@@mcrsit without jumping sure, bit without the A button at all seems impossible. Atleast without jumping, you can roll into the paintings. But you roll by diving then pressing A. Still an intresting idea
All you need to do is perform a superjump, go into first person mode, mash X, dislocate your left thumb to press A at the same time, sacrifice the neighbours first born and make a special Christmas wish in order for Rayman to just tickle the edge of the platform…
@@RowanChill I think I found a trick to fix that. If you step on a Lego with your right foot at 3 pm during the mashing X part and hit the left trigger about 2-4 frames after your foot touches the floor, it should bypass the Steven Clause all together and allow you to use any spelling, though I’m not sure if it works on all versions of the game.
I have an alternate solution first do a failed superjump to go under the waters surface, Mash Y, press B as your about to get hit by the hoodlum, break your knuckles to press A and X at the same time, kick the R shoulder buttion with your left leg while your upsidedown, eat your neighbours wife and hold a bowl of Sake (you must hold the bowl for the entire duration or else you will get softlocked) while Drunk in order for rayman to bypass the area completely..
'The copter power up is my favourite!' 'You mean the glide walk power up?' '...what?' Gotta love the speedrunning / glitching lexicon we get from these videos
Personally, I like to think that the no hovering bit of the challenge comes from Rayman's normal hovering animation, while the "no yellow powerup" rule is more of a bonus challenge.
OK, I just finished and my god man, this is probably one of those most insane challenge runs ever posted to RU-vid. HUGE RESPECT. that flying power up section and the boss rock section is pure wizardry. It was worth it mate, this is legendary lol
These runs are brilliant and this is one of the best. Your narration is great as well and really frames how each situation is a puzzle, how you approached and solved it, and the catharsis of success. Seriously, this is what gaming is about at an ontological level.
Thank you for your insane amount of patience and your awesome content, this was truly majestic to see my favourite game finished without a single hover (I exclude the leptys one as there is no propelling)
Your challenge runs are the best I've seen, man. The amount of work you put into these is mindblowing, and the results speak for themselves. The massive super jumps you pulled off here are amazing!
I guessed 2 hovers. I've seen challenge runs of Rayman 3 before, but the Gamecube version looks absolutely insane. You must have the patience of a champion to finish this run.
You must have the patience of a Buddhist monk. I could never sit there trying to nail a super precise jump for 6 hours. I definitely would give up after the first 30 minutes. 🤣 Love this channel. Keep up the great work!
GGs! To be honest, I was expecting we were gonna need at least two hovers if not three! So this end result surpassed my expectations for sure. But my favourite part of this definitely has to be the turtle stacking in the Land of the Livid Dead. From now on I'm just gonna carry two turtles with me everywhere I go in case I need to reach a high ledge someday
Before watching i thought youd just use the same glitch for everything, but the variety of tricks genuinely surprised me. That part where you forced the hoodlum out of the cutscene is just brilliant. Awesome Video
Man, some of these glitches and strategies are so specific and obscure it is hard to believe anyone could figure this stuff out. Fascinating and entertaining.
Omg i cant believe how comitted you are to this series and in how much detail you can explain these glitches. Your videos really are like events to me and i love to see them. Not a lot of challenge runner put that much effort into their videos. I just love your videos. PS: i dont think that super jump glide walk combination was against your rules since as you said there was no hair animation involved even if it would trigger it would be the helicopter so that would again be a gray area so i think you are in the clear.
30:10 I don't think it's this one in particular, each color of power-up has its own timer, ranging from 3 seconds for the yellow one to 49 seconds for the blue one. But nitpicking aside, I'm once again impressed by the creativity of the use of R3's various glitches. I legit expected about 10 forced hovers, but I'm pleasantly surprised to see that I was way off!
Love the videos! I think you are one of the only channels I have notifs on haha. Also as someone who has NEVER played Rayman, I’m guessing it’s gonna take a solid 2 spins.
I thought it had to be 2. The tower and just a random one I couldnt guess... but you passed the tower! I expected you to not even consider the swimming hairspin to be out of limits, but you even went out of your way to skip that. You damn well did complete the challenge!
Im pretty sure that in the last part with the glide walk, the reason why the copter never goes out is because the game only uses the helicopter animation when you're going up, as it has no animation for actually hovering, until it switches back to normal rayman, who does have the hover animation!
If we go into camera mode, hold down the button to go into first person mode, quickly exit and reenter camera mode, and then mash the first person mode button, we can almost make it, but we're just short. However, if we use an extended superjump and combo it into a glide walk, then wiggle against the wall while performing a bounce, roll into the level geometry to get some extra height in order to hit a blue powerup, and then use the powerup to perform a reverse double hookjump, we can just barely reach and press the subscribe button.
a challenge video where the person ACTUALLY tries to do the challenge no stupid jokes, the guy doesnt give up at the minimum problem that isnt colved after 30 minutes of trying, doesnt use very stupid "ok this is TECHNICALLY not hovering, so im going to use it every level!" logic really a good one
My guess was 5. There wasn't any particular reason, but considering Rayman 2's results, I thought it best to go for a low number. I was not expecting what actually happened. I don't consider the Tower of Leptys to be a hover. As you said, the hair/helicopter doesn't spin, therefore no hover occurs. I've used similar semantics when attempting challenge runs. In Jak 3, I was attempting to complete every mission without guns. There is a tutorial between missions that requires you to fire one, otherwise you can't leave the room. This gun, however, can be charged. The more ammo spent on the charge, the more powerful the shot. By pausing the game during the charge, you can save and load the file before firing the gun. Upon reloading, the ammo is still lost, but the tutorial is over without firing the gun. I feel these are similar scenarios.
One of the first games I recall playing (ironically all the 3rd entry in their respective series). Ahh, the good 'ol days. Keep it up man. My guess is 2 and my hopes are high
I wouldn’t have even considered the yellow power up as part of hovering and more of a flying power up and not even part of his hair so kudos to you for not using it and making it harder for yourself lol.
If only there was a way to determine the duration of a hover like there was in yhe spyro runs, then we'd know for sure if the tower was a rule break or not. That being said this is still crazy impressive.
My guess, as a developer, as to what ledges are the best for super-jumping is probably ones that are at a right angle relative to global coordinates in the level
I mean, earlier I would've accepted the copter as not gliding to begin with. So not triggering the animation in the Tower is doubly not a hair-spin. But it's all semantics I suppose. Well done, NGPlus!
Fun Fact, the PS Vita port of Rayman Origins actually gives us a story on the origin of Rayman's hair. Apparently each strand of hair is it's each individual tiny being. I can only assume that to make his hair spin, the creatures just run in circles on his scalp.
@@NGPlusVideosbest I can find is the Vita has secret collectables that require the touch screen that other ports don't have, however the post talking about them says they don't have any use to them so I assume they aren't lore files
Rayman 3 was the only Rayman I got to play. So it's nice to see it again. However I don't remember half of the game for some reason. I did complete it, but I guess when I kept replaying it I only got up to the areas at 20:00 and probably stopped playing there.
Man, I'd thought you'd never want to do any hover challenge after that one lava world in Rayman 2 but you seem to be getting some kind of sick satisfaction of those kind of challenges...or you just wanted to complete the Rayman and Spyro triologies.... or you're just out of ideas of other kinds of challenges (don't really believa that ;))... Really enjoy all of your content, hope for a different genre next time, your FFIX video is my favorite one ;)
I feel like whilst people seem to, rightfully, appreciate Rahman 1 these days, 2 and 3 remain criminally underrated. Just really solid 3D platformers that came right at the end of the genres hayday, and incredibly unique art direction to boot.
Globox: "Gee Rayman, what are you doing with a jetpack?" Rayman "I am doing a challenge Globox to not use my hair to glide on my next adventure." Developers: "Rayman 3 average clear time 5 hours. Wait why do you have 6 hours on just one level?" NGPlus "It was a difficult level to clear."
Never thought about how Rayman's hair doesn't tangle up, I was too busy wondering the same thing about Tails' tails. Does his spine also rotate? Are they cyborg tails?
Can you beat Spiderman 2 as Peter Parker? Yeah there is a glitch that let's you roam free without the suit, although you won't get it at the start of the game sadly...
I have no idea how I missed this upload - I wonder if Rayman 1 is possible now... I doubt it since there's a forced flying section in one level, but you never know! ;)
You resident nitpicker here. Yeah, that one thing (I think it was glide walk or something?) is a bit of a stretch but if you need to you need to. Whether someone considers the challenge a failure or not really doesn't matter at the end of the day, it's a semantics issue and you did the best you could. minhover% is still cool too :P
@@NGPlusVideos that's honestly impressive, i dont have near that level of work ethic. On the topic of challenges your no clank runs inspired me to try my own, I find it fascinating to try and play games without key/story items (eg: dark souls, pokemon, the zelda series, japanese games tend to be best for this) You would be amazed how simple things like getting through a door or having immunity to a specific attack type comes into play without realising it
ohh, the gamecube rayman, sadly i never got to play it, but now i want to, btw. are gamecube game challenges are on the table? If yes, a ocarina of time challenge would be interesting, if not, i have 2 ideas for final fantasy 9, a lvl 1 challenge, where all permanent party members have to stay at lvl 1 the whole game, im doing this atm. and its quite a lot of fun, or a get excalibur 2 challenge, i wonder if this is possible without learning the speedrun.
I'm gonna guess three minimum hovers. Not based on any kind of logical deduction, I never even beat this one, but because it would be delightfully homogeneous with it being the third game.
