Thanks, Solomon and John, for the video. For The increased vehicle price limit will simply increase the price of vehicles; for example the Canadian EV6/Ioniq 5's are about $10K cheaper than in other markets, so that they fit the present price cap. The price will be increased immediately, as soon as the cap is raised.

It rebate went up the day after we placed our order for a new Hyundai Tucson PHEV. Yay!

This updated program changes the conversation between getting a BEV or a PHEV. I always had the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV as an after thought. Now that I can get 5k off the sticker price I just might jump at it when it's available.

Thanks, Solomon and John. I had a question with the inflation reduction act that is being passed in congress in the US. It will include Tesla and GM vehicles for the 7500$ federal rebate as it stands now, there is no rebate for Tesla at the federal level here in Canada. Do you think that a similar 7500$ rebate will be coming in Canada also for Tesla model 3?

Doubtful, because the cost of M3 has only been increasing for the past few years. Perhaps the rebate would apply for the elusive Model 2 once it's out, or if the rebate's maximum vehicle price limit gets increased over the years.

Battery electric bicycles are EVs as well. Do they qualify for the credit? They do much less harm to the environment than any car.

We agree that ebikes are a huge part in the electrification of the transportation system. However, based on the current rebate system, two-wheelers are unfortunately not eligible for rebates.

Yeah I’m not a big fan of the changes it just incentives the manufacturers to make the cars more expensive. I would have liked something like 8k incentive for EVs under 40k, 7k for under 50k, 6k for under 60k and so on. Or maybe make it 8k incentive for under 45k and 4k for cars over 45k. In my opinion people that can afford a car for 70k probably don’t need any help, but less fortunate people that would shop for cars around 40k could benefit a lot more from the incentives. Idk I think prices will now go up because of that, just look at Hyundai for example they have a car that matches the 45k and others have it too and these will probably disappear now.

@@Lueeee For some of those cars your thinking USD. In Canada most of them start around 50k.
@Lueeee
@Lueeee 2 года назад
@@Demobot1 I double checked and they all start at 45k or below, for a couple of them that means $44‘495. And I think there’s some destination fee and taxes on top and for example in bc the IONIQ 5 starts at $46‘944 but it is technically available for under 45k in some province.

If people really wanted to buy EV cars the government would not have to give taxpayers money to them to buy one. Let the market decide what people want to buy stop the social engineering.
