Jason Vaughan is back to answer one very simple question: Can you use the LED Optical Snoot with flash lighting in your photography? Jason compares the two and has dug into the differences in output between the EF Mount Snoot and the LED Snoot to find out what you'll have to keep in mind if you're going to use the LED Snoot as a multi-purpose unit.

Hello. Could you kindly point me towards the deeper bowens adapter for this snoot like you use on the video? Despite the comments stating it’ll fit ad600 it unfortunately doesn’t. Thank you !

Hi Jssnon , thanks for great video demonstration. Would you be able to suggest flash power needed for these snoots lets say shooting at f5.6? Thanks.

It will depend on several factors but I have 1200w about 5 to 6 feet from the model, sometimes closer and on about 1/2 power. I have used it with 600w and 400w lights in different situations. Not much help I know but as I said it depends on a lot of other factors, how much ambient light etc.

Hey Jason, thanks for the comparison. You mentioned that the rectangular Gobos of the "EF-mount" fit into the holder of the LED snoot but not vise versa. Out of curiosity did you also try to fit the entire LED snoot holder into the "EF-mounnt" snoot or is the LED Gobo holder a larger diameter as well? I really like the "EF-mount" snoot, especially as it only has one frosted glass/lens element in the front, but am extremely disapointed with the Gobos and other accessories for it which bizarrely don't appear to be a standard size and are also more expensive than ones made for other optical snoots. Having more Gobo/accessory choices would really make this a much better choiice.

Hi, i have one question please...🙂 i want a snoot for flash and looked lots of vids on YT...yesterday jeff bannion photography wrote me....this snoots will kill flashes.....because of making incredible heat.....could this be true? i thought LED lights are much more hot, because a flash is on a millisecond....leds are always on...thank you and greets BM

If you have the model light on then yes they get hot, also if you shoot very rapidly or with the flash on full power. I have had my first optical snoot for several years and have never killed a light yet. If it is something that worries you then I would suggest only using the model light to get set up then switch it off while you shoot, and shoot at a steady pace rather than shooting rapid fire.
