Cyrillic alphabet, even though I cannot process the letters fast, as it’s not easy to read / process from Cyrillic etc into Latin, and it’s always going to be hard for someone whose first alphabet is the easiest alphabet aka the Latin alphabet to process fast the letters from any other alphabet, so it takes many seconds for me to read and to fully process one word written in the Cyrillic alphabet!
Admiro! É um autodidata!
That dude is really good. I'm also from Brazil, I used to watch his videos in Portuguese explaining his approach to language learning. He's gotta very effective method based on immersion learning they also call it input based approach, according to the videos he did in Portuguese explaining how he had learnt Russian, I don't think that he's into that polyglot thing, he's very focused on Russian and his English is OK, he really likes the Russian language, I think that he deserves a C1 or C2.
As a Brazilian as well I'm glad to see a Brazilian representative in the overall language community. To be honest, I had some beef with Melovich in the past due to him uploading videos of Russian interviews without giving what they were due (their credits). Nevertheless, I'm flabbergasted to say the least to see a Brazilian speaking a second language so well as he does. You know, virtually no one speaks English let alone other languages in our country.
As a Brazilian I have to give kudos to him for his dedication to the Russian language, it's really hard for Brazilians to acquire a second language let alone learning Russian (most of Brazilians barely speak English).
It's cool to know that Tiago is a Brazilian who is not rich, he didn't have money from his parents to enjoy life traveling abroad like the most of young brazilian do! The most of people from here don't study a second language or have not the necessary determination to become fluent in any language. It's very difficult someone to speak a good english or spanish. He is absolutely exceptional in all ways! Bye the way, he has been shown his hight level education and how he's a super generous having being mistreated by racists! Thank you, Tiago! You destroyed all the bad ones with your smile. Glad to see you're so brave!! Go Ahead 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nice to know that Thiago's effort is getting visibility. He is a very nice example of how dedication and discipline are important to achieve one's goals. I don't speak Russian (I am Brazilian like Thiago) but I don't think his level is only B2 due to his fluency. I am B2 in Italian (certified) and I don't have his fluency. He must be at least C1. Congratulations Thiago 😊😊😊
Glad you did a video on him!! I'm hoping to be upper A2 by January which will be one year learning Russian and plan on taking TORFL late 2024 for B1!!
So glad you covered this guy. I have watched him for a while and although I don't know any Russian, I knew he was thorough in his knowledge of the language. Keep them coming!
The problem is that everyone who doesn't speak Mandarin doesn't know that, they hear words they don't understand and just instantly assume you speak the language. btw
The first when I watched your video I want you make video about melovic russian (vem de lingua russa) and now you was make . Thanks and love from vietnam
I kinda wanted to improve my English to no accent level in the past. Till I met a Russian friend, his accent on English and Portuguese sounded so cool, that now I like having an accent too 😂
This is the best example of a foreigner speaking Russian I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t have guessed he is not Russian if I was talking with him over the phone.
Hearing this person speak is really nice! I'd consider studying Russian if I didn't have my hands full studying a completely different language. It's incredibly inspiring!
🇧🇷🏳️🇷🇺📚👏 Super cool, I'm Brazilian and Thiago helped me learn more about Russia besides Vodka, Sputnik and Putin. Congratulations on your analysis work!
I speak russian and you have a weird accent and you are trying to hide your misspelling of the words by speeding but it’s not working but the brazilian guy speaks very clearly and he has a solid base in russian
Any comments not praising Thiago’s skill is non sense. The guy decided to approach a completely different language by himself, and he’s doing great. For those not realizing the differences, you can start thinking of learning a language without prepositions, in which words are connected through declinations. It changes completely how you should create the sentences. Questions, statements and so on. Not to mention the alphabet. I speak Serbian (another Slavic language), and as Brazilian, I have to be constantly studying. Keep going Thiago.❤
He has extremely high level of Russian. He can definitely go there and will have no problem communicating with anyone. His pronunciation is very very good, almost native level. I'm a native speaker but grew up overseas. I have a much heavier accent than he does and his vocabulary is much better than my. Very impressive 👏. He definitely spent a ton of time learning and practicing
We have some Russian youtubers in Brazil who speak portuguese. And they learn very vast and their portuguese sounds very good. I think the phonetics are very similar.
Yes that russian in the intro did sound like russian, but with an accent. It is like those AI generated people. But you can always tell if something is off or fake.
Im learning russian, it's an amazing language. TBH I still fell some difficult to write, but I will become better! It's a hard language, but some sounds are pretty like portuguese.
