I had the chance to test my friends Canon EOS 5 this week. It's the first Canon film camera I have shot, and it's also an electronic camera. Could it change my mind about electronic film cameras?

My EOS 5 looks banged and thorn like it has been thru several war conflicts. What it WAS. But despite being a pile of plastic and electronics, it still works... P.S. Li-Ion batteries that this camera is using are less sensitive to the cold than normal AA cells. And by the way, autofocus capabilities between cameras from mid 80's and those from early 90's are miles apart.

I got one of these plastic fantastic wonders a couple of years ago for £65.00. Its plastic but highly capable and I can use my L lenses with it and even the IBIS works.

It's a very complete camera. Maybe just weather might be a bit harsh on it.

Thanks! I had the EOS 3 back in the day, actually two. Good cameras, but didn't shoot that much on them, because digital was just around the corner.

Wait until you use it with the 70-200 2.8! Then you’ll see!

I had the EOS5, but the rubber on it get very sticky. So I sold it, kept only the AE1 and the F1 for analog.

The sticky rubber seems to be quite common, not only for Canons, I had a Nikon F100 with the same problem years ago.
