Can my five year old son beat the infamous time set by (game/tech journalist) Dean Takahashi at the Cuphead tutorial?
Find out in this side by side comparison.
This was 100% the first time my Son played Cuphead in fact it's the first time he has played any platformer in his life.
He only just leveled up to 5 a couple of weeks before this recording & had been playing video games for about 6 months (mainly racers & Lego video games). His true passions at the time consisted of playing with dirt/mud, his toys & observing bugs rather then playing video games.
Dean however has been writing for 23 years about video games & I assume playing them for much longer.
(Please LIKE 👍🏻 & share the video as it really helps promote the video & the channel, sub if you want to).
I have no Issue with Dean. You don’t have to be great at games to enjoy them. It turns out you don’t even have to be great at them to write good articles on them either! Maybe that in itself reflects on the awesomeness of video games....

Now, I had beaten the game already, so I'm no slouch, but I was just... flabbergasted. They couldn't get past the first level of Contra. Guess Cuphead had an amazing, amazing tutorial. If I ever make a game, the lowest difficulty will be called "Game Journalist" (edit): Well I'm noticing a lot of game developers in the replies. It's truly an honor, and good luck with whatever you may be working on.

Dean absolutely cheesed his way through the Parry Blast. Your kid showed the reading skills and the comprehension to problem solve his way through the level. Bravo 👏

Completing the jump on the first try isn't anything notable- Anyone of mostly any age can do it. All you have to is actually read the controls and do it patiently. Neither which Dean did. Or which arguably most modern gamers do.

The parrying part was too hard for him, it requires a lot of precise inputs in very little time, yet he managed to do it nearly as fast as Dean.
