If you'd like to support the show, things are a bit tight right now, and I'd very much appreciate any support on Patreon. Only if you're financially safe, please.
GameChamp, I unfortunately have to invalidate this run. It's "Can you beat Rockman 5 without getting hit," not "Can you beat Rockman 5 without taking damage." Even though it doesn't deal damage, you did get *hit* by the freeze ray. You gotta do it again. I agree that the cutscene "hit" is an illusion, however.
One thing I'm surprised you didn't mention about the cutscene is that in this game Mega Man loses his charged shot when he gets hit, and he clearly doesn't lose his charge when he takes the (fake) hit from Dark Man. Also Cure Black cameo ftw
Add that to the fact that fake Blues was Darkman who was Dr Wily, who has attempted to dent Rockman's metal several time and you have the greatest case ever!
i don't even need all the semantics to feel comfy calling that cutscene bs. cutscenes shouldn't be counted as player input and shouldn't be punished or considered for challenge runs!! pretty sure in her other series cutscenes aren't counted, so i'm not sure why such a fuss is made about it here.
oh, i didn't really understand that. people joke abt things that make a run invalid like that (which frustrates me bc i have issues figuring that those are jokes too and they kinda belittle the achievement) or sometimes they might just geniunely be annoying and not be joking abt hot they feel like it was done improperly
I can't wait for the Rockman 6 video to start with "Good morning everybody and welcome to VG Myths the online internet video game tv show already aware of your comments asking for Rockman 7"
Actually, since GameChamp prefers to play titles in relase order, wouldn't that mean that she would do Rockman X (December 1993) before Rockman 7 (March 1995)?
But this also means that she can never do a Mr. Perfect run of X1 thanks to Vile. I guess she'll have to resort to playing Maverick Hunter X instead if it ever comes to that.
Oh yeah also it’s possible to get killed by Vile if you don’t get hit by the Paralyze shot and just die from touching his ride armor cuz I had that happened in the intro stage
I felt like she was doing that one scene of Charlie Day at the pinboard in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia when she was explaining the Blues Damage Semantics
Going from thinking you failed a mission because you took damage in a dream to taking forced damage in front of everyone and *proving* it wasn't real is one of the greatest character arcs I've ever witnessed.
Oh hell yes! Fun fact: I just started replaying Megaman X. At the start my brain was like: "Can YOU beat Megaman X without taking damage?!" Vile: "No."
@@zixvirzjghamn737 Also, the X series in general is *way* harder than the original Megaman from a damage less point of view. Even if you ignore Vile the game is chock full of cheap shots and extremely precise encounters. I still hope GameChamp does it, though!!
31:15 Excuse me, Ms. Gamerchamp, but if you’ve ever read the manga for the Rockman series which is confirmed to be canon to the original games, we see multiple instances of Blues and Wily being in the *same room!* The Blues that we see simply cannot be Dr. Wily! It’s impossible! *CLEARLY,* the Dr. Wily we see in Rockman 5 is the evil alien robotic zombie *CLONE* of Blues who was created from the remains of the original Dr. Wily after his demise in Rockman 3. Unbeknownst to Blues, Kalinka had secretly linked Blues to the Necronomicon’s ritual to resurrect Dr. Wily, fusing Wily’s makeup with a portion of Blues’s! The real Blues would never betray us! This Blues taking the form of Dr. Wily is merely some *fake clone!* Your theory of Blues and Dr. Wily being one and the same is understandable at first glance, but with proper reading, is demonstrably and semantically untrue!
@@Gamechamp3000It legit made my day to see that you saw this, thank you lmao The “manga” I was referring to was the friggin’ Archie comics lol, I don’t even know if Rockman has an actual manga
the pedantic (praise) ways you get out of stuff like the forced damage feels so “anime twist where it feels hopeless but the protagonists triumphantly pull through somehow” and i love it a lot
(Vi) It’s official, my favourite part of Gamechamp’s videos is when she goes on an unnecessarily long technicality rant about how she didn’t lose the challenge despite looking like it because of some random quirk in the game no one minds :p
It's even better when combined with the main theme of the game so it feels like she's a Yu-Gi-Oh character explaining her game winning combo to an absolutely gobsmacked villain.
average amateur VG Challenger: Yeah we get hit in the cutscene but cutscenes don't count God Gamer Gamechamp-san: I can prove that I am absolutely *not* Getting Hit™
Patreon names keep getting better. The Oompa-Loompa song, the person who genuinely trolled me into thinking the video was over. I do still miss the person who "corrected" Miss Gamechamp with the "Japanese" name of whatever she played that video, and of course I want to see what happened to the world's slowest game of chess.
@@ChrisHinners008 I guess "Well played" was kind of confusing a phrase to use, I just think it's a neat detail that the person making the video decided to leave the "bathroom break" in the middle of the video giving it even spacing.
@@takiyeet6946 no I didn't mean that. I was confused how we could only be halfway through the video while we're at the END OF THE GAME. That was until I saw the Wily Stages.
@sharktenko267 they tried to deal a hit during the cutscene, but the shot is clearly scripted to not do damage, just set RockMan's HP to 1, and play most of the hit animation, but not all of it. Additionally, since the L tank is collected during the cutscene, the "hit" was reverted back to normal in such a way that nothing would change without said cutscene. As she put it herself, SMOKE! AND! MIRRORS! It's like the Pokemon damageless run where she had to ask chat if stepping on an in-game tack on the floor during a dream counted as damage, but the game is the one dreaming this time
@@segadoeswhatnintendont yeah but also she's already skipped the first two Rockman world games, and she'd be skipping 3 and 4 if she went straight from rockman 5 to rockman 6
@@faultyvideos2215The second of which is very crucial to the Mega Man timeline as a whole, quite literally. Dr. Wily steals a Time Machine to spy on Mega Man’s future. Wily finds his future self retired from evil-doing and Mega Man converted into a household robot due to Wily no longer being a threat to world peace. Not liking this future, Dr. Wily talks his future self into abducting the Future Mega Man to modify him into a battle robot named Quint and fight the present day Mega Man. These actions made that peaceful future no longer attainable because Wily showed himself willing to rage war against Dr. Light for decades longer than previously predicted. The concept of advanced robots get forgotten about by everyone except Dr. Light & Dr. Wily for at least a century. Dr. Cain discovers X and replicates his advanced AI as best as he could for a new race of robots called “Reploids”. Dr. Wily’s ultimate robot warrior, Zero, awakens and a fight between him and the most advanced Reploid ever, Sigma, unleashes the Maverick Virus to continue Dr. Wily’s feud with Dr. Light from beyond the grave. In short: No Mega Man World II, No Mega Man X.
30:10 I can't believe Dark Man used his Domain Expansion: [Perfect Shot] to fool us into believing we were in any danger at all. Once again, Miss Champ proves she is the strongest. She is *her*
I thought this video felt a lot less stressful than the other rockman videos, than I saw the death counter at the end and realized you were just gaming. Fantastic work!
I always find it funny how she describes all these like a tutorial. "When you reach this room, make sure to charge your buster to take out the enemy" As if anyone else is gonna do this shit after watching you struggle through Rockman damageless.
actually, something I noticed is that at 26:45 when you described why the fake Blues (or Protoman) hitting you didn't count as a hit, I noticed 2 things 1: the footage you showed of Rockman (or Megaman) getting hit, showed him getting hit when not in a corner but in an open area. I quickly played the game and got hit in the corner and he didn't move 2: in the same footage that showed you getting hit by the fake Blues, you were charging the mega buster. CHARGING. And last I checked, you lose the charge when you get hit, and you didn't lose your charge when Blues hit you, so there's more evidence that it doesn't count as a hit. other then that, this was a good video!
Fun fact about Crystal Man: He only uses the bouncing projectiles when you're far away from him. So after the first time at the beginning of the battle, you can stop him from using it again by staying up close and sliding under his jumps.
I really love how she refused to acknowledge the others Blues presence during the getting hit cutscene during the entire tanget just to end with Wily being Megaman's actual brother. Stuff like this is why i love this channel, lol
It's painfully obvious the other Blues was a clone made by the brilliant robotic alien zombie scientist Dr. Blues Wily, that's why she never mentioned it.
Having never played Megaman or Rockman, I thought Dr. Wily was an alien who died in the third game until Gamechamp's fourth no-damage run was posted. The Necronomicon thing spurred me to read a wiki and figure out whether Gamechamp was telling the truth about a game whose cutscenes are written in a language most of her audience (including herself) can't read.
Fun fact: If you pause on the final boss and leave it on all night, Alien Zombie Blues Wily starts talking about how he's mad at Megaman and eventually discovers he's in a video game, then he jumps out of the screen. You can make Rockman do this as well by unpausing, but he's guaranteed to take damage from jumping out of the screen, so I don't recommend it.
The way I got so excited because I love this series and went "Oh wow, it hasn't been that long since the last one. I wonder-" I proceed to check and the last one was a year ago 💀 Not complaining, I just have go concept of time LMAO
I have lost interest in most challenge youtubers, but there is something special about Gamechamp that makes me always excited to watch another one of her videos
It’s the semantic parts of the video. What other challenge runner would even try to prove that getting shot isn’t getting shot instead of just saying “cutscenes don’t count.”
29:49 I think the knuckles video was a warm up to get us ready for this level of pedantry. Great video btw, that trivia in the cutscene is crazy to witness
Not quite Capcom, but Igarashi said that when making Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the rule for shipping bosses was that a boss only was ready if the designer making it could perfect them armed with a dagger. Basically ensuring that there wouldn't be any "cheap" hits that were unavoidable. It wouldn't shock me if a similar rule was in place in earlier productions as well as a bit of wisdom to pass around, not just old Konami.
Esteemed colleagues, I present myself as an engineer, a profession dedicated to the resolution of practical challenges. My expertise lies not in philosophical contemplations, such as the elusive nature of beauty, but in the realm of tangible problem-solving. Consider a scenario where a formidable adversary threatens to inflict significant structural damage upon my person. In such a circumstance, I propose a straightforward solution: the utilization of a firearm. Should this initial measure prove insufficient, the escalation to a more potent firearm is warranted. I trust this concise explanation adequately conveys my approach to problem-solving. Thank you for your attention.
I sure do love engaging with Ms. Gamechamp's videos so that the algorithm will recommend it to more people. And as a person with financial stability that enjoys her content, I also love supporting her on Patreon.
This has always been my favorite game of the NES games. I've put so much time into this game and have never even tried this kind of challenge, so hats off to you.
As the guy who changed his patreon name to the oompa loompa thing, I wasn't sure if Gamechamp would actually sing it or just say it, but I definitely was not expecting her to continue singing more of the names on the list afterwards! Got a good laugh out of me, that did.
I literally _JUST_ completed my first play-through of Rockman 5 and was seeking out the Rockman 4 video for some residual catharsis. The Gamechamp challenge run distribution system has smiled upon me this day
Most challenge runners: yeah im not counting the unavoidable cutscene where u get hit because its unavoidable Gamerchamp: SO I EDITED THE RAM IN A EMULATOR FOR TESTING PURPOSES AND YOU DONT ACTUALLY TECHNICALLY GET HIT
Miss Gamechamp going on a rant about a hit being categorically not a hit according to the games own mechanics it's the semantics and tomfoolery i've come to know and love from this show
I love how Miss Gamechamp waits just long enough to make people hype when she releases but not so long that you forget about her. She’s ever present in the back of your mind, but only rarely makes that presence known, like a sleep paralysis demon who’s bad at video games.
25:54 Remember folks, "Damage shenanigans" via cutscene (which it wasn't. It was a means to reduce HP to 1 which when you think about it is redundant since we're already treating Rock man as if he had 1 HP already) is Not equal to damage in via gameplay. It's effectively Mario Odyssey without Jumping all over again. Blues just made this No damage run unintentionally official in-universe from this point in the game. This level of semantic waxing is why I love this legend!
My goodness lady gamerchamp, rules-lawyering yourself into AND out of a mission failed. This is the label of immaculate quality I have come to anticipate.
I really enjoy how Miss Champ's consistent tone about the relative importance of things left me genuinely surprised that collecting all those letters did something other than, like, turning Rockman silver for a silly bonus
I've watched so many of your videos and at this stage. I'm more interested in the absolute "NUH UH YOU DIDN'T HIT ME FUCK YOU" Energy more than the gameplay (which is still massively impressive) But god, The amount of "I did all this to prove I'm still good" Just scratches the brain so good cos you know there will be people still complaining.
The total latte count is now 41 (including 1 small, 1 to-go, 1 large, 5 implied, 1 awaiting the heat death of the universe, 1 for Wire fans and 1 that Eddie bought for you). Following along with all videos would now cost you $145.80 at Starbucks. Everyone make sure to say thank you to Eddie for buying you a latte. Another great video! I loved the semantics overload about the hit-that-wasn't. With all these perfect Rockman runs, people might start accusing you of being good at video games...
What I find even funnier is that she doesn't even go over the semantics of getting hit while frozen in the crash dash animation less than a minute before
33:31 I've heard that The AVGN humself got to one of the final bosses but there was a glirch that happened somehow. So technically, it happened on tape. True story.
Ms Champ is so nice, after all this time, still pretends that I’m going to attempt her wild challenges. Thank you for believing in me, even when I don’t
Gamechamp could've just said "oh no the cutscene hit doesn't count". But NO. It was proven by looking into the game's code and viewing it in light of actual gameplay mechanics. That's dedication.
