Canon 5D mk iii digital camera vs Canon EOS 5 film camera just for fun

In this video we pit the Canon EOS 5 35mm film camera against the Canon EOS 5D Mark lll full frame digital camera and this is just for fun, lets see how the two camera compare in regard to metering, white balance (set by the film in the case of the EOS 5) and image quality.
The raws from the 5D were exported as jpegs from lightroom with no editing and the film was processed in Cinestill C41 and scanned on a Epson V700 by myself then imprted into lightroom and exported as jpegs with no editing.

A very interesting comparison and I think the film wins hands down -- yes organic and those negatives win it for me.. I was planning on switching back to doing to Film and I still have my old EOS 650 .. as well at 7D MKII and the wonderful XT-1 / greetings from Ireland .. Paul

It was generally accepted that each film format had a maximum size and optimal viewing distance, before structural artefacts detracted from the image. For 35mm this was about 15", give or take, though images could be enlarged much bigger for different contexts, like say, a printed museum backdrop or billboard. With digital photography the temptation is to blow up a shot indefinitely on screen, until even the sharpest lenses show their technical flaws. The question is how often does a photographer print at such screen sizes, if at all?

Best of luck with your health challange - and of course film males you think more and the process from taking the shot to making the image is very organic - chemical camera still to it for me - bit like Hifi - im still living in a world of Vinyl and tape .. ANALOGUE wins - keep positive David ..
