Buying a Zaku I and turning it into a Zaku II with a scratch-built bazooka is certainly an interesting choice instead of buying the Origin Zaku II that comes with a bazooka.
Glad we got more gunpla on here! I have been curious on how a mini painter would take a gundam artifact kit since they are about the same size as a Warhammer mini
I know nothing about gundam, but that’s what I love about this channel. Even if it’s from a game/ series/ fandom you’re not familiar with, you can appreciate the skill it takes to produce these pieces of art.
I am actually curious, I would love to see Murray do a "exploded" master grade, where all the armor pieces have been "blown" off the main frame and hover around it. Like a blueprint image but with the main armor off. There's a couple people who have done this with the Master Grade Gundam Virtue from MSG:00. Also, for my favorite gunpla, I'd have to go with either the MG Ver.ka Psycho Zaku or the HG Hygogg (this one is more funny than anything else)
If you guys didn't know, there is a tabletop wargame using Gunplas called Mobile Suit Skirmish. It's fan made but quite well supported. I would like to see the game to be covered in here.
I wonder why Murry didn't use the actual Zaku 2 but since stock is hard to get and he got a video to make. CUSTOM it and make due what you got. Murry knows the gunpla knowledge. Rock on Murry
Problem is there's a lot more differences between a Zaku I and a Zaku II than what he modded. And I'm pretty sure you can still find some variant of a Zaku II for less money than a typical 40k box.
@@bad-people6510 Bruh it doesn't matter if you want to use the actual Kit is use what you got, if you have the skills of custom build then do it. Adapt it
It looks fantastic. I love the cell shaded/cartoony style of painting models, and Murray, you have done a great job! I noticed the Freedom sitting on the shelf in it’s box…the upgraded version (in Gundam Seed Destiny) the Strike Freedom is my favourite Gundam!
The Intro to this video: tangible, visible proof of the phrase "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional." And I have no problem whatsoever than this.
I love how you stuck to a very classic anime-esque style even on the smoke and the starscape, it really feels like it was just taken off the screen and put onto the table!
Now I want to see an actual Gundam build with a manga cell shaded paint scheme, rather than a Zaku or grunt suit! That was amazing and would love to see more like this, if you are up for it! Maybe even try your hand at kitbashing?
Murray is a dope member of the team. I really enjoy watching his features. The Tyranid diorama was beautiful. He did an excellent job on the space marine color scheme. Always professional and unique. It's great to see not Warhammer come to the channel too. I haven't ever had interest in building a Gundam but after his videos on it I might just have to with a friend.
I truly enjoyed this build, customization, and painting you did a fantastic job and produced a glorious piece. Now if we could somehow motivate GW to produce their large models to the same quality as gunpla. It would be truly fantastic.
Damn, Murray !!! That's something and a half! How about adding the rest of the "story" on the other side of the acrylic to show a gundam exploading on impact... Parts flying, leg armor here, chest plate there, dude imagine!! xD
Abrolutely awesome work. As for what I'd like to see going forward: Maybe some content about the mobile suit skirmish game. Each one of you could customize their own gundam (kinda similar to the mcfarlane space marines) and you could make an awesome battle report maybe even on a custom colony styled gaming board similar to the battles in gundam 0080 war in the pocket. Keep up the great work can't wait to see what you do next. :D
"Named for the first animator to use the technique, the inventor, Ichiro Itano, is said to have discovered what it looks like to be in the middle of a hail of rockets when he attached fifty fireworks to his motorcycle and lit them all while driving it around on a beach. Alcohol may have been involved." Apparently there's a fun story behind it too.
Man this is so cool! If we are talking strictly Gundam, it is MS 08th Team. But if we are expanding it to all mecha, it is a toss up between Fang of the Sun Dougram or VOTOMS
Manga Style seems really hard to do. The wall mounting was really a great idea. (And I see your brushes do that odd little bend at the top that mine always do after I have used for a while. Thought it was only me)
It would be really cool if you used an old kit or a first grade kit and customized it. They're way simpler and less detailed than modern kits, but it's really fun to turn then into something new.
I think I'm going to have to buy a gunpla for myself soon. That looked like a lot of fun to work on. Plus my youngest has been building up a collection of his own so maybe we could find a project together 😁
the sth-14s Hyakuri is a really cheap high grade but to this day is one of my favourites and one i always recommend, other than that the Blue Destiny HG is probably the tightest fitting kit i ever built, the catharsis of putting it's backpack on and how flush in clicks in just wow
You should do the scene from ironblooded orphan season 2 where barbatos is fighting the mobile armor and he's gotten his arm ripped off so he jumps back and is standing on one of the other mobile suits and grabs the mobile suit sword. I think it's grimmgerd that he takes the sword from. that would be a sick diorama
It would be sick to make a larger gundam possibly breaking though a wall or something like that. My favorite is the Barbatos Lupus Rex from Iron Blooded Orphans
I'm still new to the gumdam franchise, Gundam Seed was what introduced me to it. Iron blooded Orphan and Origin was the last series that I saw, I know I need to watch the original and I plan to one day
Epic stuff! The Zaku is one of the coolest mech designs out there, and has even been my favorite mech since before I even knew what it was (seeing it as a kid but not knowing about the show). It's also always cool to see Gundam painted up in cell-shaded style; it really brings them to life, making them feel like the leapt straight out of the TV screen. More Gundam would be awesome to see.
Gundam wing as that was the first one I watched Tallgeese (all versions) was my fave (have tons of the toy action figures) but liked Iron Blooded Orphans as was nicely done but also no lasers so gave it a more rugged look
You did the Plume highlighting the wrong way around, if it’s illuminated from the inside the crevices would be the brightest being closer the the centre.
I'd love to see more Gunpla- some of the less Gundam knowledge trying to build and paint, say, a Master Grade or a Real Grade! Eventually a perfect grade would be awesome. Also, a video showing just how different the techniques and terminology between Gunpla and Mini building is! For example, in gunpla you cut the piece from the Runner, far away from the piece to not disturb the color of or warp the plastic. Oh, a d my favorite Gundam series is Turn A Gundam. With mecha design by Syd Mead and imo Tomino's magnum opus, its not only my favorite Gundam series but my favorite anime period.
I have a master grade Zaku 2 in my pile of shame, I just kept putting it off because I wanted it to be my best work. The Zaku 2 has always been my favorite mobile suit design.
There's actually a zaku ii model from gundam the origin which comes with that particular bazooka,so when I was watching you build and customise the zaku,I was thinking:why? Amazing video by the way!
Awesome vid, I like the cel shaded style painting on the model kit. Seeing this project makes me want to do a gunpla like this with a Borderlands Hyperion robot theme. Good choice on the Zaku 1 kit too. I love the Origin kits as well mate, they have the one of the best engineering on a HG model kit
I'd love to see you do a custom paint and diorama of a gundam, the RG Hi Nu Gundam (specifically they RX93-V2) would be super challenging due to it's complexity, but it's such a cool model kit.
Yes more Gunpla Stuff!! Been tempted to buy my first kit of ages but after watching this, definitely going to be ordering one and hiding it from the wife 🤫 as for Favourites Show - Gundam Wing Gundam - Barbatos Lupus Rex
Zaku is always my favorite, the classic green zaku ♥ I like a lot of the painting you did here, and I like the idea of the smoke bloom being the base, but I feel like that could have been executed a bit differently so you could see the front of the gundam instead of the back.
I love this build! But the zaku fan in me notices you didnt make the tubes going into the legs. Thats another big difference from the zaku i to zaku ii
The Master Grade Wing Zero EW Ver. Ka is a piece of art in itself. I'd love to see a take on those angel wings. Let's stealth Tabletop Time into a Gundam channel haha.
it's a GUNPLA and a Zaku II is a mobile suit. not all Mobile Suits are Gundams but all Gundams are Mobile Suits. this is why the full title is MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM!
