Your bravery is remarkable, bearing in mind that only one 's' separates poisson from poison. Transporting fish across the border in a mobile electric oven deserves a medal. You guys are an inspiration!
Can't believe how cheap the malt whisky is. Being Scottish might move to Italy. Well let's face it beats paying for the heating over winter... What fantastic food in that wonderful market. Elton is like Dr Who's tardis. 🛢️ Can't wait to see your next trip.
Thank you both that was fun. Mr Boo is great going shopping as he speaks all the languages. Food looked amazing and you didn’t forget little Halloween. Much more interesting than my food shopping journey. See you next week. 💕💕
Thanks Linda. Halloween wanted to come but it’s way too hot and she has a dodgy ticker. In the next weeks she’s coming out though (I can tell the way she stares at us when we leave!)
Be a fun video of how much Elton has changed your life’s for the better and worse ( if anything) things like shopping before Elton just an idea. Keep up the fun adventures it’s a joy to watch everytime.
For some reason I just wish Elton’s PA was watching this and would get you and Mr Boo a lunch invite to the chateau with Elton and David. Unlikely, but one can but wish for your sakes and that of the many increasing subscribers. Keep up the great work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Pleased to see your No. of subscribers gradually creeping up. Keep up the good work … always look forward to late Sunday / very early Monday here in Hong Kong for your next vlog.
It's funny finding a random video that is right up your alley, so to speak! And that's how I found you guys! I've said before that Nice is one of my favourite places but I love this visit into Italy for shopping, you seem to have the balance of a video completely right. We have a car review, lovely scenic views and then a little travel and shopping segment. Excellent, I must get back to Nice, maybe we'll stay at the Hotel Beau Ravage again, or maybe not 🙂
In southern Italy the prices are even lower than in northern Italy! ✌😉 Your vlogs are always beautiful to look at ... keep it up! 👍 Greetings from Calabria (southern Italy), ciao! ✋
The reference to Olive On the buses had me in stitches! She was my favourite! Your videos have become addictive, with the innuendos. Keep on keepin on! And yes, alcohol is much cheaper, compared to the UK, but its hardly surprising. Always lovely to see fresh local produce in a market, where everybody goes.
Hope you got everything home safely, would have been nice to see a successful ending. You guys really do make for a relaxing watch. See you next time, safe travels.
Guys, absolutely love the videos , so funny, especially the deadpan innuendos. I visit Cannes every year and you have given me so many more places I want to visit. Keep the vids coming. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I don't remember anyone saying "I could crush a fig" , but do remember that Eamonn Andrews & also Stu Francis used to say "I could crush a grape". Definitely worth going to Italy for a shopping trip. I miss not being able to get lovely fresh fruit & veg etc., from the local market or greengrocer ......sadly our town market and all the greengrocers disappeared years ago.
Great prices!... -Another fun shopping is the market in San Remo!! Lots of high fashion, fur cashmere etc cheap! And fun sea front dinning, for an episode...
Another Great Episode. Just one thing though...Don't Figs make you sh go to the toilet? There have been a lot of Complaints from People who have an Ami about the Glass Roof. I had heard a story that Citroen were going to replace the Glass Roof with Plastic, so, I wrote to Robert Clark at Citroen UK. He said it wasn't true. My Local Garage said they would replace the Glass with Plastic, seal it, then cover the whole Roof with something so you would never know any changes had been made.
This video brings back memories, 20 years ago I had my honeymoon in the hotel royal Westminster on the front in menton, it was the week before the Grand Prix and Monaco was crazy busy
I don't know which Tescos you boys were referring to, but I got a very fine bottle of Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold for just £26 on Friday. Trouble is, after friends visited, it's now ½ empty!
The shop assistant was like Olive of On the Busses. “ I’ll get you Butler !” & other famous lines….😂 I’m glad that you’re having fun in the sun ! I must get down to investigate my roots in Nice near the Russian style church. See if you can find where the Villa Bermon used to be …..
Just an Elton related question. When you park up on a charging bay, like that one in Italy, do you also have to pay a parking fee on top if the charging one ?
@@MeandMonAmi That’s good . Just another idea . With all those lovely boats and yachts down on the coast how about a marina coffee shop tour ? A review of the best coffee shops would be good . Slurp !
Should do a episode on the different types of column chargers , there seems to be so many different types and payment methods .😮 not to mention the different types of sockets.
My local shopping area is barely 2-5 km away though 50 km/h zones. I go there more or less every day. The government are talking about putting a toll ring on the roads going into that area, because they want to motivate people to do their shopping closer to their home. But for me they would force to go elsewhere further away. The L6e class vehicle (like Citroën Ami) is expected to be exempt from the toll fee. That just add another pro to the pro/con-list to consider, s9me time in the future when we might get one.
That was so amazing. I was just saying to my other half about whether to ask you how much space you have behind your seat and Richard’s, and then this video dropped. Wow. Mind reader Tim. Those prices were amazing too! Why would Scotland be more expensive? That’s just silly talk.
You guys are quite simply superb. Your commentary, video, camera angles , music are just so natural. Me and the wife have loved watching your honesty fly on the wall with your Citroen Amy and the practicality of owning one. Questions for you guys; What is the warranty on the Amy? What is the warranty on the battery? Cheers! Btw, Stu Francis was the presenter of Crackerjack and he used to always say; “oh, I could crush a grape!”
Thanks Glen. I think it’s 12 months on the car and five years on the battery but it’s been a while since I checked. Some people say Larry Grayson but I think you are right!
Number of Comments have gone this week😂think it was stu Francis that said ooh I could crush a grape! Back in Nice tomorrow for 7 of the next 9 weeks… definitely my favourite time to be on the cote d Azur
Reassuring to see someone else going to great lengths for a bargain. We always have at least two - if not three - shopping lists on the go for the places that do the best for less. 10 outta 10 for canniness.
Doing a trip, going from France to Italy 😆 reminds me when I did that with my parents in ‘59 “I could crush a grape”….I think was Stu Francis. What happened to him? 🧐 Another fab, entertaining post, thank you and please keep them coming. They’re so professionally produced I’m sure you could do a deal with one of the many TV channels.
Thanks Nick. “Although now 71, Stu continues to have a busy career. For decades he has starred in Bolton Albert Halls ' Christmas pantomime, and it was only because of another work commitment that he was absent from the most recent show. “I've been on tour with Cannon and Ball in a play called The Dressing Room,” he explained.Mar 16, 2019”
Hi! We are wondering if you've ever gone to the store right over the Italian border. We stayed at Menton Garavan one year and walked over there often. Do you have an idea of how the prices compare to Ventimiglia? When we've stayed in Bordighera, we've shopped in Ventimiglia a lot - at the same places you went to in the video. Great video! We enjoyed reminiscing while watching you shop.
It was Larry Grayson who's one of many catch phrases was....I could crush a grape. That packed Ami looked denser than the sun. How was it on the hills going back?
I've just found your channel and absolutely love it! 💜 I want an Ami sooooo much! Can't wait to watch your other videos. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Em x
Did you ever see Elton John’s “ I’m still standing “ video ? Shot in Cannes & Nice apparently. What about a musical return for Elton to those locations ?
@@MeandMonAmi Yes. I thought that too in the back of my mind . But you could still revisit the sites and add your special music instead plus a bit of posing ……😉😀
Another Cool video adventure thanks. Mr Boo is multilingual? I am so pleased I dont drink alcohol now and instead Save all that money! Lol.. btw is it the differences in sales tax between France and Italy that effect retail food prices? We have 12.5 percent GST on most everything here in NZ including food…Thanks Laurie NZ.
As usual, great fun and informative video. And your production quality is in the top 95 percentile of videos. For the insulation to combat heat have you heard of the Landrover Tropical Roof? I wonder if a similar strategy of a double skinned roof with an insulation air gap in between could be implemented for Elton. Elton John used to love hats!
Hilarious shopping adventures, made me nostalgic for a few weeks ago when I was shopping in that market. Surely Larry Grayson used to say "Eee, I could crush a grape!" no? Please ask Mr Boo if he knows the identity of the mysterious vegetable glimpsed at 13.44? Also, TWO horse grooming kits? How big is your stable exactly?
Hi, I am curious to know if there is storage behind the drivers seat as it seems that it is further forward than the passenger seat. Maybe a place for your generator?
Thanks again for brightening my day! Nothing like a shopping trip to Italy for that. And much easier than crossing between the U.S. and Canada. Last time I tried that with 2 bottles of Vino and a bag of dry dog biscuits I was taking to a fishing lodge with a pet timber wolf they detained me and my father and threatened to seize my airplane as attempting to bring dog biscuits into Canada is s capitol offense, But on a quick thought, I said the dog biscuits were not dog food but human survival rations, to which the customs gendarmerie asked "Seriously! You would eat that?" I replied: "If you were starving you would just as Alaska dog mushers do". The lead gendarmerie said with a laugh: "If you eat one of those dog biscuits I'll let you go and not seize this airplane" I said "ok" as he handed me a dog biscuit. I had about 1/3 of it consumed when all three gendarmerie broke into laughter and the commander said: "You're free to go, get out of here!" I asked about my father whom they detained after he proudly confessed to having been arrested for knocked the hell out of the leader of the Hell's Angels back in the 1970's. My father was close to 80' at the time, and the released him with a warning that if he "beat the hell" out of anyone in Canada he would be spending the rest of his life in prison.
You cannot compare the situation between Italy and France with the relation Canada USA. The first are both in a political and economic Union and share the same currency.
Thank you for yet another lovely episode with the fabulous Elton & co. My only gripe would be the ravioli with 🐰🐰 I consider animals mostly as friends, not food. So I wonder if there any nice vegan restaurants in the area?
Thanks. I have to confess I don’t know of any apart from the one Djokovic opened in Monaco but we shall investigate! (Although the lunch I had was entirely vegetarian if not vegan)
@@MeandMonAmi Thanks, looking for the results of the investigation already :) I noticed your green choice for lunch I hope it was as tasty as less healthy alternatives? Reminds me of the IKEA grand opening episode... I speak Swedish and was very amused by the song too. Do you know what it's about? if not you must check it out for a good laugh!
Sad thing really, but I'm a fan of the band Sparks. On the new album there is a song called "Nothing is as good as they say it is" where a 22 hour old baby looks at the world it's been born in to and tells their parents that they'd rather go back where they came from. Anyhow one lyric is the baby says that maybe it would have been ok if they'd been born in the South of France. When I hear that lyric I envision you guys!!😅
Thank you very much gentlemen! I consider moving from the Netherlands to the south of France next year, but the high costs of living is a bit of a issue. Menton has been on top of my list but now I know that with an Ami shopping in Italy is not only great fun but also saves serious money. Are you available as consultants as I have many questions still?. Please don’t think I would consider paying you with a coffee or a croissant. Serious help is serious business. Very much like to hear! Kindest regards Ronald
Me and the wife were blown away by the cost of food in Villefranche this summer. We’re vegan and it’s quite hard to eat out, the supermarket costs compared to the UK were bonkers
@@ewanstevenson végétalien, they’re clueless though. Half of them think you’ve said vegetarian, which there is also a word for, végétarien. Bless them 🤷🏻♂️
@@MeandMonAmi No wonder, finishing school some years ago me and a friend went to Sweden one week and meet two americans cycling from Italia up Europe, and when they saw the prices here, they got on the bikes right to sweden...
Based on what I recognized, the Glenlivet 10 single malt scotch and then the Woodford reserve bourbon. These prices are actually quite high to me. US state of Oregon has a tax rate of 67¢ per gallon of liquor which is where I get mine. Half an hour drive from our side in WA which is percent based 20.5% and this is closer to that price They must really kill you on liquor taxes in Europe that sucks
Do you have the name or address of the store for the liquor and the deli items.. I got two cantelopes for 5 E in Ventimigla.. and they were so good, fresh from the farm
Don't they do a little trailer to fit the Ami, nothing too grand obviously, just big enough for an extra bit of cargo such as the trip you made to IKEA. Regards from Baildon ( near the moors ) Yorkshire
