Great career, just fell off toward the end after 10+ years of success. I can see why people say since Paper Trail, he hasn't been the same. Salute though. Legend
Everybody has a peak, T.I. Kanye West, 50 Cent and the like. Can't stay at the top forever but as long as you leave your mark while you're there, I say he was successful in his mission.
I never saw ti as a fall off but just an artist who along with the other artists of his era just ran their course dude is definitely a legend in the game so it’s not like he has anything to prove honestly
@@blacknetsmedI ain't gon lie I agree with you, it's crazy how he changed so much, social media Definitely brung him down fr that definitely fucked up his image, I been saying that shit
@@abasi-dominiquerawlings1470 yep, tip already had his run at the top already, now when it comes to trap music, it’s our turn. rappers such as DaBaby Lil baby Polo G, Young Thug, and other modern rappers from Atlanta, are keeping trap music alive. also Pop music is also using trap music as well.
Tip had a hell of a run. With him keep going to jail kinda derailed his career starting in 2008. But he really did his thing and left a big legacy for himself.
T.I. Never fell off mentally he grew as a man speaking proper English becoming an activist and becoming a family man as a rapper that can have an affect towards music and record sells cause not all but fans don’t wanna see rappers grow
Edit that bs again. I guess you think that Michael Eric Dyson speaks proper English??? That's word salad bs. Same as Ti. Also, you forgot to say becoming a (democratic) activist. Because all he does is support democratic policies/issues, talking points, etc. No one wants to hear a street partisan politician as a rapper. The only s8&& that grew about TI is his nose. Because he's a li@r, etc
@@herbertdavis82 the AI comparison was spot on ...both are definate legends and changed the game in their professions but slipped up a few times, had theyd not slipped, both would be in top 3 in their fields
Exactly right there with Wayne they ran them years but I'd add 09 to it by 2010 and that gun charge ti still very relevant but I feel like he wasn't as big (same with Wayne) but I am not a human being was bigger than no mercy so by 2011-12 ti was slowly becoming not as big and around 2015-16 music wise I'd say he cooled down hell most rappers do Rick Ross, Jeezy, Gucci, etc.
Aside from a few examples there isn't much longevity in Rap. Ti started out on fire then he cooled off mostly due to his prison stints. He ventured in other avenues such as business, & films. He came in got what he came to get and kept it moving.
nah he had a 9 year reign, he outlasted most rappers that came from the mid-2000's, just because he not doing music anymore doesn't mean he fell off, he decided to branch off into other ventures, and don't forget he had Grand Hustle Records where he was managing other acts including Pimp Squad Click and movies ATL, American Gangster and Takers. and a reality show with Tiny that lasted damn near 7 years. He's up there with the greats as far as I'm concerned. your assessment is wrong.
Nah, just yall in tha A. The rest of us Georgians got small town heros who got mo respectable legacies to uphold than t.i.ps. T.i ain't have no choice but to go pop cuz his "hard, gangsta" image was ruined.😂 still respect yall in the A tho.
Ti has done some weird stuff over the past few years that makes it seem like his career was stunt. However, ti had a 5-6 album run of gold, platinum, and multi platinum albums. From 03-09, tip was a top 5 rapper in the industry.
I don’t think a legend can fall off. It’s more his time is up and the new generations time is now. Once when you reach the top and it’s solidified then it’s time to move on anyway like a Jay Z. Everyone falls off. Not really in skill but more of the music changes and like athletics rap is a young man’s game. A old TI is not a sex symbol like yesteryear. He a old uncle type now. He a big homie. He shouldn’t be compared to todays landscape
Hey stunted growth I really appreciate your content on both channel's, but if you don't mind could you do a nappy roots, dead prez, bone thugs n harmony episodes? appreciate it man.
T.I. definitely wom the “championship” in 2006 when the album came out, he was on top of the world. He had the top album and movie at the same TIME. Also both his last two albums sold over 20k the first. The sales you looking at pure first week sales not total including streaming.
Still on the best imo especially in 2000s dude got an immaculate discography and an exquisite flow smooth as butter. Even in the 2010s he had sole solid shit. But musically he hasn’t hit the same partly cuz I think thats not his focus no more. Mostly business shhit but the daughter comments screwed his image.
[Fr fr] T.I. is in same boat as Eminem as far as havin' made [multiple] classic albums & (ppl) havin' to be a fan to enjoy his music... His legacy is cemented already.
T.I. is the shit! As someone from the south that dude was HUGE down here back in the day. I dont think id say he fell off, he just cant stay tf outta trouble.
2001- TI predicted his ascension on the last verse of the song "I'm Serious." Pretty much did everything he said in that verse. IYKYK. Top 5 from the South.
He didn't fall off, he grew up and evolved. Most of these kids who are fans of this rap generation were too young or not even born to appreciate his greatness. Most of T.I's fans have grown up with him. And he still has a big album coming up. He didn't fall off, people nowadays have just grown wack and soft. People are very lame these days.
T.I. ain't the same man he was when he came out. He had to grow. If T.I. stayed the same person this stunted growth episode would have been about him not changing with the times. Everyone growth gets stunted simply because they had their time and the New Era taking first place.
If it’s 06-08 and you asked somebody who the best talk rapper was they would most likely say Wayne, T.I., or Kanye. 50 cents run was losing its energy around that time and Eminem and Jay Z were already household names.
Outside of the heinous allegations that goes on with him and his wife, T.i. is hands the best rapper when it comes to flows and beat selection. I think more people who love the non mainstream southern sound would absolutely love listening to some of his unheard of songs.
@Sunset overdrive 2 when? you're a liar and that's sorry lol. I hope someone puts some shit on your name so you can see how it feels. Shit gone be funny asl. Im going to laugh now tho. That's if you even pan out #Karma 🤣🤣🤣
I would say TIP definitely was a champion and if you gonna compare him to a basketball player i would say he was like Isiah Thomas. Was a person who dominated era but injuries plagued his end of his career.
@@kingbrahma5005 I’m aware of that but at this point in his career he no longer had that rawness after the tv and all the allegations..the one syllable fast rapping is just too drawn out for me 🥱
Honest opinion on TI & I grew up idolizing him Going to prison in 09 kinda killed his momentum then being released a year later, only to go back a year later made it worst. Trouble Man was arguably his last project that had quality to it, in my opinion but I think the one that also affected his career was him not working with DJ Toomp & we all know that Toomp gave TI that legendary Trap Muzik sound that we became fans of. What U Know, You Don't Know Me, 24s, Dope Boyz, or even Bankhead. Toomp single handedly birthed the legend we all grew to love in TI but NOTHING affected his career more than having 3 #1 singles in 09 with Live Ya Life, Whatever You Life, & Dead & Gone then he went off to prison back to back which made the momentum slow down. Music probably doesn't sound the same anymore cause he has nothing left to prove. He help pioneer trap music with Jeezy & Gucci as well as put help put Atlanta on the Hip Hop map to let folks know that mfs in the south can spit & be as lyrical as the likes of Jay Z or Nas
T.I. never fell off, his albums probably didn't sell as much after Paper Trail but he still had good hit singles (example: About The Money song with Young Thug)! He was still on the radio throughout the 2010's with a few songs (Money Talk, Dope, etc.)! The landscape of music changed because it was all about downloads before streaming became accessible for artists to make money. Plus the business of rap is targeting the youth, by the 2010s, the youth wanted to be like Chief Keef, Migos & a few others, T.I. wasn't influential to the generation under us. He may of experience different trails and tribulations but he always made a way to stay relevant.
I’ll go devils advocate. TI was in his 30s making those pop albums and also had been in the rap game approaching 2 decades. I feel a certain way about the snitching, but that’s for a different conversation. However, there comes a time where I just don’t really believe you’re still trapping and moving bricks or yayo. It’s why space entered the chat with Jay Z and Dame Dash. Jay considered Dame bad for business for where he was envisioning himself to go/be. When you get a seat at the table with the people that are really cutting the checks, Jay and TI changed their tunes. There’s staying true to the hood and hood money, but then there’s the generational wealth and the icon piece. They just moved up a level to have a different seat at the table.
street rap was dead in 09/10 with the emergences of Drake, autotuned, and rappers doing more singing than rapping. That hurt T.I in a major way artistically. He went pop to adjust to the new pop friendly era
Right?!?! It just no longer makes sense. You’re most likely a man with a family and grandkids. I’m a few years younger than TI, and the last thing I want to hear a 40 year old rapping about is pushing bricks. People clowned Ice T too when he joined Law and Order. Guess what, he’s been collecting a very steady paycheck for 20 years. He’s 65 years old, what is he going to look like rapping about gun violence and pimping hoes. Talk about looking like a 🤡🤡
I mean rappers and musicians in general popularity/longevity in the spotlight is anywhere between 2-5 years, so if you have a career anywhere past that, that’s a hell of a feat. T.I. Had a career not many people can claim and was able to branch off to do side hustles, create a music label with multiple rap prodigies , is connected as one of the founders of Trap rap and still be a notable name in the game to this day. So he didn’t fall off or have any stunted growth. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Dude made his name in the game.
He is exactly the same as lil bow wow. He didn't understand social media was a different animal. And he wasnt guaranteed to be loved there. He is totally oblivious to the fact he was gooding to so many people who didn't live the life to his music.
When you have a 10-year run. When you get cast in ROOTS. And when you become such an OG in your city, that mayors are calling you to stop riots........!
This a major reach ti career never fell off he just had an era lmao his catalog is deep as hell and he has many awards and plaques to show for his work saying he fell off is wild my boy
That Paper Trail album was the best masterpiece of an album that I heard in '08. And he was on house arrest at that time. TI was killing shit lyrically.
Ok now you just saying anything. TI ain’t fall off, he had his shine when it was his turn, times have changed, the landscape of music has changed, this ain’t ‘06 no more. Are you gonna do one saying Jay Z fell off as well? Everybody can’t be on top all the time, TI was on top when it was his time, plus he turned to reality tv and other ventures. TI ain’t fall off, he’s cemented his place in music. I think you just put out things just to put them out sometimes. T.I., like 50 cent, Ludacris, Dmx, Ja rule, etc none fell off, they paid they dues and moved on
Tbh Labels kept merging from ‘04-’12. When Spotify came to America it was kinda too late and records labels were switching to digital releases. Many 2000s artists eventually declined by the next decade.
I’m a big A.I fan and I really like the comparison between him and T.I. T.I had a hell of a MVP type of season when he dropped Paper Trail. I though he was gonna get out of jail and pick up from there…
