odds calculation for 17:09. articuino freezing with 3 consecutive blizzards is 0.000343%, and if the ai choosing blizzard each time is a 1/4, then that sequence is 0.000005359375%. mutiple times less likely than encountering a full odds shiny...

I really like the Mightyena set, but I completed with Umbreon anyway, the other two the same with slight differences: ~Umbreon (F) @ Lum Berry, Synchronize 252Hp/170Def/88SpD, Careful Charm, Curse, Body Slam, Rest (Note: Charm is compatible with Curse by breeding with Smeargle) ~Absol (M) @ Leftovers, Pressure 244HP/12Def/252Spe, Jolly Substitute, Protect, Double Team, Baton Pass ~Tyranitar (M) @ Chesto Berry, Sand Stream 224HP/252Atk/32Spe, Adamant Dragon Dance, Earthquake, HP Rock, Rest -This team is a bit riskier, but attempts are way faster because Umbreon can also sweep. -Synchronize is amazing as it gives the opponent a taste of its own medicine. -Absol has Max IV Atk to potentially win a Struggle war -Ttar 32Spe to outspeed neutral base 115 at +2 -Notes and tough matchups: Curse: Keep Charm until it runs out of Curse PP Swords Dance: Body Slam hope paralysis, then PP stall Counter: Be patient and stall its PP out Roar: Set up only 2 Curses then Body Slam Ghost types: Be patient and PP stall and wait for Absol switch in Anabel 2: I fished for Body Slam para and got it, then sac Umbreon and PP stall to win

Sad I couldn't watch the win live, but at least I got to see the heartbreaking 1 HP loss to Latios.

I can feel that the last 3 are going to be painful, especially ghost who have very little to choose from, i really do wonder how Gengar/Missy/Clops or Banette are going to do it(presumably a clops/missy pp stall + banette swords dance sweep?)

ghost has pressure and dbond so super ez, but fight and ground. probably some aweful pp stall double team swampert into dd pubitar lol

Can opposing Pokémon really be shiny??? Or is that a mod?

Ok but seriously- how's he going to beat fighting types? We have Primeape, Machamp, the hitmons, Hariyama, Medicham, Poliwrath, Heracross, Blaziken, and Breloom. The specific issue that I am getting stuck on is that you don't have anyone that can switch into special attacks, so you presumably need to lead a mon with a bunch of spd investment who can deal with a lead special attacker. This is great, but what if they have 2, or 3? Your only support mon choices are hitmontop and breloom, which are great, but hitmontop has an awful learnset in gen 3 and breloom is relatively slow and relatively frail. The only thing that I can think of is max speed max attack on everything and pray to RNjesus, but in the battle tower that really doesn't seem viable. Can I get thoughts from smarter people on this? Let's do some theorycrafting
