Can we beat Sonic Adventure 2 if we ONLY use Sonic and nobody else? This was a really fun one, except for the Eternal Engine jump which took 5 actual hours to pull off.
If shadow had any other ability that would make the run different I would totally do another run with him, but as he is now it would literally just be this exact same video, minus whichever levels required a super bounce. At least we're getting a new shadow game though so ill def be including him in some future videos!

I gotta say, your persistence is hella impressive. Watching you do Eternal Engine for hours, trying to super-bounce in Dry Lagoon, it was all just cracked levels of perseverance. Amazing job.
The magic hands were clearly gonna be a bigger mechanic at some point and the developers spent way too much time coding them to cut it. There's literally no use for them or anything u need them to obtain but they're just sort of there as a bonus.
They come in handy for 100% completing the game, but you're right they're not actually required. I think it would have been cool to see them used more, but I also think its neat having secret features like this that half the people dont even know about. Its like one of those playground rumors: "Did you know theres a secret power up that lets sonic turn enemies into balls? You have to find a secret room in the first level to get it!" Only this one is real lol.
@EpicDuskk I've found the magic hands make a couple of spots in Crazy Gadget and in Sonic's Canon Core section a little easier for me to do. Helps with the Copy Chaos enemies that'll shoot out their tendrils then fire at you.
Oh this is 100% something that applies to Silent Hill 2. Fantastic game, but it’s been analyzed and mythologized to the point where it’s mystique is all but dried up

LOST COLONY has a glitch where you can get into the room by going juuuust under/next to the platfrom (the red part), right hand side, by the six horizatal lines, use Lightspeed Attack at bomb to glitch past 18:43 20:43 death barriers are based on frames, if sonic is doing something that makes him have zero frames (aka in the middle of some attacks) he'll go right through the barrier 23:57 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 idea: collect all the rings in levels as _____ (voter poll?) I vote Amy, Chaos Zero, Sonic, or Knuckles
Nice video! Really impressed with a lot of these you did, it's no small feat. A few corrections: -Prison Lane and Lost Colony are not clearable, but both of them can actually go very far into the level. Prison Lane is just one robot in the final room from being clearable, and Lost Colony it's actually possible to make it past the door after the elevator, but you quickly hit a wall at the final bomb door of the level, with no way past other than maybe some ridiculous TASbouncing. -Iron Gate is actually clearable! RU-vid really sucks because I tried so hard to find videos of those levels being possible, and that one never came up. It looks insanely difficult, I might have to attempt that next after I mentally recover from the eternal engine skip. Thank you for finding that video! As for Prison Lane, I cannot find any video of anyone getting past that door that I got stuck on. I saw one video that said they got to the point at the end so I know what robot your talking about, but that video never explained how they got past that hallway. If you know how I'd love to hear it!
@@EpicDuskk I do! I'm one of the people who was working with bandy and charii for their video back in 2020 on that stage specifically. You have to do a pretty annoying superbounce off a very small ledge to sneak around the ceiling collision. Here's a video of the whole route from back then. I wish I would have known all this sooner tbh, would have loved to include both these tricks in the video, I might want to do an update video but man it would have been awesome to get it in this one. Although I'd probably still be attempting Iron Gate skips lol.
You get shot up by every pulley because they're all calibrated for Tails's weight in the mech. They're all calibrated to make Tails jump off at a specific height, so when playing as the much lighter Sonic you get launched a lot higher.
iron gate is doable as sonic, it's just stupidly difficult and requires you to clip out of bounds on top of the doors and quite a few sometimes-blind spindash jumps on to many pieces of invisible collision. Prison lane up until the last checkpoint is doable as even shadow with some very fun-looking cylinder clippage, knuckles can complete the stage through many of the same methods shadow (and therefore sonic) can use, but has the advantage of being able to glide to skip the final enemy gauntlet. Shoutouts to axlthunder for doing both of the above on video btw, the iron gate as sonic one is mind-blowing in particular.
I just really wanna be a full time RU-vidr already so I wanna keep putting stuff out till it happens lol. I plan things out week by week, but I dont have a schedule or anything. I try to do one "Challenge" like this a week on monday, and try to have it edited that same week if I can. Thats about as close to planning it out as I get lol

Having side characters is the reason why this and many other games failed. They need to stop having drastically different gameplay styles. This game would have been much better if they focused on Sonic gameplay primarily given their tight budget and Rushed development
You can actually still beat king boo boom if you dont beat him in one circle,when the cutscene after the place gets lit up end you have to jump as fast as you can to were king boo boom is before he elevates to the walls,he will start to wiggle when your on top of him,so you have to calculate a summer assult directly on the wall to get him out.
“Sonic is the only fun character in Sonic Adventure 2” Shadow: … Edit: personally I enjoyed the Mech stages, but I’m not a big fan of the treasure hunting stages in this game. I’m not sure why I found the levels at least decent in Sonic Adventure, but here not so much.
The treasure hunting stages get alot more fun once you get better at them. Moving around quickly as knuckles and rouge is really fun, and when you get to the point where you read one hint and know where the emerald is, the levels become more about doing them quickly, vs trying to actually find them. I will say though I would like to have seen more levels that used treasure characters, but for non hunting levels. I have alot of fun playing as them in sonic's levels
Im pretty sure the thing with pumpkin hill forcing an emerald underground if you dont have the shovel claws, checks if your current character has the claws, and because sonic doesn’t have them, knuckle does, its forced underground. However if you pick up the claws as sonic, it recognizes that sonic has the claws until you leave the level (and maybe restart the level but im not sure on that one)
Yeah I know, but for the sake of these challenges the goal is to see if the character can beat the levels on their own. Giving shadow bounce bracelet and magic hands basically just turns him into a sonic skin.
Sonic not getting his point combos in Weapons Bed must mean that the inactive GUN bots aren't actually enemies, but rather just stage props. The reason Eggman can get combo points from them is because they count as numbered targets. The more targets, the more points Eggman gets for a combo, whereas Sonic's is directly tied to hitting enemies without touching the ground.
@@EpicDuskk that, or maybe they needed to make them props because if they were enemies they would activate? Idk there's a lot of possibilities with this one. Just interesting to note- I love this game more than any other so I just like finding little intricacies like that in it.
Yes, it didnt work. We have since found a way further into the level though! Theres an invisible wall we can super bounce off, Ill include a clip of it in tommorows video.
Hey I've done one of these before.The hardest one for me was cosmic wall, but it was also pretty fun. Took like 30 minutes.For eternal engine I just gave up lol
in Sonic Adventure 2 mod i use Character Select Mod - Allows you to play as any character by holding buttons during level loading and play as 2p vs characters to. i do not need to do the super bounce to play tails level Eternal Engine. all i need to do is fall and the door to the big ring is opened as Sonic.
I think that defeats the purpose of this challenge if the mod changes the level to make it possible though. I didnt want to use any mods that would alter the levels in any way
Yeah that would have been cool. I tried alot, and we researched other similar challenges and nobody seems to have a way to do it. I found one video where the person said they made it all the way to the end, but they didnt show how they got past this door so I dont think they actually did it.
For doing superbounces, it is much more comfortable to me to use the single claw grip. Hold it normally on the left side but put your middle finger the A button and index finger on the B button (nintendo switch controller layout)
Theory: I'm pretty sure the Tails and Eggman pulleys launch Sonic because Tails and Eggman have stronger gravity, and so they have to get up with a very small boost for a jump. Meanwhile, Sonic (and everyone else) have *way* lower gravity, and so that "boost" is very very evident.
That makes sense, but I feel like when I use mech characters on speed stages the pullys work as normal, but i'm not 100% sure, maybe i should go back and check.
20:51 it is because of frames Think if the death plane as a piece of paper that if you touch, you die. Sonic, with the bounce move, moves so fast that he is on one side of thr paper in 1 frame and in the next he phased through it

There was a surprising amount that I didn't know you could do here, though I wonder if we could take this further- There is a pretty obscure trick you can do in (or rather out of) Cannon's Core that might make it possible with Sonic actually. I'm not entirely sure how it works but it seems like you do M2 of Cannon's Core, beat a kart level, and then you'll be summoned into Knuckles part automatically afterwards. Interesting! I'll have to look into that for sure. I know from the randomizer mod that Knuckle's level is for sure beatable by a speed character. (I know the randomzier changes some things, but I'm confident it wouldn't matter) For rouges part, i dont know if theres a way to the top of the pillar where the first time switch is. Maybe when falling into the level for the first time you could just hit it? Or possibly somewhere else you can clip out. Either way Ill have to look into these and see if its possible! ignoring the jokes i really do hope that sega revisits the tiny chao garden concept for a mobile app imagine having your chao on a separate game from the actual sonic games and future sonic games can connect to it to dump rings and stuff into it then we would have the individual sonic games not having to implement entire chao gardens and the chao garden app so we dont have to move chao between different games bad thing though is potential microtransactions and maybe cross game promos? i dont want to have to buy some other sega game just to get a chao i want
The way the character modding works, Im unable to switch characters mid-level. I know from the randomizer mod that knuckle's portion is doable, rouges might be as well but to my knowledge theres no mod that lets me put him in halfway through the level
