Does any of this content mean for the 2022 IONIQ models, that Level 2 charing your car from 10 to 80% is going to encourage early battery degradation when it's over 85 degrees at night? (This is the average temperature at night for millions of people who live in the SouthWest of the United States, from May until September every year)

I totally agree with smoguli - continuous draw on a 15 or 20 amp breaker is limited to 80% of the breakers rating - ie, 20 amp breaker is limited to 16 amps continuous draw - ditto for a 15 amp breaker = 12 amps continuous draw - I believe Stage one chargers draw less than each because of safety reasons - like u have other items on the same circuit- best to go with a dedicated circuit ( no other items plugged in on the same circuit)

I love how you film from a third person perspective. I like a reviewer who shows how the bike looks from an outside perspective when ridden, not just a handlebar POV

The nema 5-20 IS NOT USED IN BATHS OR KITCHENS. It might look similar but it is NOT nema 5-20. It is a GFCI. It should be 20 anps in the kichen only. All others will be 15 anps

If negative terminal has a sensor we can direct disconnect the battery ? Otherwise we should use another battery inside the car and then disconnect negative terminal first, right sir? Plz reply

Nice vid. I like the low key presentation, your choice of music, the cartoon car map overlay. I also like the Kwh /Km calculation & info. I'd like to see your road trip planning & GOM calculations plus planned recharge stops before you you head off on the road trip. Looking fwd to your next one.

The Wall Street Journal is on a jihad against electric cars. How humiliating for Johanna Stern to have act out this charade on behalf of Big Oil. I'm sure this isnt what she had in mind when she studied at Union J School.

It's to do with accidental short circuits. Following the order given in the video makes it much less likely that you'll cause a short circuit by accidentally dropping a tool or touching something energized.

Recommended to only charge to 80% of battery capacity. Perhaps for long trips 100% is okay from time to time.

The 12v Battery on my 2022 Kona EV is dead and the dealership is telling me they are on backorder with NO ETA. I'm currently jumping it with a little portable charger, every time I need to drive.Concerned that if I use a battery from napa etc, it may cause issues down the line. Thoughts anyone?

Teslas stopped including a portable EVSC / AC electric connector a while ago and some other EV makers followed suit. The Tesla Mobile Connector works well for level 1 & 2 charging, but it’ll set you back $250 + tax. That said, I was able to negotiate for one to be included with my Tesla near the end of 2023, as they have the ability to credit your $250 for customer service issues. However, it took over a month of following up with them & I had to drive over an hour to them to get it. When I arrived, nobody knew what I was talking about and it took them 30 minutes to figure out how to get me one. When I opened it at home, it realized not only was it used, but it was also missing the level 2 adapter! Knowing then how politely persistent I would be until I received it, they shipped the level 2 adapter to me. This was all on top of them keeping my $250 deposit for an order they botched a couple of months earlier by not honoring an extremely cheap lease they advertised & I qualified for. Yeah, I spent quadruple $250 of my time resolving this, but at that point it was the principle of the matter not letting them rip me off twice. All this said, I STILL somehow love my 2023 Tesla MYLR more than any of the many vehicles I’ve ever driven. That says a lot about just cool of a vehicle it is overall.

Makes no sense. If you already have a really big battery why not power everything from it? All you need is a fuse box correct? Like a house. You get a big voltage into the circuit breaker box, then that spilts it up into smaller voltages. Why do the same?

Yep it is average but the price is $10,000 more than my Ioniq5 which is a much nicer vehicle...IMHO. OUR AWD Ultimate 2022 I5 listed at $59,000 less a $2400 discount - an equivalent Ariya was over $70K!!!! Thanks for review! Mike 🇨🇦

Great video and very relevant topic! I have a Kona EV (2019 model). The 12V battery died (shortly after the time the boot wasn't properly closed and the inside light drained the battery). Managed to jump start at first. But after a few times, even this wasn't possible. Luckily, it was during the first 2 years of the car and the 12V battery was still under warranty. So was changed free of charge.

That battery setup looks very similar to my Kia Niro EV 2019, so this was a great demo I can use when I will be needing to replace my own battery soon.

I'll note that it's important to disconnect 12V power anyway just so that the car can re-assess the 12V battery characteristics, which from my measurements will take a few days. Owners might look for the correct DIN44 metric-size battery, if available. I installed a DIN44-AGM "stop-start" type which has been more resilient than the OEM Rocket. There's also a DIN44-AGM "hybrid auxiliary" type which is less easy to find but even more optimal, such as the Yuasa LN1-MF.

Thanks for all the videos on your Kona. They were kinda a review of of the Kona EV for me before i picked up one myself. I like it alot so far, for my work commute. So thanks, by the way, I've used napa batteries for decades and they have been great. My muscle Car and my boat share a Napa battery. No problem

This does not apply to a Tesla car made from 2022 onward. The 12 volt lead acid battery was replaced by a 16 volt lithium battery that should last the life of the car. It uses the same technology as the main propulsion battery and is bolted in place.
@yeahbuddy92193911
@yeahbuddy92193911 4 месяца назад
I have a Model Y with the older 12v battery. I read somewhere the new 16V lithium batteries in Teslas should last 10 years, another source said 20. So they should be very long lasting.
