This man deserves a award for up-cycling/recycling electronic components and such, I thought I was the only one (or one of the few who still did) who didn't have the money to be able to purchase a decent computer, and through recycling/upcycling/trading/etc. I built several machines, sold them, built my own IT business, learned a ton of hardware/software stuff and eventually obtained enough resources to build my liquid cooled rig :) Keep it up everyone, much love!

Hey, I got one of those RX 560s from XFX, too! I paid... Uh... $140 for it. Hey, I was desperate and it was in the middle of the mining craze. It's still the best video card I've ever bought. ... Uh... That works. Yeah. I do have an RX 480 8GB model that the RGB lights up on. Nothing else worked at all. I might fool with it much later. Until then, I have a cool looking Sapphire Pulse that does nothing else that I paid $75 for. I was able to build a nice system at the end of last year, though. All new parts. It's running an Athlon 200GE, 16 GB 3200MHz RAM, 1 TB NVME SSD, (It's an Intel 660 I was able to get for $80. I didn't need it, but I WANTED it!) It's in a fairly small form factor case, though I think my mITX motherboard is wasted in it. I want to put in a micro ATX later, and use the mITX for a true small form factor build using my 1600AF with a decent video card, once I can afford it. It will use that RX 560 until I decide what I want to pair with it. You know, once I get it built. It WILL have a 2TB NVME drive, though. For the video card, at this moment, I'm thinking it'll end up being a GTX 1660 Super or an RX 580/590; Maybe a 5600XT. Maybe.

:( I got a huge smile on my face when I saw your joy once the computer booted with the 1030. I recently had a build similar to that where I was sticking to a VERY tight budget and had problem after problem. Unlike you, I gave up and ended buying a new Ryzen, MB, and RAM. I enjoy videos like this. I love doing video work for others, but am too much of an introvert to try making my own videos. Keep up the good work.

:( I feel like we’ve all been through a build like this before. My latest was an 1150 motherboard trying to get an i5 4690 to work that I got for an absolute steal. After getting different processors and trying different memory and verifying my components on another motherboard I found that the ez flash bios update that you can do inside of the bios didn’t work as advertised and needed to be done inside of windows. Upon performing this process I was then able to upgrade to the new processor and now I have myself a fairly powerful and efficient machine to use to learn some of the programming I hope to wrap around automating a network.

You also could have tried to find a modified bios to flash it to allow you to use an AMD GPU (does away with the GPU whitelist) and do away with a lot of limitations in the BIOS. I had to flash the bios in my laptop to remove the whitelist so that I could use an external GPU on my laptop, Because the whitelist only allowed WiFi cards to be used on that socket.

@@BIGAPEGANGLEADER I would not say it will get smoked. It performs about the same as a modern I3 but the fact he got the I7 so cheap. Still many I3's still is shipped with 2 cores and 4 treads, while the I7 870 has 4 cores and 8 treads and can handle overclocking.

@@ikramshahar44 no i3 has shipped with under 8 threads since the i3 10100k released in early 2020 , well over a year and a half ago. The 10100k can be found for absurdly cheaply in the UK, US and Europe. The i3 10100k has 8 threads, turbos to 4.3ghz and has massive, massive IPC improvements over the i7 870. Yes, it smokes the i7. It has approx double the single threaded performance and nearly triple the multi thread according to passmark, which is a good general benchmark. In some applications, I imagine the i3 pulls even further ahead.

:( Back when one of our team had to come up with an emergency rig he ended up on a family members old HP Pavilion prebuilt that seemed promising (i5 2310, 8gb RAM) nothing wanted to cooperate, the AMD Radeon 6770 in it was fried, the psu blew shortly after ripping that out which led to buying a replacement, the replacement wasn't what was ordered (an unrated Coolmax with super amazing blue led fans labelled as Coolermaster,) it wouldn't work with a 750ti and would just cause the fans to start spinning like it wanted liftoff, the front panel usbs decided to take a vacation at some point which is still a mystery, it wouldn't work with any other RAM than what was already installed, and overall it became the build from hell, even the parts now occupying that case have since suffered a string of bad luck in terms of sudden failures, its like that things cursed or something. When things keep going wrong on a machine and you're used to seeing people just knock it out through internet magic or being awesome/lucky/both it can add to the frustration a lot, its pretty cool to see people like you embracing the side of pc building where it can really suck sometimes and everything can go wrong for sometimes the most ridiculous of reasons, because in a way its like saying its okay for stuff to hit the fan sometimes because it happens at any skill level. It can really help motivate someone who's having a hard time with their rig to keep trying to find a solution.

@salaciouscreations4323

You can get an adaptor to use a ATX supply. You need to add a plate where the old supply and pop the sence pins of a fan into the slim connector. And the power for the fan over to the CPU cooler with a splitter. I made a mount with a steel ruler to hold the PSU and cut a slot for a pcie x16 riser. So it's got a Rx 580 8gb as well. Works fine as a editing pc. The z series has sata 3 and pcie 3. So it was a bargain. 3770 4c/8t 32gb ram added a olmaster 4 bay drive cage for 4 SSD intel pro duel slot nic. Thing is a little beast and didn't spend that much on it. The intel NIC is grouped so it pulls from the Nas and the onboard NIC is for a net connection. SSD scratch disk SSD render drive SSD network drive and SSD system drive. And it has hardware raid options from the bios set up
