It's the sound files, I'm guessing they don't want to compress it, that's why the sound in the game is so good. Believe it or not high fidelity sounds take up tons of space. A 3 min flac lossless music takes up around 20-100 mb it's insane.

First can i just say you've just helped me a hell of a lot- you dont understand how much. I've been trying to figure out now before black firday weather i should get a sx or upgrade my rx570 pc. Just over a year ago my pc was basically a console killer for the og xbox one and ps4 and almost on par with the xbox one x which i also own. But i know for certain im just gonna wait for the future and lean in onto my love for pc gaming that i thought was about to die due to the amazing value of the series x right now. This is a great video of showing how the Xbox Series S is going to be very disruptive. I am a PC guy now, but you also have to consider that MS and Sony get their parts at cost or even lower than the consumer prices we all pay for PC parts.

12:40 I disagree. Even today a $300 PC doesn't beat the launch day PS4 or Xbox One. That optimization that consoles have is something that will basically always be hard for PC to beat. PC gaming isn't a really good option unless you're willing to shell out $700 or $800+ at the very least.

Very wrong; you sound like another misinformed console fanboy, I use older cheap hardware and have no problem playing any game I want, also pc's are definitely worth it when compared to how much money you have to waste buying all your games for MSRP on Consoles for games that are even years old, whereas pc has Tons of sales and even sites like G2A that allow you to buy games for a lot cheaper as well, you can even pirate games if you want to lol, overall you're just given much more options and not in a monopoly market like on console.

The Xbox has so much custom firmware on it that you'd have to do a lot of coding by hand. It's just so much more trouble than it's worth. On the upside though, the tight security makes it very difficult to cheat in games. If you've ever played on PC coming from console, you'll probably be surprised at the sheer amount of bots and hackers in some games, all of which are practically nonexistent on console.

Great video Oz! I just wanna say, I understand why you disregarded the cost of online play etc to focus on raw compute performance, but I really feel like that's a MAJOR component in the pricing strategy. If you think about it, if the Series S sells for 300$, and Microsoft charges an additional 10$ per month for online play, that's actually a price of $420, not 300. And that's just one year! Not to mention that they would also take a cut of all game sales, unlike PC, where Steam or Epic might take that cut. It would be interesting to see what 400-500$ would cost you, just as a comparison! Also, I think the Series S is such an interesting proposition because honestly 80% of people worldwide are still using 1080p 60Hz TVs. You can buy the S now, and then maybe in a year or two, sell it off for $150-200, and use that to buy a Series X!

I am a hardcore PC user/gamer ,but with the monthly price of just 24$ with hundreds of games in gamepass for 24 months along with the hardware(8 core cpu,10gig ram,4tf gpu) is one of the best deals anyone will come across imo. But if you are into emulators and use windows programs PC might the one to look out for. Nevertheless consumer is the real winner

Realistically speaking, the time to outmuscle a Console for the same price has come and gone. PS3/XBox360 - yeah you could make a comparable system to perform similar or potentially outperform for the $300-400 that console costed. PS4/XB1 - yeah, again you could match the performance or potentially exceed it for the same price of $300-$400 It’s when we it get to the PS4 Pro & Xbox One X where it gets very hard. As their price doesn’t jump up much but their performance does. Then we get to the PS5/XBSX - where the price points of $300-500 and the performance is just impossible to match price for price. Not to mention all these consoles come with a quality $60 controller. Which is often overlooked. It’s hard enough to build a $300 PC to a $300 Console. It’s even harder to exclude the controller from the equation and build a PC for $240

The great thing about the new consoles is that it has driven down prices for higher end builders. Had these not come out Nvidia would have been selling the 3080 for $900 and it’s a lot less. I’ll be interested to see the other cards released. 3070 is launching soon cheaper again with more power than the console so seeing a 3050 and 3060 could be interesting.....,,,

Budget just means a set amount that YOU decide on beforehand, and if you spend $5 more, then you're over budget, that's all. they do sales on amazon for xbox games, i got pubg for like $7, borderlands for $13 and titan fall 2 for $4. even if you cant get games at those prices, you can always buy them used which is way cheaper as well and sell them back anytime you want :)

@@RJ-gk3hc I wasn't criticizing consoles. But what you're talking about doesn't even begin to compare to the magnitude of Steam sales. The platform is cheaper than pc's for this generation of consoles, but the pricing for games combined with the sheer volume...no amount of sales for consoles will ever compete with Steam sales, the nature of the walled garden of consoles discourages it. That's still not a slight on consoles. From my view consoles are for people who like to sit and relax in a living room while playing games. PC games are more for the person who wants to sit at a desk with fewer distractions. And tinkering with games. Consoles games just work. People like me don't like that as I like to tinker inside the games on occasion :) Neither platform is "better" than the other. You just get what makes you the most comfortable and happy. It ain't a competition. Still...Steam sales...

I love watching your content Ozzy, you definitely make my day brighter. However, you forgot a critical component, the 'S' controller. That controller is approximately a $60 value and so the budget gaming PC is put in an even worse position. Right up until you want to do something like Blender or Video Editing or anything other than playing games. Also and I know that this is another reason for the world to hate us but the Game Pass Ultimate deal is impossible to pass up. If you buy the 'S' through this deal then Microsoft gives you a $60 discount on the consol itself. This deal is the greatest in gaming. $15 a month for 150 games plus $10 a month for 24 months for the 'S' itself. $25 a month for instant gaming. No money down, no interest paid and new games every month and after 24 months you own the 'S' for $240.

I bought the xbox one x assuming i could play SOME games at 60fps. Of the 200 games i own the only game that consistently stayed at 60 was witcher 3. Consoles are a complete scam

Major reason for this is the AMD Jaguar cores were dogshit, even at launch in 2013. So even when the pro consoles came with beefed up GPU components (and in the case of the One X, 4GB extra memory), they were still held back by the awful Jaguar cores. This generation, the consoles are SIGNIFICANTLY more capable than last, both being high end gaming rigs that are more than capable of 60FPS and even 120FPS games. Games like CoD: Cold War, Dirt 5, Gears 5, Rainbow Six Siege and others are already confirmed to have 120 FPS modes (albeit at more than likely lower resolutions like 1080p/1440p).

Great vid. Though in fairness, the S is 'up to' 1440p and 120fps. Would be more than happy with single player 1440p 60fps. 1080p 120 in multi player.

Exactly. A £1000 PC will save you a fortune in the long run with free games on epic and ridiculously cheap deals on steam. At £70 a game on the next gen consoles, it only takes buying the console then 7 or 8 games to have already spent more than the cost of a very decent PC.

Not trying to be rude but xbox has xbox game pass. Which is a pretty sick deal. For 20 buck( the price of where i live in) You can play all the games available in it. For someone who is not free most of time, i can just pay it for 1 month then stop paying if i want to. Tho PC also have game pass. Xbox console has more games in its own game pass. But thats my own opinion.

Good video. But you also forgot about the accessories. With the 300$ Series S you get a controller which is usually around 50$. For the pc you would need a mouse & keyboard as well which makes the Series S even more valuable for a low budget.

Also I think he missed the cost of the Windows licence on the PC. Otherwise you would have to install Linux but then gaming on it wouldn't exactly be plug and play anymore like the Xbox is.
