Bruh I love what u do u got mad talent for this real in depth but with the music industry u leave out the satanic side that comes with it all that also stunts growth
Mase ran to be a pastor in Georgia my ex girl went to his church he only left the rap game because he had sex a dudes girl who was a big gangsta in harlem Named baby Maine plus after biggie's death he was Scared for his life he only came back cause the heat cooled down baby maine was gone
Imo, no. He like Mark Curry, G-Dep, Shyne, and Black Rob(R.I.P.) were viewed as Bad Boy trying to appeal to Biggie and L.O.X fans. Ma$e was especially "Diddy's sidekick". Even in Ma$e's "Tell Me What You Want" music video, the woman in the beginning said "The real man I wanted was Puffy" 😂
@@imperialstats I keep hearing about the narrative of him running away. I'm starting to believe that since he immediately went back to being Murda Ma$e once Welcome Back got mixed reviews. I'm still unsure and I don't want to judge the man if he really just wanted to bridge gaps or had another reason he's not telling us.
He went to the church cause he realized the people around em were dying cause of the business he was in! Lucifer is the god of music, he gotta he fed. Rs 👁.
@@vega6880 nah, he had beef with a local Harlem dealer who he was banging his bm. Made started getting out of line and got green lighted. Church was a ploy.
After Biggle got killed Mase kept light on for Bad Boy records. One of the most slept-on rappers in the game he spit rhymes with X, Jay, The Lox, Black Rob, Cam, Big L. He brought Swag, smooth, delivery, hits, wrote for Diddy, etc, etc. Gave his flowers while he still here.
I have a much higher regard for his talents now, than I did then. I'll give him that, he was a genius but I detested the direction that Hip Hop was going in, and that HE represented. The decline of Native Tongues.
@@BigDapPacino he lived vicariously through his artists that were growing at that time. At least Suge Knight was not all in Pac’s videos and was not trying to rap
@@mistermoneyman8899 I think the quotation from the bible was mostly done out of spite, which to each their own, but I generally disagree with the depiction of Christianity as being cultlike
His growth was stunted mostly because of him and that bad contract lol but in a short time he made a huge impact he was the number one artist in the world at one point influenced many styles Fab, 50 Cent, Loon etc and some rappers say he was one of their fav rappers Eminem, Kanye, Pusha T
Another one that Diddy made run to religion. I don’t know what he does or exposes them to, but it’s a common denominator, for sure. If it ain’t a religion it’s a prison.
@@anatorres-ym8ke All of those rappers that go platinum have to give it up to somebody, The entertainment industry is a dirty game, smh. I'd rather be broke, unless God will bless me with the talent to use His gift, wisdom knowledge and understanding to use it correctly and through that reap the rewards of it.
Mase will always be one of my favourites. His flow was unmatched and his catalog is amazing, the way he delivers, his pun on words and ability to paint a clear picture. I was gonna quote something from one of my favourite songs of his, but I can't lol too many sensitive internet siblings. So I'll quote my other favourite: "I wanna see you happy even if it's not with me - Mase"
Puffy had the business sense, Mase had the creativity, Lox had the team play and back and forth, Biggie had the flow and voice, Loon had the smoothness, Kim had the hype and performing, and Craig Mack had the in your face points,
Do a stunted growth for Juvenile he was the biggest artist at Cash Money Records in 1998- 2000 then he left and Lil Wayne took over. But I guess like Puff Daddy aka P. Diddy, Baby aka Birdman was the biggest stunt growth in the artists careers at Cash Money Records. Looking at everyone else there it's a wonder how Lil Wayne even became as big as he is and his career being one of the longest in rap music without it being messed up by Birdman
@@christophermiller6835 Yeah and what happened after he left Cash Money. He would've been bigger maybe like Lil Wayne was after or a more top rapper but he didn't reach there cause his growth was stunted after that
@@camronshean1758 I disagree...Juvenile wasn't as focused as Wayne was...Juve didn't want that type of fame because he knew what came with it. Wayne became an icon but he took major L's for years behind closed doors until it came to the light. Every rapper dont wanna be super famous. Juve wanted to do it his way without Cash Money & he kept his dignity with it. Wayne had to sell his soul & kiss a grown ass man in the mouth everyday for crumbs compared to the $$ Baby made off of him.
@@christophermiller6835 Juvenile left Cash Money cause they didn't pay him what he was owed as well as B.G. & Turk. That's when he decided to do things on his own and he was a big star at the time, when did he say he didn't want to be. He left then came back to Cash Money put out another album on the label that went platinum and then left again. His music after that didn't work, he was big before Lil Wayne was. He probably would've been a bigger or at least lasted longer otherwise and Lil Wayne still made millions even tho he was suppose to get more. Everyone knows Birdman doesn't fully pay anyone and takes money for artists but it was far from making crumbs. Disagree or not that's how it is
Pop lotti was cool with Mase though even Maine at one point. Both Lotti and Maine did not get along so there was bound to be war whether Mase was involved or not
I’m sorry it is a classic! I hated ma$e when he came out. But I appreciated the album later on. Ma$e had a knack for penning hits. And rhyme style is one of the top 3up north rhyme style (nas , red man , and ma$e)
To this day...I'm still confused how he went from a pastor, made a family friendly comeback album with him talking about his faith, had the comeback album not do as well, then a year later do stuff with G-Unit as Murda Ma$e again.
He left to be a pastor cause he smashed a big gangsta dude's baby mother so he hid in church and rap church he came back to street rap when the gangsta dude (baby maine) died
@@imperialstats i remember thinking it was odd he kept doing 180s then i remember i went to a party out out in brookyln in 96 as teen with friends played ball there and i knew a few dudes who knew mace, according to them mace was known to bang dude's girls and wives (rumor he was having sex with a british/swedish singer robyin and the british singer billie piper) then they spoke abput baby maine and mace ran to being pastor....i mean honestly most of rappers like mace constantly banged and bragged about banging dude's girlfriends or having side chicks around
“The thing about religion is it excludes too many people. Neither you or I are touched by angels.” Truer words have never been spoken. And who better to speak them than JC?
Man JC Stunted Growth, this is one of your best videos and the best depiction of Mase's career I've ever seen. The Bible verse stunts were cold, but hilarious.
As I said on Twitter: he's my 1st favorite rapper. My earliest music (and general) memories come from '97 when Mase featured on the I'm Coming Out single.
That was my intro to B.I.G. as well as a young kid. I know a lot of hip-hop "heads" hated the simple sample, but the beat still slaps at a function and everyone brought that verbal 🔥🔥
I'd be pretty tight too if another man basically owned my body of work $25 million music catalog and masters and Diddy's great grandkids set for life.... 🤪🤦🏿♂️💰 Always read the contracts.
The one thing you can’t take from the man is, unlike many other puppets in the music business this guy is doing exactly what he wants to do, even if it is confusing for some... maybe he is the genius and we are the witnesses to brilliance. The rest are to afraid to be different from who they’ve been. In the end you have to do what you feel is right for you.
Dope vid. And you hit the nail on the head with Mase' growth stunts. Mase may be on Jay Z and Nas if he would've never left to be a minister. He then stomped out his legacy when he tried to come back to rap, and then left again, only then to beef with Cam, and leave again. Made himself look like a clown
Mase wuz that guy. He had the whole package. He could definitely b 1 of the Goats. As far as religion or spirituality contrary to popular belief the Most High isnt dealing wit everybody. The truth doesn't bring people together it separates people
Mase the reason Fabolous aka Loso is my Favorite Rapper well Fab & Starlito tied but anyways he's why I easily gravitate 2 FABOLOUS SO QUICKLY Fabolous just had harder wittier lines bars punchlines
I think Mase is a dope rapper but one thing that confused me is the back and forth from church to hip hop because that's what made people not respect him as much. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017
Bro i appreciate your platform M.A.$.£ was the reason alot people spent hours in the bathroom brushing trying convert puddles into Deep sea wavez this was so necessary 4 the Culture based on a couple Videos i 👀you not only a Student of the game but also a Fan of the game Respectfully keep going 💯💪
im a rapper from ny and i used to talk about mase in such a high regard and people used to klown me and act like mase wasnt a good rapper and watching this video i fully understand why ny niggas didnt really like him . he do cornball shit like that ... like i get you not wanting to rap about certain things so you stop and become a preacher .. kool i understand you leaving the church to rap again sure yea your heart is in music i get that .. but the cornball shit starts when you leave the church only to rap about the same bs you didnt want to continue rapping about in the first place . like my g if you gonna change actually fuckin change dont do no bullshit i found jesus thing like thats real corny frfr but great video man i been subbed for a lil over a year and i really fw ya videos ... its nice to watch wit a blunt
Damn, disrespectful af! I kinda thought you had a problem with him personally and decided to bash him. Whatever happen with his contract or why he left could or could not be true, idk..one thing for sure, he is still one of the best to do it. Can’t take away his greatness! Mase always been one of the top tier artists and basketball player. Regardless, he’s one of Harlem’s Finest.
Cam was better on the court...he actually got a full scholarship and got expelled from a college in a another state for acting a fool but there is footage of Cam schooling future NBA players at Rucker Park!
He can’t be a pastor and a rapper at the same time. Mase needs to look deep within himself to rediscover his true passion then make a chose. Good luck to either path he decides.
stunt number 1 He did the worst thing you could do as a rapper or artist period. That is left the game during his peak which in his case was huge and in his prime. It's similar to Lauryn hill. That's career suicide. stunt no.2 I feel his heart wasn't 100% in rap because he kept coming back and retiring. I'm a mase fan and Harlem world is still one of my favorite rap albums of all time and one of the best albums from a Harlem rapper period! Along with one of the best bad boy rap albums
I went to HS with Ma$e and Cam...we all know 'Why You Over There Looking At Me' was a true story...Ma$e smashed a chick World was with and Ma$e was scared and ran...he felt being a popular spiritual leader would protect him...(World had a hit out on Mike Tyson)
Mase was always so confusing to me. He was actually pretty nice before he got with BadBoy Records. I heard him on a demo with Cam and Big L and he was pretty damn good.🤔
Bro your lines about religion in the beginning was super unexpected but real as hell. I think more people need to look at religion the same way. Way too exclusionary
I suggest Canibus for a video! He was cold on the mic, 2nd to none lyrically; and had so much potential! He was ahead of his time; so what stunted his growth?
Didn't they learn from the biggie line. ( I got lawyers watching lawyers so I don't go broke. Shame what diddy has done to his artists. Or more like what the artist let diddy do to them. Take heed youngins.
