A new study is out and it says that money can buy happiness. According to the study, satisfaction levels and happiness increase with wealth. This rejects previous research findings that say that happiness plateaus after a certain wealth cap. So, can money really buy happiness? Palki Sharma tells you.

If you live in Nigeria where every citizen is his or her own government as it were, you will find out that money can buy you a lot of happiness. I can attest to that as someone who has tasted poverty and also handled some money. Indeed, I found out that money can make certain problems disappear. Anyone who says money cannot buy happiness has obviously not been without it for very long. But the truth is that when you have been in money for a long time, the happiness levels kind of plateau and you do not get vastly happier. Your circle of friends reduce, you become more paranoid as the level of envy and jealousy around you starts to increase. Also, if you are in a society where there is a large number of poor people, you start to stand out like a sore thumb and you have to start building a wall around yourself, your family and your wealth. Then it starts to feel like you are in a prison.

the issue is most people believe money is happiness and chase for it throughout their lifetime, hence study reflects what people believe not the actual truth. A learned man with whole lot of experiences will never correlate the two.

When you have health and money it can make you happy , with money you can never be depressed, stress, anxiety money is powerful once you have good health you can enjoy your lives. It really depends on what makes you happy. What makes me happy is to have a decent place to live, a healthy food to eat, travel and explore the world, and everything that makes me feel safe and joyful. In order for me to attain those is to have a good solid stable income. So money is involve. The more money the higher the possibilities of attaining those.

Money can be one source of happiness but not the only one. I think health and being surrounded by loved ones are equally important sources. Remove one from the equation and happiness can be greatly affected. Can't just bet on money alone, it's not fair on money 😊

Money like everything has diminishing returns. But until you reach that stage of comfort money does definitely buy you happiness, peace of mind and stability. Without food, nice shelter and clothing which only money can buy in most cases there is no happiness.

Money buys stress and the burden of looking after all the stuff one acquires. I think I was happier when my husband and I lived on rent and didn't have a car. No stress about house repairs/improvements, council taxes, buying insurance, or the cost of petrol. Now that we have the means, our discussions (sometimes arguments) revolve around deciding/selecting what to buy instead of more interesting things in life. We can afford air travel so we waste our time at airports. I'm still happy but I can't claim that I am happier.

If we are happy only with things money can buy, one day when we are detached from it, our happiness goes down. Money can liberate the mind to do what it likes and not caught in worrying about paying monthly bills and making ends meet for the family and yourself, including childrens' education, health and their future.
