I agree with the most things in this video however, I have been using a hard drive since the jump. Of course I take precautions I take care of my drives I have a storage case for them it is a bit time consuming but if you are serious about your craft then you should be careful at all times. Yes get quality cables, and make sure your drives are up to par with speed on the drive and on the computer. I have 3 replica back ups, you can never be to careful. Happy playing.

I will ONLY DJ from external drives. First- never run your OS and your music library from the same drive. If you do have a second internal drive and Your drive dies on you during an important event you’re dead in the water. However, if your external drives dies, you simple just have to swap it out for another external drive that is an exact clone. Your computer will recognize it as the same drive, so all of your playlists will still function. This also helps with syncing playlist between multiple computers. You can’t simply can’t do this with internal drives. Much easier with an external. In my opinion- use external drives and have a clone or two ready as backups.

Been dj-ing for years now from external WD passport drives hooked to a windows machine and denon mc7000 controller. Never had an issue.

Save yourself 7 mins. Yes external hd work. I've used one for nearly ten years no issues worth speaking of. Make sure you have a back up as you should have anyway, and back your back up up too. Much easier to move round different computers and set ups.

Question. I have all my music on my external roughly about 1Tb, is there a way to save my crates on serato. Seems like every-time I exit the program I have to recreate my crates by dragging the folders from my external.

I disagree. I think External Hard drives is the way to go especially if you have two laptops. Swiping out my hard drive to use for another computer, I'm able to bring all my cue points, bpm, etc. to the other computer.

Is there any mixer with built-in storage so you can just load everything onto it and play it back from the board without needing a laptop or even an external drive? I can't believe I can't find this anywhere.

I want to use an external hd to dj with the stand alone Denon prime go, this gonna work fine? I'm not worried about dropping it, it getting pulled out, or anything. It's gonna be 2TB. I can create playlists on the Denon itself so I can sort my music ECT, also I'm just a bedroom dj right now.

I use my G-Drive for my Serato DJ and my MacBook Pro with Touchbar, its what my school set me up with. But, is that gonna be Kool, hasn't let me down yet man???

Hi, cool question, i've missed the question before so i want to give my opinion here. I have been playing for more than an year off a usb 3.0 external adata SSD, my whole collection is there cause it's too big to have it on my internal drive and i prefer to have it all toghether. That been said my oly trouble with it has been when accidentally it gets touch or moved and the usb gets "miss-connecte" and when it reconects i sadly had to reboot my dj software, but that has been only few times, most of the time everything worked flawlessly. So in my opinion there is no trouble in playing of an external drive IF you take into consideration the type of usb and drive you are using.
