The bank of Canada is independent of the government. The Prime Minister cannot tell the Bank what numbers to use or to raise or lower interest rates.

When you lie to our faces, it speaks to your credibility. Is your integrity really worth so little? Inflation is not "down", they just changed the metrics they are using. And employment is way down, as they have also changed who they count in the labor pool. The labor participation rate is much more telling. That and you cannot bring in a million people a year and not have wages stagnate, a housing crisis, a healthcare crisis and a spike in violent crime and unprecedented need for foodbanks. I get that part of the economy is about "confidence", but lying about where we are at does a disservice to everyone. Truth matters, and the media parroting Trudeau's narrative is not going to help us fix the problems.
