Enemy: "We have heavily fortified this position. Old technologies and inflexible zerg strains will never break it!" Mutalisks: "So, anyway, we flew around it."
Vikings: literally made by the Dominion in response to countering mutalisk fly-by tactics. Also Vikings: are barely used by the Dominion and thus allow mutalisks to meme all over the Dominion.
That's actually pretty common mistake for even the pro players when they order some units from larvae and bind all of them to the control group. However, if you don't have enough resources or free supply, the larva isn't morphed, and is then attack-moved together with the army, which results in a newborn accidental Swarm Host. BTW, Zerg players also use these buttons: S,D,R,F2,F10,Q
@@deathrayman8074 pretty sure that he says that kerrigan found him on char it's the conversation on char/kaldir. He says he was just useless before she gave him a point in life
@@mystikk3025 Another one of the conversations is where Kerrigan looks into Abathur's mind to see why she hates him. Then she discovers that he was the one to make the Queen of Blades. And, for that conversation where he says he had no point in life, I believe that was because Kerrigan was turned human and he didn't have a master, turned feral, and thus no purpose.
@@deathrayman8074 nah because it's specified that he was already on the Leviathan and he says that she found him on char so this is not true. She found him in SC 1 before bw but in the First great war
Defiler: the most objectively overpowered super spellcaster that deletes enemy armies and makes your own armies nearly invincible with near-infinite energy fueled by eating dirt-cheap zerglings. Kerrigan: "lol let's discontinue this strain for 2 other spellcaster strains that are all worse in every way even if they both combined." Defiler: "...but why?"
Today i start a new challenge called "Off meta" (Im playing wing of liberty cuz i think is impossible in other campains (Also i didn't buy other campains lmao)) You must to play only with units that doesn't appear in the PVP No marines, No medivacs, no Vikings. Obviously the first 3 misions you have to play with mariens but after that you cant cuz you unlock firebat. Units blocked: Marines (No Merc) Marauder (No Merc) Reaper Ghost Hellion Tanks (No Merc) Thor (No Merc) Medivacs Vikings (No Merc) Banshes Raven BattleCruisers (No Merc) The rest of units are avaliable, obviously VCE are avaliable. I love your content, i mean, its like giant grant games, but with other challenges that are super cool. and you are cool bro.
Good news is Legacy of the Void gives you much better leeway. Just never selection a Zealot, DT, or Carrier faction and choose Dragoons, Corsairs, Reavers, and Arbiters. Heck, you have your pick between High Templar and Dark Archons! Rip immortals and sentries though :p
I'd argue using spore and spine crawlers would be alright on the condition that, once planted, you never ever move them(if you even could, yet to play SC2, admitedly). Since they're direct analogs to the sunken and spore colonies from SC1
So I was thinking over LoV with only Starcraft 1 units and I'm split. On the one hand, you could use almost everything except Immortals and Sentries. Dragoons, Corsairs, Arbiters, Carriers, Reavers, Dark Templar, High Templar/Archons. You could even use base Zealots so long as you don't make a selection (I tested that). But, you couldn't ever use Immortals, Sentries, or any of the Spear of Adun's systems (even passives). Also you definitely can't do the first mission without the Immortals, Stalkers, and Colossi. And at least the Colossi mission would force you to use them at the very start. Otherwise, I'd call it a doable thing. But idk how hard it'd be.
For the first mission, just use one of GiantGrantGames's strategies: if the enemies are too overwhelming, bring them back to the starting Mothership and Photon Cannons.
@@deathrayman8074 Yeah. Then I learned it doesn't work for 2nd either. The second part (reaching the other base) doesn't end until you kill the Scouts.
Missed an opportunity on Hand Of Darkness. Could've done a flashback to your Char and Dominion Space "Now Kiss" cutscenes, then repeated it with Mengsk and a Hybrid.
3:30 I thought you were running the game at the lowest settings as a joke. For some reason, this makes everything way more funny. You are a true legend. :D
Blizzard recommends playing Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm with an NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 650 or AMD Radeon™ HD 7790 or better. But those cards didn't exist at the time of the original games.
You did a good job making these runs different from the marines/zerglings-only challenge runs - taking away abilities and upgrades changes things up quite a bit. Looking forward to LotV.
I remember back in 2015 when I revisited Starcraft - the original, plus Brood War, my computer can't handle new games - and played it to death. Well, eventually I wanted to see how many missions I could beat using only Zerglings. The result? Every single one. Though to be fair some were REALLY hard. It was a fun challenge.
I love your style just like many other challenge runs, and in my opinion it may help to use less of the messy themes for everything, and I forgot to start up on the WOL brutal since semesters are a thing haha! Nice job tho on the Kaldar Boss fight of the century lol
There's no way to trigger Scourge nests without creep tumors. It literally says on the structure. And I did use hatcheries to spread creep in Domination and The Crucible.
Mengsk is an amoral monster. He will rule this sector, or see it burnt to ashes around him, and nothing will get in his way - not Pie's challenge, or the original games, or anyone!
im pretty sure he gets to use every uni- No whirlwind zealot No shadow fury DT No sentry No rays No repair drone carrier No phoenix No immortal Also no spear of adun
Mission 1 will be a nightmare... Also, to my knowledge, I believe I have all the possible units he can use here: Unupgraded zealots Dragoons High Templar (shield restore storm from the upgrade might cause some issues though, but the base should be fine (EDIT: Archons are cool too)) Dark Archons (slightly different abilities again could be problematic) Dark Templar (good upgraded or not, but base is also fine) Corsairs Reavers Arbiters Unupgraded Carriers Some pretty good units in here, others not so much.
He can turn off autocast which should open up most the roster. Dragoon should be open, DT as well(with autocast off) Corsair If you can turn off autocast it should work.
Easier to just not select a unit from the Forge, as they're still technically new units. The medivac is just the dropshop, but he can turn off the healing beam. But, he didn't.
HotS was the first campaign i managed to beat on brutal. WoL was the last one. I couldn't imagine doing WoL with those restrictions on brutal, but i could try HotS... Mh... Though i just remembered i can't use the evolutions...
@@gimmethegepgun yeah but i thought only if you did skygear first or am i wrong? Cause i did a brutal run hots some time ago and i saved skygear for last cause i suck at this game and i am pretty sure i had no investors or ultras
Didn't he say he redid the footage? If he played from the master archives, he gets every possible upgrade that mission could get, and since you could go to Skygier before Dominion Space (and therefore get ultras), he gets them here.
Absolutely nothing. My laptop is perfectly capable of running Starcraft 2 at it's highest graphics. It's not like it's a complete potato that dies at any setting higher than low.
LotV has zealots if you don't push a button, dragoons, reavers, carriers (if you don't push the button), arbiters, corsairs, DTs (if you don't push the button), HTs, photon cannons, shield batteries, and Artanis. You're probably able to do it
Now I gotta ask, why 420 subscribers? Also now I'm gonna play this challenge too, won't upload it to YT tho, this is his achievement Edit: Bro I wish I could edit videos now damn :/
I enjoy the vids and the personality you bring to them. but I am curious, what were you playing the game on back then? a potato? lol SC2 is pretty easy to run, but you have low-res textures and massive framerate drops. I'm guessing you hacked an ATM in the mall to run the game on haha. Anyway keep up the good work making interesting and stylish videos.
Ahh. Well here's hoping you can upgrade to one of those 4 slice at a time smeg models with crumpet settings and bluetooth controls one day, id be interested to see what you make with all that extra power.
if you have good internet you can bypass the "performances" issue through streaming. Apparently I can't elaborate on how to do that exactly (youtube think i'm a spammer?) but you can use da internet. Excellent video btw.
Great challenge! Loved the video and am excited for LotV. I have a couple questions for it though: A) will you do prologue and epilogue? (I'm guessing no) and B) how will you handle the passive abilities from the Spear of Adun you're forced to take, like nexus overcharge, reconstitution beam, etc?
I will do the prologue and epilogue, even though the epilogue is whack. For passives that I can't turn off, I figure if I'm gonna be stuck with two abilities I don't wanna use, they may as well be ones that are somewhat useful. I need a break after Heart of the Swarm.
Yeah, I'm cool with waiting. This seemed like a particular nightmare honestly. Prologue I think might be pretty cool, if nothing else because nobody talks about it.
No, since she's primal zerg, which wasn't in the original games, she technically counts as a new unit. Under these rules, she can kill Mengsk. Kinda like a Gandalf the Grey vs Gandalf the White scenario. It's not like I completely forgot about the ending to HotS when writing the script to the WoL run.
Wasn't the idea that units with the same name can be used? By that logic similar units with different names but the same role/playstyle are also allowed.
If they weren't in Starcraft 1 or Brood War, they're sitting this run out. The exception being siege tanks and BCs. I mean, yeah they're technically different versions from the original ones but I also really wanted to use siege tanks and BCs. I'm not sure how well I'd fare in the later missions without tanks.
Spore Colonies were in the original games. It's for the same reason I can't use Spine Crawlers since the structure was the Sunken Colony in the original games. They were morphed from the creep colony using drones, whereas creep is spread in SC2 using creep tumors spawned by queens. Because of these differences, I decided not to use static defense (after getting hydras) and not to spread creep to make things more interesting.
@@PieisDaBest1 ah yes, raptors. but thats it - the rest isnt "necessary", but since one can use hydras and mutalisks obe should be fine (and you are), and technically kerrigan on a auto attack build since she was in sc1 :'D
You can actually do LotV without picking up any unit upgrades from the Star Forge and keeping their default state. IE Zealots will never upgrade into blendy bois until you pick that option, then you're locked into normal Zealots. Same goes for Spear of Adun, you can just not use it.
