I love how James is so much more relaxed around the normals when cooking then Ben and Kush. He’s like the fun uncle who lets them do what they like and trusts them. Love it
imo ben and kush should have a go at making Mike his dream menu, the other boys got perfect meals and this was admitted to be not dream territory, Mike deserves his fair turn
The problem is Ben and Kush set up the menu for this dream menu, which is why we got 90% of what we got here. Still think someone should give it a better go tho
@@RyanEglitis Exactly. Ben and Kush were just as responsible for this, if not more so because they boxed James, Barry and Jamie in. Mike does deserve better though, and I think if James had come with the ideas he would have delivered Mike's actual perfect meal.
I enjoyed the chaos of this video, but I do agree with the other comments: Mike deserves a redo. Barry and Jamie got epic meals that they devoured, scoring each course with an 8.5 or higher. For Mike to be served alcohol beforehand to soften the blow and hearing a 'sorry' whilst presented with the dishes doesn't feel right. Let the man have his full English starter, Thai fried chicken main and afternoon tea dessert!
The dream menu series always felt like a way for Ben to show how much he loves & appreciates the “normals" since Ben shows his love through his cooking. Working in concert with Kush and another one of the lads, you can just see how much thought & care Ben put into creating and preparing those meals. When Ben cooked with Mike & Barry, the banter displayed everything we love about Sorted: their friendship, their shared history, how Ben gently focuses their cooking while ribbing and complementing their work, mixed with a smattering of BEN-uendos. All that love and care made this series so special. None of that is present in this video. So much time is spent criticizing the dishes and not enough time showing appreciation for Mike. Having the others on the side like judges instead of seated at the table sharing the experience with Mike didn’t contribute to showing Mike just how special and cared for he is. Please make another video where one of the lads works with Ben and Kush to come up with a different menu. Please have Ben cook with Jamie to make something truly special for Mike. Mike deserves it.
Mike **while being literally the sweetest about a raw deal** - "Hey, I'm just being brutally honest." Me - "No. No you REALLY aren't." If one of these dream menus deserves a do-over, it's this one.
I love how all three just immediately went "Yeah Mike's not going to like this." For who next, MIKE AGAIN! If the best thing on near every plate is a jarred sauce, I'm calling that a fail! Plus it's Mike, a 6 from him is like a 4 from anyone else. I want to the stuff of dreams, not the stuff of low expectations he has for himself! Getting scored a 73 is a D where I come from, certainly not a "dream!"
Where do you come from? Genuinely asking. Because where I come from 60% is first class, and 75% is FCD (first class with distinction - the highest 'category' you can get). Our system is based off the British system (yay colonialism), so I wouldn't expect the modern UK to be a million miles away. A D is what I've always thought of as a failing grade - so somewhere between 35-40!

I was just thinking a few days ago that Mike never got his dream menu... and he still hasn't! ☹️ Actually felt quite sad watching this video. Generally i love all the joking around and teasing each other, but the last 2 dream menus were so thoughtful trying to make something your friend would love, even complementing your friend while you were cooking for them which felt so wholesome. Whereas this one poor Mike got shafted and was too nice to say it. Joining the growing call for a redo!

Mike deserves a redo. This felt phoned in at best and it was only by good fortune that you guys made one thing that he genuinely liked. Also come on Barry, for someone so proud of winning that red apron you don't seem too keen on doing anything to keep it.
Nothing is more hurtful from close friends than something "made just for you" that isn't great and reveals they either don't know you or intentionally did something you're not crazy about (like the bass). Poor Mike! He's such a sweetheart and deserved to feel as treasured and catered to as the rest. He's the last person who should have to put a brave face on a disappointment!

I’ve been an avid watcher of sorted for years now and I have to say time and time again Mike gets a bit shafted. He shows time and time again he has care and passion and is creative (remember the cheese stuffed venison (?) ball with Jerusalem artichoke puree?!) yet he has no confidence and this video sums up why in my opinion. Love all the guys but this imbalance is becoming more and more apparent.
Loved watching Baz's Dream Menu and how much he loved it ... then he took it all as a joke when creating Jamie's menu and messed about, and now Mike's menu had so little consideration being put it. I thought the series would be a wholesome bit of fun as instead of ... "sure, that'll do ".

Barry just fucked around during Jamie's dream meal, and they cared even less about Mike's meal. The all knew from the beginning it wasn't Mike's dream meal and it seems to me they just thought "It's Mike, it's fine if he doesn't love it, let's just get it done." James at least seemed to feel bad about it and be disappointed in himself. Seeing this video after watching that disastrous live stream yesterday is even more disappointing though. I hope Sorted will go back to thoughtful, positive, fun videos. I'm laughing less and less at the jokes because I just don't care for the vibe anymore. Seriously, yesterday it felt like they were trauma bonding and today I watch them put no consideration into their best friends "dream" meal.

its not even barry's fault tho so i dont know what are you on. Since the start, the recipe looks like it was made as a joke (bass mean seabass, eventhough he likes chicken more than fish in other question) So, it probably gives the cooks a vibe that they are not going to take it seriously.

Mike was absolutely done DIRTY! Barry got home made pasta and a specially designed cocktail, Jamie got a burrito the size of a small child and Mike got....... KFC and jarred pickalilly.

I would love to see Ben and Kush react to how the boys did! I think it would be hilarious for them to have to explain the logic of the fish (because we all know, Mike does not like fish)
I love these just because of the weird logic the chefs use to justify their decision. Also the dessert sounds amazing... Any chance we could get the recipe on Sidekick? But I agree that Mike should get a do-over. They also need to say nicer things about Mike while cooking rather than just rib on Ben and Kush. Jamies dream menu is one of the most wholesome videos cuz of the way Barry and Ben talk about him while cooking ❤

The way Jay, James and Barry were presenting the meal to Mike made it seem like a group project xD James was explaining the dessert to Mike and the way that everyone else "yes and" him XD He was so confused when Mike agreed that there was logic in that xD amazing
I liked this video mainly because James was in it and mike was so humble with the dishes he had for his " dream " menu #mikedeservesbetter! Lol and the two condiments that he liked were not made by them but from the store out of a jar. Was that part of the menu outline or because they didn't feel like making something like that? And a tempura batter is easy to make from scratch and flavored butter in it was James' idea. ...
I would love to see each person choose their 'last meal' - they know exactly what they've asked for, but it's up to the team to make it the best possible version they can and present it in an amazing way. Extra points for creativity that fits the person requesting the meal. Or even better, have Kush and Ben make it, serve it to the group and then they have to try and work out whose 'last meal' it is.
I really liked how in the other ones it seemed like they really tried and cared about giving something really nice to there friend. In this it seemed a bit more like what you guys normally do in other series. Don't get me wrong I love the joking about and stuff but it's nice to see you guys acutlly try really hard and work to make the best dish you can, and really show how much you know each other and care about each other.
I get the silly questionnaire premise of these, but when you’ve done them all I’d love to see a heart-felt, you sit around a table and reminisce about food experiences you saw each other transported by, and make a menu around that. I’ve recently come to the conclusion that it’s the relationships that make channels compelling, and you all have really lovely chemistry.
I love how Ben and Kush secretly did create Mike's dream menu with that Thai Curry, Pandan and Bollinger milkshake xD. Anyone who's been around Sorted knows that Mike loved the fake Wensleydale cheese that tasted like Mint Choc Chip when everyone else found it revolting xD. There's got to be a co relation there xD
This is how I imagine a kitchen runs in real life the chef oversees the sous chef does all the things the chef doesn't want to and the rest of them does 90% of cooking but very compartmentalized when they each make something specific.
So hilarious to watch the boys fumble around with the creation of the drink only for Mike to absolutely love it. The looks on their faces when he gave it a 9/10 was amazing. 😂
I was half hoping the Abba portion would be some product(s) from the Swedish seafood company Abba who makes e.g. a lot of varieties of pickled herring, fish balls in sauce, tinned anchovy etc. :)

Mike should get a do over of his menu especially since only oneof the things he really liked maybe Kush and Ben redo it since they were gone and couldn't make it the way they Envisioned it.
All I see here is James making demands and doing the easy stuff (as head chef of course), Barry being the perfect Sous and doing all the difficult or loud tasks and Jamie being just a ball of anxiety - hierarchical cooking at its finest 😂
