DavidJenk253 looks like they’re 319 on Amazon for a double cab today. How have yours held up? Any chipping or rust? I’m in a snowy climate where a lot of road salt is used. I’m also not a fan of the stars.

First off to everyone these are NOT rock sliders they are nothing more than step bars, rock sliders will attach directly to the frame. These mount to the rocker panel like any other step bars. With that said these things are tough and will prob cause body damage before they fail. Case and point I caught one on a huge rock while making a hard turn. It was hard enough to throw the truck sideways ripping the steering wheel from my had so violently that I broke my thumb and tore a ligament which also took a chunk of bone resulting in surgery and 10 weeks in a cast. It bent the outside top tube bent all 3 mounting brackets and pushed the whole thing back 3 inches but there was no body damage but with a hard enough hit I could see it ripping the whole thing right of the rocker.

Does anyone know how these hold up in the winter and if there are any problems with ice buildup?

I had no problem with them. They saw a lot of snow and held up really well. I honestly don’t remember there being a lot of buildup

I installed these on my fj cruiser but mine actually bolt on to the frame and not the body, so far no regrets.

I was considering these for our ranger for the same reasons. Did you ever end up testing these off road?

Yes, unintentionally lol! They honestly held up really well and the finish is super durable. But they are body mounted and not frame mounted, so they are not at all designed to be used for armor. It could really mess your truck up if you put the weight of the truck then

@@OFFTHEGRIND yeah so I’ve heard. N-fab makes some body mounted ones as well. They call them sliders.

Do they attach to the frame or body? If it's the body that's kinda iffy

Umbrace Titan they attach to the body where the factory intended for step to be placed. Again, not at all saying these will replace rock sliders, but they off protection from branches snapping up on them

Umbrace Titan last time I went off roading the trail got unexpectedly tight and I ended up falling on a big rock. I landed directly on the step bars and there was absolutely no damage at all and did not dent or warp the body. I do feel like I got lucky, but they and the mounting points are stronger then you think. I absolutely understand the concern though

Yes I have. I posted a video called groups run in tahuya or something. I wouldn’t suggest these as sliders obviously, but they provided a whole lot more protection than I expected

Honestly, a little. But once you get used to it it’s actually really nice. It saves your seat from wear that’s for sure

DavidJenk253 i was pretty worried on getting them cause they look great but if theyre awkward to get in and out it makes me not want to buy. Im gonna risk it and buy them im sure id get used to them. I have the same truck as yours except 2020

Thanos I think you’ll like them. I love them now especially with a lift. With them, you don’t kinda roll over the side of the seat like I was saying. And I wouldn’t at all recommend them as a rock slider, but they have saved me a few times off road.

I’m still liking them. I use the step all the time and so do my dogs. They’ve saved me a couple times off-road too even though they’re not built for that
