The way Carey Price was handling the puck early I think he demoralized the Leafs. He even flicked it up the ice on the penalty kill with swagger, did you feel that? Almost like he was bored. My new favorite goalie.
He made the early clutch savez and than the maplelaughs goalie did his thing and forgot how to be a goalie in the playoffs and you could just see that team deflate instantly...
@@Dane233 you know what's funnier? 55 years without a cup! Several 3 goal leads blown in game 7's! Losing to a 42 year old zambone driver who works for the team!
I think that we owe a bit of respect to Carey Price here instead of just shitting on the Leafs. The guy is a brick wall in the playoffs. They play so much more confident in front of him knowing that they have one of the greatest of all time in their net. We gotta appreciate this legends performances before he's gone. Not a Hab fan but that guy deserves a cup more than anyone, would love to see him get one in Montreal before his career is done
2013: 4-1 game 7 collapse 2017: loose in 6 but future looks bright and gives hope 2018: hopes crushed and loose in game 7 2019: loose in game 7 to the Bruins again 2020: miracle comback just to get shutout and lose 2021: blew 3-1 series lead
Carey price is the best playoff goalie I've seen since Roy retired, just un freaking beatable. Also I have to take my hat off to Mathews for being a class act, it would be so hard to say anything but he stopped and had something to say to each and every Canadiens player in that handshake line
serious question for the toronto hockey media from a life long oilers fan: how many more of austin matthews prime years are the leafs going to waste before he demands a trade out of toronto?
@@MmmM-bl7ih exactly. Everyone is complaining about the leafs not being able to score but they're going against Price who carried their team through 7 games
@goosey I’d love to get Brady Tkachuk for Marner. Problem is, I don’t think the Sens would accept that despite Marner's real $ is less than the cap AAV.
Congrats Habs, and good luck in round 2, coming from a Leafs fan, but damn, why is Mitch still on our team? My guys cares about the money only and underperformed the whole series
Spezza and Thornton are not good vet for any team ....i remembrrc HABS kicked Boston and Joe out playoffs everytime and Spezza is not worth it ..Never win nothing ... But Perry and even Staal are both Stanley cup champs...that what Bergevin new young players like kk ,Suzuki , and Coco need winner ...not Joe and Jason
@@LittleBoyFatMan Can't wait to see all these Avs fans eat some humble pie. You guys sound like leaf fans. If I remember correctly, didn't they get stomped by the Stars last year? A team who didn't even qualify this year... Lmao!
Haha thanks dude I cheered for you guys when you played the Leafs. Funny how that works...but then we play each other and it's hate on. At least we have one thing in common. You still hold a 2-1 on making the Leafs choke though.
Marner’s most productive moment was airmailing that puck over the glass to give Montreal a 5 on 3 powerplay... too bad he didn’t do anything for his team
What I find hilarious is seeing so many comments last week from leafs fans saying that McDavid should leave Edmonton that his talent is being wasted there… not so cocky now hey!!! Haha
@@ryans413 Matthews had a goal and was physical and played defense. Not good enough, but a bit better than Mcdavid and way better than Mitch overpaid marner
The one year where I looked at the road to the conference finals and saw hope. Only to realize, the greater the hope, the stronger the disappointment. WHO CAN WE EVEN GET FOR MARNER (10.9M, 0G, small, chokes in important moments) OF REASONABLE VALUE???
Matthews was equally a bum don’t fool yourself ... .79 to .14 goals per game... if you give Matthews all the ball scrubbing when the team wins he deserves all the blame too... best goal scorer when nothings on the line
You forget loses 90% of puck battles, flops like a fish, has no upper body strength, selfish, tries to do it all himself, doesn’t come ready to play, and drags his teammates down with him
@@itsapplesaucetoaboss8216 The best case scenario is that Marner gets an injury and goes to LTIR till playoffs. At least he's worth nothing against the cap in the regular season and we can have someone useful like Spezza.
Honestly one hell of a game. Toronto absolutely poured it on and took over that whole last period. As a Habs fan I’m relieved, but good effort TO the young bucks have lots of years ahead of them!
I have to say: as a Habs fan, 1. What the hell happened? 2. I gained a whole lotta respect for Matthews from that handshake line. The guys was beat up, tightly covered all series and frustrated as hell and handled defeat with class and respect for Danault, Anderson and Price. I'm just used to like Lucic-and-Chara-style handshakes
Steve Dangle's video is going to be EPIC!!! Guarantee you it will be THE GOAT of RU-vid videos. Congrats Habs!!! Go Habs Go!!! Go Habs Go!! Go Habs Go!! 😁🇨🇦🏒
@@terryliamakeros4552 NO, NO. Toronto fans are the most arrogant in the league, we can blame our National media for this, social media. When you get bounced from the playoffs, keep watching and you'll see how tough it is to win a cup. All the skill in the world won't win a cup, you need to bruise and be bruised.
@@louismeloche3857 your acting like I’m the one playing lol and again your sounding pretty arrogant yourself if you think objectively one fan base is worse than the other
I really hope McDavid demands out only to the Leafs. Then the Leafs trade for him in a package that includes Marner and not much else. Then the Oilers and Leafs meet in the Stanley Cup finals where the Leafs blow a 3-0 series lead. Oilers win the Cup on a gwg by Marner.
Price is such a beast. Honestly, so many people were ready to doubt this guy this year, and he showed up at the biggest moment of the year so far. As a sens fan, I've always never really been a fan of this guy, but just so impressed watching this guy do his thing this series despite all the pressure and adversity.
I remember going to Leaf and Marlie games in 1963 and 1964 when I was 10/11 years old and watching players like Dave Keon, Bobbie Baun, George Armstrong, Tim Horton, Ron Ellis and even Eddie Litzenberger, goalie Johnny Bowers, those buys had heart, played like there was no tomorrow. I can remember sneaking into the rink after taking the train in from Mimico, and spending the day wandering and hiding in the Gardens, then as the players would hit the ice to practice or pre-game. going into the stands behind the benches. Sometimes later the players would come into the stands and sit with us kids. Ron Ellis used to buy us all hot dogs, 5 or 6 rink rats. THOSE were good teams, hard working, down to earth men. I used to wear the Maple Leaf wool sweater to bed in the winter. Now I wouldn't wear one, anywhere. Sad. Still love the Maple Leafs, but not what they stand for now, but what it used to stand for when a 10 year old never had to worry about being let down.
They were leafs fans saying leafs in 4 because they were cocky and confident about their team... same as habs fans were saying habs in 4 and every other fanbase says their team will win. I’m not salty I’m just saying
Im in a special playoff bracket group with my brother and our friends. I picked the leafs in round 1 not because I wanted them to win, but because if they did, I’d get another point towards my total. And if they lost, I’d get to see the plethora of memes that would fly out, it was a fool proof strategy 😎
listening to the fan590 how bad the habs were and they didnt even belong in the playoffs after game 4 when every game was close except game 4 makes this bitter sweet and i aint no habs fan
leafs fans were shitting on the habs young guys all season so its beautiful watching their "superstars" choke the way they did while guys like kotkaniemi and suzuki were playing great.
This is a message for fans of Toronto Maple Leafs- im really sad guys we see in their faces that they re sad but they lost fair and square But in the other hand, the Canadiens we re spectacular +they have Price so... GG
They're not stacked. It just looks that way. Very top heavy. Reason why they have to sign all their bottom 6 guys to league minimums. 20m between Marner and Matthews for a whopping 5 pts between them? Ouch. They thought bringing Thornton to the team would solve their problems. One of the biggest chokers in the game.
I’m not even upset that they lost, I’m upset that my Grandfather (who’s already in real bad shape) can’t just have this one glimmer of happiness. He’s a hardcore Leafs fan and would kill to see these guys live, I’m just afraid he won’t get to see them ever win one more before his time comes, I really hope they learn from this blunder and win it all next year, I just wanna see him happy for once.
@@Grassss Nope, his dad died a few years back and that basically killed him inside, ever since he lost him he’s just been declining. Hockey is the only thing that makes him truly happy since ig it reminds him of his childhood when everything was fine.
I’ll probably just get endlessly chirped for this. But I’m truly gutted and numb at this stage in my life. I’ve sat through 2013, 2018, 2019, 2020 and now 2021. I love this team more than anyone can explain, yet they shatter my heart more each season. Am I smart enough to cheer for someone else? No and if I was it wouldn’t feel right anyways. I genuinely despise everything about the Canadiens, yet they embarrass us and show they wanted and deserved it more. Good luck in Round 2
