Well done buddy! I'm not gonna lie I've kind of thought of doing a gun only run similar to this myself. But then decided to torture myself with the doing nothing run. Honestly I was not expecting the nullifications so soon and thought this might have been possible, especially with Shinya's max rank perk later in the game.

I actually did this same challenge a few months ago and I have a possible loophole to keep in mind: If we're allowing the use of gun focused showtime attacks than wouldn't it be reasonable to use items that are technically "guns"? Say for instance the Stun Gun: Yeah, it doesn't do gun damage, but it is by definition classified as a "gun" along with the Air Cannon, if one were to say revise the name of the challenge to "Guns" (the quotations being used in the title), then the Stun Gun and Air Cannon would technically fall within those parameters. You can craft these two items as early as the first palace I think after securing the infiltration route which gives you time to craft them before mandatory fights against gun immune enemies. Materials can be gathered from certain enemies in mementos as well as bought in limited amounts per week as certain shops. So yeah, with the current rules it's mot doable. But if you allow the use of items with "gun" in the name, since you're allowing showtime attacks that do almighty damage so long as the attack comes from a "gun" it should be valid right? Also, heads up if you do retry the challenge with this in mind: Shinya's final ability only affects Joker, and only for his actual gun, meaning that gun attacks from your persona will still be blocked by gun immune enemies, and it'll be useless later in the game anyway since bosses have so much health that even with buffs/debuffs your gun wouldn't do enough damage before running out of ammo. Finally, I recommend completing Caroline and Justine's confidant since the last persona you need to create can be turned into an item which, when equipped to one of your allies, gives them a gun attack on their persona. I usually achieve this near the end of the 4th palace, allowing at least two other allies to use gun attacks with me (I only recommend making two since Haru joins the party next palace), combine that with buffs and debuffs for everyone just destroys cognitive Wakaba faster than the game can register (It also helps she's the only boss with a weakness to guns.) Give Ryuji and Yusuke these items and their high strength stat will be applied for the gun attacks, the 4th party member can focus on healing/buffing. I did this challenge on Normal, but if you allow the use of the craft able stun guns/air cannons as well as the items you can get from Seth in the Velvet Room, you'd have a much more doable challenge (If you follow this, I recommend making as many stun guns as possible since they're easier to make, increase your proficiency, and can actually stun enemies when used.)

I may have one suggestion if you ever get back to this. Showtime chance to occur is heavily influenced by Jokers HP. If you can get Endure to trigger, showtimes should immediately come up. That would be one way to confirm for certain if they aren't possible in that boss. At any rate, a fantastic attempt!

2:35 you can grind at the first safe room by saving and reloding to respawn the shadows. Edit: It still isn't possible for a long time of grinding. Also I dont know if gun is affected by your strength stat. But Arsen learns dream needle which makes it possible to beat eliegor.

I got stuck in the exact same place when I tried this same challenge run on Merciless difficulty. I THINK it might be possible to repeatedly reflect Ziongas back at him, but the odds of him using that skill are SUPER low. You could be sat for an entire DAY waiting for him to use the move enough times.

Yeah showtimes trigger strangely... At least by what the wiki says, It can trigger when: A party member obtains a Baton Pass, loses 50% of their health or lower, faints recovers from a status ailment, Down, or being knocked out, the protagonist is dying or Downed An enemy is Downed or critically injured and rarely, an enemy is afflicted with a status, a defense debuff, or a party member has an attack buff. It is strange that actually no one said anything about this checks working or not in boss battles. However this was actually fun to watch.

Im not sure if you tried this but if you did you didn’t mention it in the video so I’ll mention it anyway. Another way to trigger a showtime is if joker gets to really low health, it triggers as like a last resort type thing. I’m not 100% sure it works on boss fights but considering that’s where Joker’s hp is most likely to get the lowest I’d like to think it does.

Fun fact, you don't need to reload your save file to respawn enemies in palaces. Simply go to the safe room, fast travel to the entrance of the palace and back to the safe room.

There are 2 things you could've done that would've helped continue the challenge, First is broke the DLC rule and continued on even if it's just for this boss and later bosses, I believe they give you a item that triggered showtimes more often. Second is equip a persona that has weakness to the guards abilities or the bosses. It's risky because if they do enough it could kill Joker, BUT almost every time in my playthrough whenever Joker was downed it almost always triggered a Showtime.

Since gun-based showtimes are allowed, the only way I can see getting through the fight is to slightly bend the rules to Stun Guns, at least until the showtime triggers, but once the showtime triggers, you can't use the stun guns anymore and the fight must be finished with the showtime. Honestly, allowing the use of stun guns wouldn't be that much of a stretch since the gun based showtimes are allowed (most of which use guns in some way). The use of stun guns are only permitted in fights like Kaneshiro, the triple Rangdas and Shido phase 1 while still providing the challenge sought after for the rest of the playthrough.

I was actually thinking of doing this myself when I saw this, saying you can get past Kaneshiro with freeze, shouldn't you be able to get Shinya 10 for Shido? One problem I can see though is Okumura's fight since you have to essentially kill everything in one turn by yourself and the only way, I can think of is over leveling, which I want to avoid.
