What you find not only depends on what you type in, but also on what you usually consume. All search engines individualize your results in some ways. My favorite is Jordan Klepper showing up at a MAGA rally and talking to people. He spoke with several people who were trained Republican poll watchers in 2020 and all of them said, "I cannot say that I saw ANY fraud in the 2020 election." And then when asked if they thought there was fraud in the 2020 election, again they all said, "Yes, fraud on a massive scale."
The sad fact is that propaganda works. Fox, OAN, Alex Jones, et al, these entities foment distrust in our institutions and call that "democracy". They have garnered loyal followers for decades and now we're seeing the "fruits" of their profiteering, which is the destruction of our actual democracy. But those entities don't care even a little bit. Seeing Russian state "news" quote people like Tucker Carlson turns my stomach. The entities destroying our democracy are playing into the hands of our adversaries, Russia, China, Iran, etc, any country that hates democracy is jumping up and down over the damage that is being done to our government system and the followers refuse to see this. It will be our demise. I fear and believe that in 2 years, this country will be unrecognizable in comparison to just 5, 10 years ago. I love Elle's approach to journalism. She comes as a real person, listens and engages. This is better than the challenging, divisive way so many of us treat each other online. I'm guilty of it too but it's not working. We are not going to get past this mess by hating on each other.

What is a delusion is when they run out of points to support their claim and they still adhere to the claim without any valid points. That's not when they should double down, that's when they should drop the delusion. Unfortunately that might involve admitting that they were wrong or that they had been lied to. I worked as an election official in Michigan for years. My last time was the 2016 presidential election. There were no poll watchers, mail in ballots were fine for everyone. It's just insane what one presidential administration, and their cohorts can do to a fully fair election. But in 2020 when he lost, all of that fell apart. We now have Republicans that won their election when Trump lost, saying that election wasn't fair. If not, then why are they serving the public? Or was just their part fair? Because every ballot that came through had both Presidential, senate and house elections on the same piece of paper. And the person working as an election official doesn't even see if they're voting Republican or Democrat that part is covered. It's just insane what people will believe, just by being told.

My absentee ballot was very thoroughly checked. My cat watched my fill out the ballot while I was in bed just wearing underwear. I was in the underwear, not the cat. He was naked except for his collar. My dog watched me drop off the completed ballot in the drop box in front of city hall. While my cat is a little iffy, I completely trust my dog's sense of Civic Duty.
I am wondering now. My dog carried the ballot to the drop box, from the car, in her mouth. She is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever and enjoys carrying items for me. Is that legal?

Yup. and for all the talk about dominion hacking votes they always leave out that dominion has paper ballots as well. First you vote on screen. Then it is printed and you can see what is printed. Then you take your printed ballot and put it into a second machine that scans it and deposits into a tamper proof container below. Then the paper count is compared to the electronic count. Elle’s interview technique is fascinating. She reminds me of Louis Theroux. It is both really smart and really effective how she uses a kind of wide-eyed innocence, almost ditzy, approach to get get her subject to open up and relax.
In my opinion, it all comes down to people not wanting to accept a result that goes against what they wanted. It's then easy to say there had to be fraud.
I'm glad she's out interviewing, and not some of the hosts... She does an AMAZING job, and always has. She's been on VICE for a long time and this is her style. Calm and collected.

Elle has a nice "human touch" when interviewing. She models how to lovingly and respectfully communicate with those who have strayed into self-interested fantasy and conspiracy theories.
Her empathy for her fellow humans, regardless of politics, really shines through. It's probably the only way to reach people, and she does it so easily. I try to do the same when speaking to misinformed people, but I end up getting frustrated, and things start getting ugly.

Probably because knowingly making false statements, or half-truths, has been going on for millennia. It's part of the human condition. It's a strategy used by those who feel their power is jeopardized by another. The Republican party in the United States, because most of their platforms are increasingly unviable in a changing world, and are thus losing a great deal of their power, are opting for one of their last resorts, which is a kind of nuclear option. If it fails, their party dies. If it succeeds, they have total authority (i.e. fascist dictatorship). Either way they lose in the broad scope of history.
We need to start with BIG LIARS like Trump, Senators Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, etc., etc.. These Senators especially know that Trump is a pathological LIAR and they willingly condone and lie for their own selfish interests. The Department of Justice needs to prosecute these LIARS. They are undermining our country and democracy.
Then I say that that person needs to get a different source for their information. If something doesn't feel right or sound right to you, go with your gut, and at least check to see if the info is accurate-quit swallowing a line simply because it came from a guy/girl you happened to vote for. That's just plain dumb to do so, frankly.
