Carey Price made 28 saves as the Montreal Canadiens eliminated the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 3-1 win in Game 7 to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
@1 2 I'm sure those shows are great, but I'm too into this show right now. I'll check them out when this is over, although it's been going on for 54 years now so I'm not sure when that will be.
As a Habs fan it literally doesn’t matter what happens the rest of the playoffs, beating the Leafs in the playoffs being down 3 games to 1 was epically glorious.
It’s really satisfying to see matthews’ smile quickly fade. He went from laughing in game 5, to looking defeated in 7. Great series matthews 1 goal in 7 games😂😭
How crazy is it that we learned after those playoffs that Carey Price was playing injured basically... And what happened to him afterwards, what a sad way to end the career of such a great goalie.
@Jim Browski you dont watch? All shots were outside weak or directly hit him.. Mtl as a team played well, they didnt get hit? Once a real team ays them lets see.
Two years ago Evantus said; "if the leafs play anyone besides Boston, they would win a first round playoff!" Well, guess what - even with a 3 - 1 game lead they still can't. The biggest joke in the NHL. Pathetic Girlie-Boy losers.
and if you switch the numbers its 13 and the leafs have won 13 stanley cups so the habs are probably making fun of the leafs because the habs have more 😂. and im a leafs fan btw
Leafs fans-"We are favorites in this series we are not going to lose, so Leafs in 5.🤣 Then they choke the 3-1 series lead like they always choke every year. I'm a happy Sens fan
@@smilanesi98 no, torts could. Toronto needs nothing, i knew when they stopped matthews from hitting, it is a sjw thing, nylander was the the hero on the desk right? Not 1 body check, not a single scrum in 5 games??? Also knew when kadri was sent away. Simmonds no scrum? Not about skill guys.
@@Daniel-ii6rq hmm, i think your saying he scored on price better than anyone. He did. He threw 1 check in 5 games, so last week goal scorer one way players suck, but now they are heros..k budd.. I loved the leafs for 50 years, i know when they suck and when they dont..even campbell was better than price by stats.
As a Canadiens Fan, every year Leaf`s Fan say this is their year.... and every year at this time, the Leaf`s never disappoint me. They have a perfect record of never making it past the first round.
Boston started the tradition. Habs continued it (couldn't be more proud of them as a Habs fan). I want the Sens to be the next ones to ruin Game 7 for the Maple Leafs lmao
To all you classy Leafs fans, my sympathies... BUT to all you toxic Leafs fans especially those who say "Canada's Team" when referring to the Leafs (especially General Taebok) I'm so glad your mental anguish is off the charts right now.
@@DevilFish69 1. Wayne Gretzky couldnt beat montreal that year, what chance did a thrown together leaf team have 2. It was almost 30 years ago, get over it
“ There’s no way (Habs) are going to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in four games. I don’t even think they can beat the Maple Leafs in one game. “ ~ Craig Button, TSN analyst ~
Lol, Button is probably one of the worst nhl exec ever along with Rejean Houle. "During his tenure as GM of the Calgary Flames, Button put and lost future Hall of Famer, Martin St. Louis, on waivers,[4] traded future Conn Smythe winner J.S. Giguere to the Anaheim Ducks for a second round pick[5] in order to protect Fred Brathwaite in the expansion draft, and traded Marc Savard to the Atlanta Thrashers for Ruslan Zainullin."
"When the Leafs collapsed whether it's against Boston in 13 or Montreal on Monday, so did (Phil) Spector's life after he killed Lana Clarkson in his home or when bullied one of the best Canadians in music history, the late Leonard Cohen." -My Ron Maclean imitation
The fact that we came back from a 3-1 series deficit and win game 7. Ngl, while I'm absolutely happy at the overall team effort from game 5 and onward, I'm literally so happy that Price went God mode and proved everyone wrong by being a brick wall against the top of the North. I will say this, Campbell proved me wrong and played very well, I don't think leafs fans should blame anything on him. With that being said, I still had faith despite how grim our chances looked.
@@angryassyrian5627 WOW I did see that! You look like Gally so much I thought it was him LOL! Knowing that Gally is fresh back from a thumb surgery, I wondered how he pulled off such a good wrist shot, now it makes sense! Thanks for the win! Keep it up against the Jets!
Price was phenomenal in this series and Montreal found a way to neutralize this offense. Montreal plays with so much grit and heart. It is hard not to root for them.
@@jtp2007 im a Canucks fan. I'm just watching the games for what they are hockey games. The jets smashed it. They are fully rested and ready to play. We will all know by the first game in the series. Good look to both sides.
What All Stars??? They have to win something first. No Trophy of any kind, no star, just wannabes. 10 years in the future and they are just washed up hacks. Go go go every other team!
I am old enough to remember the 6 team NHL and my favourite team was always Montreal. I never hated the Leafs in any way but I still love the Habs. I have a lot of respect for the loyalty through thick and thin of the Leafs' fans.
Group goes to doctor. Say they're depressed. Say life seems harsh and cruel. Say they feel all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great embarrassing clown show the Maple Leafs are in town tonight. Go and see them. That should pick you up." Group bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor... we are the Maple Leafs".
The numbers are staggering. The Maple Leafs haven't won a playoff series since 2004. They have eight straight losses in series-clinching games. And they've lost a winner-take-all game in four straight postseasons: three Game 7s
Until the year they win the cup and then you'll probably go "well, about time. Reality check - there are 32 teams in the NHL and 16 make it to the playoffs. Any of them can potentially win the cup and 15 very good teams will lose and face people like you who say they are a joke.
@@4lifecuba Tell your media cause they said the Leafs were winning the cup all season basing arguments on regular season stats. When will Toronto ever learn.😂😂
Montreal wanted to win and had the passion that led them to win. The Leafs gave up after game 4. It will be interesting to see how management and players account for their actions and decisions. We hope they will keep Jason Spezza because he deserves all the credit he gets for what he did during the last 2 seasons.
To be fair, Montréal didn't play with passion during the entire series. They managed to bring their A game towards the end though, and that's what counts.
Don’t want to hear “contenders” from Toronto media ever again until this team actually proves they can win a series. The media is the sole reason I was hoping the Leafs would lose.
Who you going for and who you think will win? I didn't think Montreal would come close to getting out of the first round, so I'll pick Jets to win, but I want Habs to take it all.
@@krylesangerbeaver I agree with the Jets, Ehlers, Scheifele, Connor are all ridiculous and as long as defence hold up and Helle stays sharp, I have to go with the Peg. Although crazier things have happened.
@@scringe1 I have a few close people who are Bruins fans, it's a little bit awkward when Habs play the B's in the playoffs, but there's always respect. This series against the Leafs on the other hand...there was no respect to the Habs. Just made it that much sweeter to knock them out
Wow what a game by Montreal! Now I want to hear Stephen A. Smith’s take on this game! “This is not true, this is not true! The Leafs had the audicity, the unmitigated gaul to blow a 3-1 lead!!! Instead of cashing in opportunities to move on this team is diametrically opposed. The rest of the league denigrates this team time and time again but they aren’t even worthy of that anymore!! They’re not worthy to be Canada’s team!! Blasphemous!! Shame on you Toronto Maple Leafs! Bunch of bona-fide scrubs!!!” - Gary

What a shocker. Had it 70-30 for the leafs before the series started. But damn that’s one of the great things about hockey. Underdogs still have a pretty good chance to come out on top
As a Canadiens fan who really thought we would have been swept by this Leafs team, I have to say this could not have gone better. Came back from 3-1 Two wins back to back in OT while facing elimination Toronto seeded 1st and Canadiens seeded 4th in division First time we play each other in a playoff series since 1979 (which is crazy!) I don't care what happens next, this was the best Playoffs since 1993.
Ever since I was born in late 2004 they never won a series since, I think I’m the curse behind this team, but as much as they break my heart, I’ll always bleed blue and white, a true fan will always be a fan no matter what.
I remember where I was this night. I refused to watch the game cause I knew the Leafs were gonna blow it, so I just played PS5 all night while everyone else upstairs watched. I made the right decision. I'll never forget the betrayal I felt after the team did this to me. Toronto is just another breed of sports pain and suffering, and unlike other cities where people feel bad for them, people enjoy nothing more than relishing in our suffering.
You know what’s funny as a Sabres fan? Taylor Hall and Eric Staal both STILL in the playoffs and have a chance of winning the Stanley Cup. I want to die.
Meanwhile, in Montreal, Habs fans were shooting off fireworks downtown, jumping up and down and screaming, haha. So awesome (except for the placement of the fireworks, haha).
I didn’t know what habs I was going to get this series. Luckily we got the habs that are very aggressive and are willing to go into scrubs. What a series and hopefully many more! Go habs go!
Price won them this series. Fantastic goalie when it counts. There were a few times this series was one goal from being over and a 4-1 win for Toronto and he shut it down. Congrats Montreal
To quote a certain yinzer, "YOU LOST?! YOU HAVE ALL THAT FORWARD TALENT AND YOU DON'T EVEN SCORE A GOAL?! WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?! CAN YOU DO SOMETHING BESIDES SH-T THE BED IN SERIES ENDING GAMES?!" Shameful f-cking display, Toronto!
The Montreal players are gaining confidence at a fast pace. With Price in the goal, who knows how far they can go... If it would have been a Toronto victory, I would have encourage them; as long as the Stanley cup goes to CANADA !
Price’s contract is a tough one. I flip-flop on it on a monthly basis every season lol One fact that I think most people can agree on is that this post-season ROI for Price’s $10M/year contract far outweighs the post-season ROI for both Marner’s and Matthews’ similar contracts.
