Ed Bolian hey Ed, could you make a video explaining why your lambo took 10 months to paint. Yes it will be a video about paint drying but I think most people would be interested in the level of quality that exotic car paint is compared to a mass produced bmw for example.
Drove by one in the gym parking lot, first thing I noticed was its front rotors were the size of my wheels. And just looking at it for a second I thought, it's not good looking but at the same time it's amazing looking... yeah I would rock it.
he's like that one professor that is just the right amount of monotone to where everything he says just sounds correct and thought provoking, and the way he carries himself just makes people absorb every word
10:41 "McLaren notwithstanding". I know anecdotes are practically worthless, and even more so when they come from anon guys over the Internet but let me just say this for what it's worth. I bought my single previous owner McLaren 12C exactly 6 years old with about 10,000km (6000 miles) on the clock. The previous owner didn't drive it much, but it was trouble-free. I've driven it for 1 year and 5 months to the day and put another 15,000km (9000 miles) on it. It's daily driven (unfortunately stop-go traffic with short trips is the norm as I live in Singapore), and I also use it for driving up to Malaysia including highway blasts, B road drives and track days at the Sepang former F1 circuit. A big knock on wood moment here - but the car has been flawless. Completely trouble free. I've still maintained the warranty with McLaren Singapore (and it's very expensive) but the car has needed practically nothing other than routine oil and gearbox servicing and tyre changes. It's the best exotic I've ever owned and I love it. I've never had a Lambo (am considering an Aventador for my next car) but for what it's worth, here's my experience with other exotics. A Ferrari F430 with the paddles I had a few years back was also daily driven by I gave it up after only 3 months because it kept giving error codes (even though the PPI was fine and the car had been maintained). I also hated the gearbox in that car. Given the ridiculous policies in Singapore, I had to export the car after it reached ten years of age, so I cut my losses and did just that I actually made a bit of money on the trade for a new Merc AMG GT. Not sure if that would be considered an exotic, but it gave gearbox errors right out the box (needed a recode) and a fuel rail issue later (needed replacement under warranty). My 911 which I had a few years back gave non - stop issues with the soft top and the final straw came with a brake master cylinder failure. Long story short: my McLaren has been the most enjoyable and reliable exotic/supercar to date. Now let's hope I haven't jinxed anything! 😂
I came here to say that i'd daily the Bisimoto minivan before a Lambo. I can't drink a juice box and watch Peppa Pig in the back seat with my best friend in a Lambo
Chris Estill Does your best friend also take up the whole bench? Might be why you can’t daily drive with him around In my humble opinion, having the Bisimoto Odyssey and beating exotic cars in a straight line wouldn’t be as satisfying, but it would if the minivan was also track oriented.

Those are motorcycles tho. Easy to park. And it doesn't really have any disadvantage. Ya can't have more than 2 people in a Lambo, you can't park next to other cars, it's not as confortable, Gas is much more expensive, and if you're in my country you'd get a fine for driving over 120km/h
Ed this was beautiful. You really put into words what I have trouble explaining to the non “car” people in my life. Granted I dont drive something as amazing as a lambo but my E92 M3 is a blast. It comes with waaay more issues than a more practical car but the feeling of it is worth every penny.
I want someone to make a YTP that features Ed just answering yes or no questions using that clip “Hey Ed, do you think cancelling the Volkswagen Beetle was the right decision?” “No”
It's weird to hear someone say "drive as much as possible" about an exotic car, having grown up with a father who mourned the loss in value from every kilometer on a VW Sharan or Touran.....
The minute he said "sort of" I immediately thought the previous owner died in the car. The emphasis on overly cleaned smell made me realize just how, though. But I don't mean to make light of it. Being someone who has dealt with suicidal ideology through out most of my adult life, I can say with certainty that it is no fun. Although, it was a funny story, I do have to admit.
Benson You caught on faster than I did! And as far suicidal ideals go I think we may share just a tad bit of that dark side humor as a aftertaste from those times. Glad to hear you’re doing better!
The last line is the most important! Whatever car you drive make sure when you handover the keys you don’t regret a thing! Thank you Ed for your knowledge and experiences that we all hope to one day understand as well as you!
I drive a 70 challenger RT , gets about 7mpg and if am lucky I ll get to the destination without it braking on me , on my last drive the throttle cable broke and the car got stuck in full throttle in the heat of traffic , with all that said , it’s always a experience an adventure with I drive that car ..
It's an interesting experiment, but you're better off with something that was created as a daily driver with some power under the hood, like an Audi RS6 Avant.
Ed Bolian , I feel like you were just standing in the pulpit preaching of automobile masochism. Is there a support group for this sort of thing? I have the mechanics version of this automotive disorder, as I still do retain my B5 S4. Admittedly, there may be a small, more reliable DD fleet to accompany it. Worthy to note it is the most reliable B5 in the nation. Only 1 engine out in 130,000mi. Call Guinness!
For many years I rode a pretty uncompromising sports bike with enough noise to give me permanent tinnitus, hard suspension, sky high footpegs and a long reach to the handlebars like it was built for someone with a jockey's legs and a swimmer's arms. I also owned a rock solid, comfy Camry. Rain, hail or shine, I'd take the bike over the car whenever it was humanly possible, including a cross country road trip. I totally get the idea of motoring masochism.
No, you can drive daily if you want, but it's hot made for that. Also, the guy doing the maintenance made some mistakes and we had to replace the wiring harness, which costs a ton.
This is a great explanation of why we do what we do as car guys. Well done as always Ed. I got my 1986 Z31 back in November and just finished taking it on a 12,000 mile road trip around the country. It's about the adventure, the enjoyment of driving the car, the mystery of what will need fixed next, and just seeing if the old man can still jump in and run with the best. If i had taken my delivery car, my subaru, (5mt '08 impreza) sure it can be fun at times, but i would have been bored to death the first couple thousand miles and would just stop there. It's not about what's out there that's the most practical, it's about what is out there that's most enjoyable to drive.
This is the first time I've come across Ed's videos and after watching this it's clear that Ed is a naturally gifted speaker. I've picked up just as much on effective speaking structures from this video as what it's like to have a lambo as an everyday car.
I drive a 2011 Subaru WRX STI. It is in no way an exotic car, but for me if gives me the best of both worlds. It’s a pretty quick and fun car that is also AWD (great for the Canadian winters I live in) and also is still a 4 door 5 seater plus trunk space. I can drive it wherever, whenever and never worry about comfort, space or enjoyment. No, it’s not a $100,000+ super car but it’s something many can attain and enjoy without needing to have a “beater” or a “backup” car.
I daily drive an Autozam AZ-1... It's my FIRST car and it's my ONLY car. Raked up 19.000 kilometres in less than two years. I can relate to a lot of the things Ed says, except for the "is it easy to park" and "does it have good gas milage" questions - the AZ-1 fits everywhere and has better fuel economy than most modern cars. But most importantly - it gives me a huge smile EVERY time I drive it. So yes, daily drive your exotic car and do it NOW!
Automotive-masochist is a person who derives gratification from being subjected to physical discomfort and the public exhibition of this discomfort. I am with you 100% Ed. Be happy, be safe
I keep hearing everything you’re mentioning Ed and I came up to the conclusion that a Corvette stingray or Corvette grand sport is perfect. Here are the reasons why. It’s not exactly a super car, but it has super car looks to the average person. It’s not exactly blistering fast, but it’s not slow either. The average Joe can work hard and actually purchased a brand new Corvette stingray with hard work and determination. Super car is much harder to obtain with an average Joe. A Corvette is actually pretty reliable especially 2014 through 19. Maintenance is actually relatively affordable. It’s actually pretty comfortable for anybody under 6 foot. Surprisingly it’s good on MPG, that is if you’re not pedal to the metal on the highway. At the mention it has nice glorious noises that come out of the exhaust of course you have to have the MPP exhaust.
Ed describing daily driving a supercar sounds a lot like when I rode a CBR900RR as my only mode of transport in my early twenties.... But probably about 100x more expensive. Rain, snow, icy British roads, beautiful sunny days, motorway trips to see the girlfriend, heading to work. All on a dedicated sports machine which did 0-60 in under 3 seconds. Damn I miss it.
I love this. I'm a rock crawler, Jeep, Yota, or big diesel pick up guy but appreciate every bit of anything automotive. All of my rigs are geared to crawl, sould axle, fuel guzzlers, etc. When Ed made the list of cons vs pros they were almost the same even though they couldn't be on further ends of the spectrum. But my love for them are the same and actually I'd like to have my fleet of 7 plus his. Love this channel
Think of the only two seats as you don't have to take everyone to lunch for work so you're saving gas. I own a z32 vert and surprisingly the trunk is huge, some extra storage, reliable(went from Chrysler 2.7l), turns heads, and it's sooooo comfortable with them leather seats
Love the pics of the LP. I have done the same thing with a few of my other cars and put them in an album. It's great to look at them years later and say, "remember when we did...."
Thank you for this realization story on owning a Lamborghini. I'm 49yr old, I've wanted lambo since I was 13. I'm working on achieving my dream of owning and driving my Lamborghini. This was a great Vlog.
@@andykapsar4667 Yeah, saw that one. Would never work, but made a good video. I'm also thinking about the DDE guys, can you imagine the repair/maintenance bills on their cars? But they get a ton of views. Hoovie's Garage / Tavarish make decisions on cars that no one in their right mind makes, but they make their living doing that. I'm planning to one day to make decisions based on pure driving pleasure like Ed talks about in this video, but I probably won't have youtube support so I'll have a backup vehicle.
Loved every single thing about this video and agree fully! I daily drove my MK4 Supra, obviously not even close to the same thing as an exotic but one of the cars that many people who own them tend not to drive, as it was one of my biggest dream accomplishments especially at my age, I couldn't imagine not driving it as much as possible, as of lately I've been daily driving my Evo 8 since it gets a little bit better gas mileage and is less likely to get pulled over here in southern California but when I get my first exotic I'll be sure to remember this video 🙏🏽
I am about to buy a 1996 mx 5 M edition for my first car. My dad jokes about it having 2 seats. He daily drives a 09 rav 4. I always wanted a fun first car. A mx 5 does lack some practicality but it is going to be my only car for now but people say they are fun to drive.
Start in Facebook marketplace. Buy something cheap, fix it, sell it for more than you bought and fixed it for, and keep doing it until you have Lambo money
Louis Subearth Flipping cars is harder then it sounds, cars are not fully predictable, one unaccounted for item can cost you all your profits. As well I’m from the rust belt of Canada, used cars here often need more then their value in parts alone to make them safe and reliable. (parts cost a lot more here too) I’ll stick to making youtube videos, maybe one day that’ll give me the chance to at least drive some of those exotics.
This is so true. I drove a BMW 128i, not the craziest thing out there, but certainly not the most comfortable. I remember having people getting in and asking certain things, that i would quite readily say "Nope dont have one of those" . I never once second thought this, because the car was SO much fun to drive, i loved the appearence, and every single time i got into it, it put a smile on my face. I fell on harder times, and had to trade it for my pickup, and i do love my pickup, but i can see the time coming when i will be able to purchase another toy, and i can not wait to start shopping around when it comes time. Well made video, very true, and makes me excited for my next car.
