I lost weight at a work event last week. I think the biggest factors were that 1) I didn't have time to overeat, and 2) I was in a hotel room with no snacks.
When it comes to tofu dishes, onions and bell peppers are a must. I like tofu scrambles, but most times I cook my tofu up like a taco filling and put it in a burrito. I could eat those tofu burritos every day of the week.
I just found your channel recently and I am truly impressed with your content. Thank you for the time that you take to educate us on why you recommend certain foods, supplements, etc. Blessings to you and thank you again for being such a wonderful teacher!
I suppose weight loss is a huge motivation to a lot of us. I think our perceptions are more critical than we realize and that weight loss should be seen as the byproduct of eating a healthy diet, not as the main objective. I imagine some people don't have the capacity to formulate healthy gut biome, but most of us are. Combined with moderate movement, a simple carb free, high plant fiber diet will eventually result in your normal weight. No more sugar!!
The use of oral estrogen (like Premarin) is a decades old practice that’s not consistent with current HRT recommendations. Dr Mary Claire Haver (and her book The New Menopause) and the North American Menopause society are good resources for updated medical information regarding menopause and HRT
Thank you for all the information about food and health! I'm confused; you mentioned not having berries in smoothies and not blending blueberries, but your smoothie has blueberries. Also, do you have a recommendation for cacao powder? I saw a study that showed a bunch of brands had very high levels of lead and cadmium.
That tofu chocolate pudding looks healthier than the one that I make. I add avocado which makes it creamier. but since my liver is not healthy, it's probably too much fat. I also switched over to carob powder because of the caffeine in chocolate.
This show is packed with information. Who would have thought estrogen supplement is extracted from the urine of a pregnant mare. They should should replace Premarin with some plant extract. Maybe that would be too expensive. Thank you.
You are blending kale with the berries. When you say, the fiber is destroyed, does this apply to both soluble and insoluble? If the fiber structure is destroyed, is it not available for the gut biome?
Your gut microbiomes still get fiber. But it is broken up so that it’s lost a lot of function. Like a bag to hold your groceries. You still have pieces of the bag but it can’t hold groceries any more.
Love all your info!!! However, I was recently advised to eat only small amounts of soy for under active thyroid. (By a thyroid specialist in Seattle). Your thoughts?? Tk u! 😊
Really enjoyed your video. I am looking for new healthy options to introduce into my diet and really like your explanation of how beneficial tofu is in so many ways. On April 1st of this year I decided to drastically change my eating habits along with going to the gym at least 3x a week for 2 hours at a time. I was so addicted to sugar and at 61 I knew I couldn't continue this way of eating if I wanted to live to 75 or longer. I eliminated all processed sugar, processed foods, fast foods, breads, red meat and diet soda's and started only eating fresh organic vegetables, Salmon, Sardines, some baked chicken, hot green tea with nothing added, eggs, avocado, raw walnuts and almonds and some misc. berries to satisfy my sweet tooth. No more deserts, candy or junk food. I now scan all my food items I buy with an app that lets me know if the product has any harmful additives. It is truly amazing how many items in a grocery store are harmful. My blood pressure is now normal and I feel great. All my cravings have gone away and I find that I am not hungry anymore. I am starting to notice one meal a day is all I seem to need. I sometimes feel I should eat even though I do not want to. Anyway I look forward to trying tofu and research various ways to cook it. Thank you for the informational video.
Hi. What are your thoughts on quick cooking steel cut oats? I know oat groats are the best, but is there a big difference between quick cooking steel cut oats and regular steel cut oats in terms of blood sugar responses? I have tried both and it only takes 4 minutes of cooking for either in the instant pot.
I have ulcerative colitis and type 2 diabetes. Eating a lot of fiber is good for my diabetes but causes colitis flare-ups all the time. Any suggestions for sticking to a healthy diet when colitis wants to flare?
I would love your recipes if you have them for your tofu desserts.. and thank you so much for your time and knowledge and experience and sharing this with us.. I've always heard that soy has a bad rap and I've really never even tried tofu .. I think I'd like to give it a try
What do you recommend as an alternative to soy for those of us who have thyroid issues? I'm vegan and love tofu's versatility but I get severe side effects when I ingest it everyday (even if it's a little bit of soy milk in my tea).
Some studies suggest that high intake of soy can increase risk of hypothyroidism. Some studies suggest no problems. It seems that most experts suggest moderate intake of soy is not a problem.
Yes. All food does and supplements with minerals like iron and calcium. It is recommended that Thyroid hormones be taken on an empty stomach. www.synthroid.com/starting/taking-synthroid-the-right-way
@@Healthyimmunedoc Thanks so much! I've been following you for about three months. You have changed my life where no other diet in my 79 years has before. Thank you deeply.
I love your informational videos, I’m learning a lot. I love tofu but it doesn’t agree with me. I think it might be thyroid related? It causes mood changes in me. I’m plant based and will be looking into making my own tofu using chickpeas.
brown rice. fruit is my candy 🙂 mmmm, stir-fry! 🥰 you are making me hungry! there is a very big difference between bovine dairy and sheep and goat dairy. oh, i admit, it sucks to get old. if you are eating whole foods, you get plenty of sodium, no need to add. SPICE! just harvested the scapes off my hard necks, makes excellent stir-fry. fake food for fake people. another outstanding vid 🙂
Medical Doctors are trained to save lives. Over 140 million people visit the emergency department annually. Over 5.7 million get admitted to ICU. Who is supposed to take care of them if you don’t have well-trained medical doctors?
@@Healthyimmunedoc Maybe akeleven is trying to say that we should be proactive and treat out bodies in a proactive way, as opposed to seeing them as enemies. If that is the case, I would agree with her.
@@Healthyimmunedoc but is it the best way to produce the best doctors. If they want to train you to be effective of under stress, they should be training you how to eat well to stay effective under stress. Right now this looks like sink or swim. They throw you in the stress and if you survive then maybe you're a good doctor or maybe you're just addicted to stress.
I learned to eat the healthy ingredients without the salty sauce and learned to cook with the spices and flavors. Asian cuisine tastes good because of the variety of exotic Whole Foods.
I've followed these guidelines for years and never lost weight. When I eliminated many of these foods and went partially carnivore, all issues disappeared. My inflammation disappeared, blood pressure went to normal, got off thyroid medication and lost weight. The latest research is showing this works for many people.
Responsible farmers who feed soybeans to animals actually have to be aware that they are low in methionine, an essential amino acid. Yes, it is present, but not enough of it, so soy is a "complete protein" compared to other typical vegetable protein sources but not well-balanced.
If I'm understanding you correctly, are you saying that blending or liquefying fibrous foods make it less fiber? Or, is that the same as being "easier to digest"? Because that's what makes sense to me. I suffer from gastroparesis, and have asked my doctors and searched the internet to find out if fiber foods such as kale become less fiber after blending. Everything that I've read and my doctors have told me that fiber is fiber. That blending it or liquefying it is not going to make a difference.
I think she might mean that blending alters the integrity of fibre, does not make it less or reduce the amount. One example she used for the same question is a shopping bag, you can hold the contents in an intact shopping bag but not one that has been all chopped up.
I love the content but the videos are tooo long and i get tired and bored after 7 min. It would be great if it is shorter and straight to the point. Thank you!
Give the list please at big innings then talk as long as you like. Too much lateral teaching make us confused lose focus. Too much information available.
