(looks back after getting one notification, the many likes and replies, including from the man himself) Dear lord, that's a rush. Thanks everyone! I didn't know I was this funny. XD
I can just imagine already the screaming of random people going BLOODY HELL ITS THE SILVER SHROUD RUN and then the fantasy ends because only like 5 people know who he is
I find it funnier that you can be full "Gun Batman", need to bail from the fight to go shopping, and everyone involved just accepts it and politely waits for you to come back.
@@Umbra_Ursus this is one of the best things I have ever read i can just imagine mid fight just switches into a different hat and is just like "alright boys ill be back to kill you later I've got to got to work down at the factory to buy some more ammo"
Honestly the finniest part of all of this, the fact that you witness the bombs going off, get frozen, wife shot, baby stolen, you go back to a comic shop you use to visit and then say "Yanno, fuck it, I'm going to become a comic book hero!" And then do so because it's the post-bomb fall and anythings on the table at this point
when you thing about it Hankcock this basicly Hankcock story exept he got high as fuck and woke up next to Hankcock suit and said fuck it i am Hankcock now
A little detail about Eleanor is that if you rescue the trapped dog near her home you get a permanent discount from her. That's not enough to really make a difference in this run, but it might make a difference in the future since she sells rare ammo in bulk.
@@exalted_space9224Never knew an Elanor OR a trapped dog appeared? Idk, the random events just stopped appearing in my Fallout 4 runs a few years back and I never really thought about it or cared that much. Gotta love Bethesda games.
Scrounger adds ammo to defeated enemies, giving a lot more .45 ammo, and other ammo to sell. It’s an underrated perk if doing a rapid fire / rare ammo build.
Ah, such a classic Fallout 4 challenge. I've seen several people do this before and even done it myself once. But I will happily watch your take on it too, I don't doubt it will be entertaining.
@@rustyjones7908 I don't blame you haha. Tbh I was doing it more for a fun roleplay thing than a proper challenge so I didn't restrict myself from using other guns completely.
Yea when I did it I got the spray n pray and put the mods onto the gun so I didn't need crafting perks. Grognak was a standard melee build with Cait as a companion so he didn't need lockpick. Mantaman was submariner outfit with harpoon gun. The one character I couldn't do was The Inspector as the closest equivalent to magic in Fallout 4 is the syringer, which is better used as a bludgeon than as a gun.
I do believe that if you place a cow feeder trough thing in a settlement, you’ll get a daily amount of fertilizer from them in the settlement inventory. Then you can get a settler to scavenge, that typically nets you a decent amount of steel. Dump both into the ammo machine and have a daily allotment for basically free.
I think it's sane enough for you to have invested into the Iron Fists perk to punch things when you're out of ammo. In one of the Silver Shroud episodes, SS. does indeed use his fists to fight.
Knowing you listened to the radio dramas to confirm that the mechanist died when in a confrontation with the shroud shows you’re super dedicated. Cheers. Great video like always.
In my experience playing as the Silver Shroud, you want to find a way to either improve your defenses, or have enough healing to mitigate the damage. The armor ain't great and outdamaging ain't easy either. considering you also spend a lot of ammo with a weak weapon you'll want to increase damage too. because of that you'll need to invest in the right perks, like toughness and commando. the build can be decently strong but a bit costly at times
In addition to a mod that allowed me to swap legendary enhancements between weapons, my shroud playthrough was heavily focused on charisma for the various intimidation perks. Cutting down on the number of enemies was a huge help.
@@Rich-fr2yv yeah, when I did the Silver Shroud quests for the first time, I also used the Spray N' Pray instead of the Silver SMG. wayyy more effective and infinitely more fun
Just throw some jet in with your meds, and max out damage for the sub. That and I always look out for the crazy trader, she sell spray and pray, a submachine gun. Just really makes the silver shroud a contender, even into late game
I recently did that Mission and because I did it too early I was constanly running out of bullets, so to save Kent I had to use the rail gun, otherwise I couldn't do enough damage to stop his execution.
The funny thing is the Silver Shroud is based off of the Pulp character The Shadow. I would look it up and listen to the stories about him he's pretty freaking neat.
Nerbit you mad man I love you. I’m almost done w/ FO4 and I must’ve played through half the game wearing the Shroud costume with the Spray and Pray. Always happy to see an upload from you
I try to only work on them from 9-5 most days, obviously bigger challenges require more time and less sleep but I also enjoy doing these to the point where sometimes I don't even realise the time go by
8:14 "3 bullets is more than enough to kill anything that moves" Nice reference. The scarf and trench coat combo of the silver shroud outfit does seem pretty close to Revolver Ocelot's usual get-up
Nearlly every play through I do of Fallout 4 I complete the silver shroud quest line just because it’s so entertaining, and I love the costume. Definitely one of my most favourite Fo4 side quests.
The outfit and unique dialogue lines are my favorite parts of player content, it provides entertainment outside of combat which is not often the case for me.
I love it when you do ones involving dlc, it gives a nice change of environment! You should try doing something in the shivering isles or a challenge environment you haven't done before! It might help burnout ass well!
idk if he's done anything like this but I recently started a run where I coc'd into far harbor at level 1 and it's been a really interesting (and difficult) challenge. Bet a level 1 nuka world run would be interesting too
Power armor + silver shroud run. That was my first playthrough. Stay in the PA till the meeting face to face and then when the mechanist comes out, exit the PA, gives another set of shocked mechanist dialogue. Fun times
Some of my favourite builds are in-universe cosplay personas (Grognak, Silver Shroud, Mechanist, _et cetera),_ but even just limiting myself to specific armour types (leather or Synth, _et cetera)_ also adds significant fun, since I must build around that idea to maximise efficacy.
Honestly, seeing the entire fucking world end, getting forced into cryogenic stasis for over 200 years, and witnessing your wife get murdered in cold blood and your child abducted sounds like the origin story of a comic book character.
I seriously just was chilling in my room. Remembered it was Friday. Looked up your channel. And saw this was posted 1 minute ago. Amazing timing. Love the content man!
Just watched your "can you beat fallout 4 with the gama gun ?" Video and the biggest issue, as you said, were caps so there is an easy way to get some. Supervisor Brown at Graygarden takes all your mutfruits and gives you some caps. With this out of the way, continue like this, really love your challenges !!
Perhaps now this opens the door for a Can you beat Fallout 3 as Herbert 'Daring' Dashwood and his stalwart Ghoul Argyle? Although you might need Charon as a stand in for the latter.
Great video, as always. Can you beat FNV as Wolverine? Spiked knuckles as substitute for reasons. Adamantium Skeleton, animal friend, terrifying presence and the heal over time implant are a must.
Bebe, wake up, its Friday, Nerbit just uploaded One run I'd love to see you do would be a Skyrim Legendary run, but every time you die, you install a new mod. The goal is to beat the game before the game breaks/stops working.
I think being the Silver Shroud fits extremely well with the railroad and nick valentine quests and if you have shroud manor you get a 10mm silver shroud pistol and it also really lets you immerse yourself into the role you start feeling like Batman or something
A whole lot of real bad stuff has been happening recently and to be honest, you and the yellow cookingglove have quite possibly been the ones keeping me in this realm with your videos. Thank you for entertaining the lot of us mate. Seriously
Had an idea for a series of FO4 challenge runs. Basically the idea is that at character creation you pick 1 stat as your "focus". That one gets boosted to 10, and the rest evened out to 3 so they're equal. You can only buy perks that are in the tree that you chose as your focus stat. So for example if you picked strength, you set strength to 10 then set everything else to 3, and then can only buy perks in the strength category. You could then make a video for each stat, see what types of builds each one results in, and compare them to each other and which you had the most fun with
I remember when I tried doing the Silver Shroud quest. It was frustrating because it was glitched, as Kent would die the moment you entered the building every time. Reloading the save would have the same result. Enter building, get the failed notification.
the silver shroud sure is an intimidating person, im sure they would be able to intimidate anyone and make them work for the shroud. Sounds like a decent idea too, can you beat fallout 4 via intimation
Great video as always! I’ve been watching a lot of content about the early fallout games and I think a “can you beat fallout 4 as Frank Horrigan?” video would be awesome! Super high strength build focused on power armor unarmed and and big guns would be a fun watch!
If you’re ever in one of the longer Fallout 4 runs you could always get the plans for the Eyebots that get you ammo, unfortunately the plans are at the end of the Mechanist’s Lair, but there are several Jury Rigged versions of them out in the wasteland that you can encounter, but I’m sure it’s overall not worth it. Mainly because I think that it’d take even longer to go and get the ammo from the location that it gives you. I did just wanna mention in in the future if you ever needed it! Awesome work as always!!
After binging most of your videos and noticing FO4 was on sale, I actually did exactly this run my first playthrough the moment I stumbled upon the location.
In these outfit-restricted runs I definitely recommend grape mentats. They would make wheeling and dealing much more efficient. Oh! And cooked radscorpion gives +15 energy resistance. Definitely worth keeping on hand
Here's a tip,if you don't wanna waste bullets on the courser go to the nice ild lady and give her jet, that will allow you to get a deactivate code from her to shut him off when you speak to him (and there's also one with skinny malon with the same method)
It’s almost fitting in a strange way that this is this weeks challenge run. Sliver Shroud (I think) is a reference to DCs Grey Ghost. In Batman the animated series the Grey Ghost was Bruce’s idol. RIP Kevin Conroy.
Can you beat fallout 4 in 4 in-game days on survival. If need be its okay if you have to make it a week or 9 days. But no more. Time starts after you leave the vault. Choose whatever faction you want. You can eat, drink and sleep but you probably wont want to sleep. And only use a shotgun preferably a sawed off shotgun but I will allow a combat shotgun. Love the videos, look forward to them every Friday.
Just subscribed, thoroughly enjoy your content Nerbit, especially the Fallout 4 stuff and others from the Fallout series. Take care of yourself and God speed. Look forward to this mysterious long run. Run suggestion, can you beat Fallout 4 as a hunter with only hunting rifles and any rifles from the Content Creation Club that are for hunting? Twist is you have to only use meat from animals in the world to heal and when you see an animal you have to kill it.
It JUST hit me The video he took a week off to record that left him with 90ish hours of footage was that MGS video Nerbit, you spent 3 months editing that beast? Fucking respect. I'd have lost my mind
hey, nice one! i did this run on my own, as my first challenge run. i allowed myself to use any submachine gun, at the cost of only playing on very hard. i also did tons of ammo shopping, and entered the institute with 4000 rounds to mow down the whole place. now im doing a sigma male run. no clothes, no armor, no weapons, no stimpacks, radaway, chems, no aid aside from water, meat, and mysterious serum. 1 charisma and i must take every speech check. no stealth, no vats. i did consider using console commands to turn every npc into a man, as a real sigma male has never encountered a woman, but that began to break things. i just defeated the behemoth at fort strong at 30 hours in and level 36. the strategy im going with is to use animal cages to farm yao guai meat and radscorpion meat for the buffs they give. having a lot of fun just going around, failing speech checks, punching people until they drop their weapons, sticking the weapon in my undies, and beating them to death.
I like to add little Easter Eggs when I play a game like this. I named my Silver Shroud character Bret Morrison. One of the voice actors who portrayed The Shadow, the persona Silver Shroud is based off of.
It's weird... I was going to suggest this to you or try it myself. Idk why but i love the silver shroud quest they should've given it a whole DLC where you have to take down his rouges along side the female friend of his
As a side note for any future runs, it's worth going through the beginning parts of the Railroad questline, cause after you do one or two radiant quests for them, you unlock Ballistic Weave, which works on every under armor in game, and most outfits, including the Silver Shroud outfit, making it one of the most protective outfits late game. It does require ballistic weave and ranks in Armorer to get the big upgrades, but everything helps. It also doesn't go away if you decide to side with another group later on, so you can still absolutely kill the railroad after you get the one useful ability from them
I actually did something similar with one of those “skip intro” mods and a bunch of enemy gun randomizers mods thats still my favorite gaming experience 5 years later 😂 this hit deep you always have to roleplay in dialogue even tho it doesnt matter lol
When I did something like this, I allowed myself to purchase Spray n Pray from Cricket, and rename it the Silver Submachine Gun. It moderately reduced the amount of back-and-forth I had to do to vendors as the bonus explosive damage really shined through. Doubly so because I could put a point here and there into Demo Expert for even more boom in addition to Commando for bonus damage, leaving me with nearly respectable damage output by the time I got around to dealing with the tougher enemies on my list. I did, however, speak as the shroud to talk to the Mechanist down rather than engage in combat.
@@hayato1886 it does, actually. In fact, at the end of the quest (if he lives) Kent will say he'll upgrade the outfit later on (aka when you level up more), specifically mentioning ballistic weave. Chad Ken :)
Got an idea for another chase video. Can you beat Follout 4 while being chased by your terminator spouse? It's a mod that adds a NPC that looks like your spouse, who will hunt you down the moment you leave the Vault. I think a nice twist to the chase bit would if you're caught, the run isn't over. Now the objective is to try and escape and kill the terminator via Terminator 2. You can kill them with a direct hit with a mini nuke, but that wouldn't be as fun. You have to go to Saugus Ironworks and lead/knock them into the forge there to kill them. And if the terminator kills you, then the run is over.
For future times you use the ammunition Plant, i did that too on my first playthrough. Its been a while, but if im not mistaken, so long you give it enough materials to last for a while, if you add one of the containers to the production line, you can leave it be, go adventuring/shopping, then come back to the produced ammo. Thats how i dealt with my poor aim. This should really help with the boring standing around part, once you have gotten enough ammo to go away
I actually based a story for my english class on Mitten Squads video on the same challenge. Or i based the story on the mantle, giving him silver super powers, turning the people he guns down to silver. Got an A+ for that.
I've watch this video like 12 times because of auto play. I'm so glad you're voice is amazing because I either stay asleep, or wake up softly to watch a bit before going back to bed.
If you go to the third rail and talk to the Mr. handy, you can actually start a quest where you’ll be fighting triggermen for Hancock and there’s a bunch of triggermen
Great video as always but I was watching another challenge video and thought it could be fun for you to not fail a run after failing it, like the fable with skill points instead of just counting it as failed you could have a wheel of punishments and if you trigger the wheel three times the run is over, could be fun or just weird punishments like in a weapon restricted run you have to drop half your current ammo or just raising the difficulty just a thought I had that could be fun can even hold a vote for what kind of punishments the run would have.
I knew about the Silver Shroud and the hammy dialogue choices that'll pop up if you have it equipped but I was not aware at all that there was an actual questline associated with that buffed the outfit like that. That's rather cool, I'll have to give it a go in another playthrough sooner or later.
There is also Dialog for Nuka World as The Shroud, When facing off with the tin man (x-boss), and when you go to Dry Rock Gulch, and even facing off with the ghoul in Kiddy Kingdom. Would of been fun additions to this video. Also, you can modify the armor yourself. I found that if you modify it, it has better stats than the radio speaker's replacements. The hybrid weave armor upgrade, where it adds all resistances is what I do with mine as soon as I am able. Also the level 25 and 45/100 upgrades from the speaker, can't be modified, and makes it worthless.
If you can't, then you should be able too; playing as the Silver Shroud was one of the highlights of Fallout IV for sure. Though as a melee focused build in my playthrough, the Silver Shroud's gear was of little benefit outside of coolness. I ended up using the Grognak costume instead. 1:21 - Crucial question; is this one of the names people will actually use? Could your partners refer to you as Silver Shroud? Missed opportunity if not. I do love the idea of making a balanced stat to reflect the "anyone could take up the Silver Shroud mantle" idea. 4:29 - I... wait, there aren't any children in that area? I never realised that. 8:27 - Metal Gear Deathclaw! You weren't expecting it and I wasn't expecting it; hilarious edit there. 11:08 - We shall dub Silver Shroud's new ability the Bethesda Blur; able to phase out objects and the world around him. If videos of Fallout IV are to prove accurate, seemingly every individual in the wasteland can achieve this super power. 15:54 - Well, I for one am convinced that you solved things peacefully on your 100th shopping trip for more bullets. This truly shows how amazing the Silver Shroud is; his comic adventures have him besting his foes with just the right amount of bullets each time. 20:38 - An yet those few unique lines of dialogue are a beautiful thing. Splendid video here!
Next time you do a run with the Silver Shroud, use the picket fences magazine in Saugus iron works to build copper statues to help you level up faster, and therefore get the armor upgrades sooner. Plus the Shroud used his fist in the radio to fight off some robots so unarmed would be allowed.
Can you beat Fallout 4 as the Doom Slayer? Power Armour, fists, chainsaw, double barrel shotgun and laser rifle. You must complete any major quest involving the murder of irradiated monsters.
Yes it finally happened! Now this will be very much good knowing your videos Nerbit, hope you have a nice day! (Oh and can you please do Skyrim with only Weaponized Junk.)
I liked my run as the Silver Shroud. However, I named him Lamont Cranston because the Shadow is the idea behind the Shroud. I did eventually mod the game because I wanted not only the Shroud Manor CC DLC but the Shroud Lair Mod as well.
When you had the instant death load at the comic shop it brought back memories from when I had the same problem at diamond City. When I went on a genocide run I loaded out of the building and immediately was annihilated
The part at the end when you "had the virtabird sound" thats a known bug in fallout 4. Nothing to do with virtabirds though. Sounds can get stuck on loop on objects. Usually NPC's. But sometimes other objects too. Most common is getting a companion stuck with a workbench sound stuck on them. The armor workbench sewing machine sound. My first playthrough i had to send piper to outpost zimonja as nobody knew online how to fix it at that time. Usually a companion can get stuck with the sound if you fast travel when they are using something that makes noise. If its a random raider you just leave and the raider will despawn eventually. If its a companion, you have to make them do whatever caused the sound in the first place. So if its a workbench sound, make them use it again and wip out your weapon to make them end the animation. To avoid the bug make a habit of wiping out your weapon before fast travel. One playthrough i had a weapon sound on loop stuck on that wrecked car in-between sanctuary and red rocket. Just a burnt out car making a clicking reload sound or something.
When I do a silver shroud run I generally trade in the silver smg for an explosive one. But I have to give full credit to Nerbit for sticking with the Lore gun. OTOH, The Silver Shroud would not brutally murder the Railroad for no reason.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that the one minutemen guy who helps you take the Castle sounds like Joey From Yu Gi Oh, for that one instance & never sounds like that after, truly next level voice acting here - 12:28
Idea: beating New Vegas with only a bumper sword. My thinking is you'd have to rush to Come Fly With Me and find some way to get ahold of Davison's sword while pacifist-running, unless you're able to find one sooner.
Near vault 3 is a building where you can just take bumper sword there is a ton of fiends and if i remember correctly some kind of named fiend but you just run past them and take it
I found running a stealth build as the Shroud was much easier, just because you're squishy without real armor and also because stealth crits save a TON of ammo. The Silver Submachinegun isn't the best with a suppressor on it, but with enough perception points you can manage okay with the help of VATS. I also think a neat part of the run would be the Shroud being so anti-drug that he takes any chems he finds and throws them into somewhere they'd get destroyed.
I do believe that the Silver Shroud is, in fact, Nick Valentine. This can be deduced by clothes and how weathered they are. The weathering to his body and clothes could be caused by how long he's been exposed to the elements. This is only a simple theory
